A sample of 340 pupils (170 boys and 170 girls), aged 12-16 years, completed a written questionnaire on their attainability, location, frequency and purposes of Internet access. The data analysis showed that more pupils use the Internet outside school (at home, in Internet caf es) than within school and that boys have more opportunities to access the Internet. Both inside and outside school, pupils&#39; favourite Internet activities relate to information gathering for personal purposes and to entertainment. A total of 686 adolescents (mean age of 14.4 years, range of 12-17 years) were recruited from elementary and high schools. Results showed that the Internet was used primarily by male students. Adolescents used the Internet generally for entertainment and communication. The quality of chat on the Internet was studied, and it was found that adolescents generally introduce themselves differently while chatting. Also, the type of games on the Internet and the corellation between playing these games and aggression was studied in this research. It was found that mostly violent games were played on the Internet and playing these games were related to anti-social aggression and aggression toward the self. Research findings indicated that 1.1% of the students who used the Internet were pathological Internet users. These pathological Internet users visited significantly more chat sites, mp3 sites, pornographic sites, and shopping sites than other users. Therefore, this study aims at determining the views of parents about the Internet use of their children who attend a private elementary school in Turkey. Carried out through the qualitative research method, the research data of the study were collected from 33 parents and were analyzed by running descriptive analysis, which is one of the qualitative data analysis methods. As a result of the analysis, it was revealed that parents regard Internet as the most developed technology, a window opening to the whole world, and as a tool to attain information. Moreover, parents reported that Internet has positive and negative effects together. Parents stated that Internet use of their children has positive effects in terms of providing support to education, attaining information, establishing communication, and entertainment, while it has negative effects in terms of content and of individual, psychological and physical aspects.
