Chudori in the novel Laut Bercerita. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with the data source, namely the novel Laut Berceritaby Leila S. Chudori. The data from this study is a lingual unit containing the use of types and functions of emotive language and its context in the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori. The data collection method used in this research is the note-taking method and the data analysis method used is the agih method. The results of this study indicate that the image of Leila S. Chudori's writing style in the novel Laut Bercerita can be seen in the use of the types of emotive language that appear, there are pain, sad, happy, surprised, annoyed, tense, anxious, afraid, tired, disgusted, and longing. Gender is a social sex reconstructed by society for both men and women. The gender difference stereotypes have given rise to gender injustice detrimental to women. The presence of the concept of existential feminism initiated by Simone De Beauvoir is a bright spot and hope for all women, especially those in patriarchal system communities. The purpose of this research is to uncover the traditional paradigm that women are cultural products and their independence is delimited. This is not in accordance with the concept of human rights which basically states that every human being has the same rights in carrying out life. So it is hoped that this paper can be used as a reference to eliminate the marginalization of women. The research is carried out using a qualitative descriptive design with phenomenological method to explore or photograph social situations thoroughly, broadly and deeply and also supported by the theory of sociology of literature, the description of social reality in literary works. The data collection procedures and the data analysis are done systematically based on the existing theories of qualitative research method. The results of the research show that the protagonist implements the existential feminist concept through the ability to work, being intellectual and responsible. The data of this research are in the form of words, sentences, expressions, and discourses that contain elements of gender issues in the novel by Ahmad Tohari. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling while the data collection uses library techniques, listen and record. The validity test of the data applied is source triangulation. The data analysis technique used a semiotic model reading technique consisting of heuristic and hermeneutic readings. 1) The structure of the novel by Ahmad Tohari which is based on the fictional theory of Robert Stanton carries the theme of women's struggle in realizing gender equality with men. This section truly captures the interest of adolescents, as it stimulates the approach of literary texts and promotes constructive discussions that often lead to further enjoyment of reading. On this base a collaboration between University of Athens and Anavryta Model Lyceum was carried out in Literature class in both institutions. This article aims to present the main stages of this cooperation on the subject of “Literary Representations of Women’s roles from traditional to modern society”, as the institutional framework for teaching literature clearly supports the historicity of texts. Besides explaining the rationale behind this educational action, we are proposing a selection of literary texts that were used in class and presenting the objectives and didactic methods practiced, the type of tasks assigned to the pupils as well as the skills developed by them. The paper insists on certain texts that are particularly valuable for this approach and offers examples of taking advantage of contextual elements. This is, especially, due to the presence of female writers using new story writing and narrative techniques in creating the settings. Among these is the novel under study, written by an Iranian novelist, which tends to introduce and present Iranian women’s problems and challenges. This study is, in effect, carried out on a Persian contemporary novel entitled Adat Mikonim (We’ll Get Used to It), written by Zoya Pirzad. The main character of the story is a middle-aged woman from a middle class family who is living with her daughter as well as her mother. The novel depicts the obstacles the woman faces communicating with as well as being understood by her daughter and mother.Following Hodge and Kress' (1993), the present study is carried out within the Critical Discourse framework to analyze the text. The book contains 31 chapters, out of which the first16 chapters were selected. Kata-Kata Kunci: sastra Indonesia modern, tahun 1920-an, Balai Pustaka, perempuan, kritik sastra feminis Abstract: Modern Indonesian literature can be said to be born around 1920s with the publication of modern Indonesian literary works by Balai Pustaka. Amongst the works published by Balai Pustaka in the 1920s, there are most popular works namely Sitti Nurbaya (1922), Azab dan Seng-sara(1927) and Salah Asuhan (1928) representing the tone of 1920s literary productions. This paper aims to look at images of women in those three works written by male authors, using feminist literary criticism. By means of close reading technique, the study uses feminist literary criticism to examine and (re)examine the images of women portrayed in those three works.
