He is sometimes referred to as <a href="/wiki/Tefnakht_II" title="Tefnakht II">Tefnakht II</a> in the literature. Nechepsos has been identified with a local king named <a href="/wiki/Nekauba" title="Nekauba">Nekauba</a> (678–672 BC).
