What started as a localized edit war over censorship spilled over onto the Administrator's Noticeboard finally ending up at Wikipedia's supreme judicial body ArbCom. <a class="external text" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Arbitration_Committee/Noticeboard&oldid=837089062#Motion:_Misuse_of_Administrator_Tools">Their ruling</a> resulted in the admonishment of administrator <a href="/wiki/User:Future_Perfect_at_Sunrise" title="User:Future Perfect at Sunrise">Future Perfect at Sunrise</a> for his involvement in the dispute. The story <a href="/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/2018-04-26/Arbitration_report" title="Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2018-04-26/Arbitration report">was reported</a> by Wikipedia's venerable flagship newspaper <i>The Signpost</i>. </p><p>The question of whether to delete all portals--including the 27 Christianity-related portals--was put to the Wikipedia community. Approximately 400 editors have participated in the <a href="/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)/RfC:_Ending_the_system_of_portals" title="Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)/RfC: Ending the system of portals">protracted discussion</a>. Going by !votes, Oppose deletion has a distinct majority. After several months of exchanging gifts, on <a href="/wiki/January_2" title="January 2">January 2</a>, <a href="/wiki/1956" title="1956">1956</a>, the missionaries established a camp at "Palm Beach", a <a href="/wiki/Bar_(landform)" class="mw-redirect" title="Bar (landform)">sandbar</a> along the <a href="/wiki/Curaray_River" title="Curaray River">Curaray River</a>, a few miles from Huaorani settlements. Their efforts culminated on <a href="/wiki/January_8" title="January 8">January 8</a>, <a href="/wiki/1956" title="1956">1956</a>, when all five—<a href="/wiki/Jim_Elliot" title="Jim Elliot">Jim Elliot</a>, <a href="/wiki/Nate_Saint" title="Nate Saint">Nate Saint</a>, Ed McCully, Peter Fleming, and <a href="/wiki/Roger_Youderian" title="Roger Youderian">Roger Youderian</a>—were attacked and <a href="/wiki/Spear" title="Spear">speared</a> by a group of Huaorani warriors.
