Approaches to complement software-based systems with self-managing and self-adaptive capabilities are an important area of research and development, offering solutions that leverage advances in fields including software architecture, fault-tolerant computing, programming languages, and run-time program analysis and verification. Research in this field is informed by related areas such as control systems, machine learning, artificial intelligence, agent-based systems, and biologically inspired computing. The SEAMS symposium focuses on applying software engineering to these approaches, to develop and advance methods, techniques, processes, and tools that can be used to support self-* properties such as self-protection, self-healing, self-optimization, and self-configuration.'> <meta prefix='og: http://ogp.me/ns#' property='og:description' content='The 15th edition of the International Symposium on Software Engineering for Adaptive and Self-Managing Systems will be colocated with ICSE 2020. 2020. Due to the COVID-19 emergency, the ICSE 2020 organization has decided to hold the conference virtually on July 6-11 (please read the statement by the general chair). Following this decision, SEAMS organizing committee has decided to hold SEAMS virtually on June 29 - July 3, 2020. The objective of SEAMS is to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, and government, to investigate, discuss, examine and advance the fundamental principles, the state of the art, and the solutions addressing critical challenges of engineering self-adaptive and self-managing systems.

Modern and emerging software systems ranging from industrial Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems to cloud and edge computing, robotics, and smart environments have to operate without interruption. The SEAMS symposium focuses on applying software engineering to these approaches, to develop and advance methods, techniques, processes, and tools that can be used to support self-* properties such as self-protection, self-healing, self-optimization, and self-configuration.

Awards

Congratulations to the winners of SEAMS 2020 Awards!

SEAMS 2020 Best Paper Award

Dynamic Adaptation of Software-defined Networks for IoT Systems: A Search-based Approach

Authors: Seung Yeob Shin, Shiva Nejati, Mehrdad Sabetzadeh, Lionel Briand, Chetan Arora, and Frank Zimmer

SEAMS 2020 Best Student Paper Award

DATESSO: Self-Adapting Service Composition with Debt-Aware Two Levels Constraint Reasoning

Authors: Satish Kumar, Tao Chen, Rami Bahsoon, and Rajkumar Buyya

SEAMS 2006 Most Influential Paper Award

Architecture-based self-adaptation in the presence of multiple objectives

Authors: Shang-Wen Cheng, David Garlan, and Bradley Schmerl

SEAMS 2007 Most Influential Paper Award

An architectural style for solving computationally intensive problems on large network

Authors: Yuriy Brun and Nenad Medvidović

Thank you very much for your participation in SEAMS 2020 and see you in SEAMS 2021!

Call for Participation – SEAMS 2020 Online Sessions

Save the Dates: June 29th – July 3rd, 2020 (PDF version)

The organizing committee of the 15th International Symposium on Software Engineering for Adaptive and Self-Managing Systems (SEAMS 2020) is pleased to announce that the symposium will take place online, following the cancellation of the physical conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
