text-center" data-animate="fadeInUp"> <h4>The Student鈥檚 Advocate</h4> </div> <p>The Student鈥檚 Advocate has been established by Ar. 55 of Law 4009/2011 and updated by Ar. 130 of Law 4957/2022 and its main goal is to facilitate the mediation between students and professors or administrative services of the University; to safeguard the compliance with legality in the framework of academic freedom; to deal with maladministration phenomena and to safeguard the University鈥檚 smooth operation as well. <em>The Student鈥檚 Advocate has no authority on issues related to exams and the students' grades.</em></p> <p>The Student鈥檚 Advocate is appointed by the Senate of the University, following the Rector's proposal and the opinion of the Student Council, and the duties of the Student鈥檚 Advocate are assigned to a professor or emeritus professor of the University. No fees or other kind of benefit, remuneration or compensation is paid for the performance of the duties of the Student鈥檚 Advocate.</p> <p>The Student鈥檚 Advocate exercises the following duties:</p> <ul class="list-icon list-icon-arrow list-icon-colored"> <li>Investigates cases, either ex officio or following a student's report and mediates with the University's competent bodies for the resolution of these cases. In order to achieve its mission, the Student鈥檚 Advocate may request from the University's services any information, document or other kind of evidence for each case, while it may also examine persons, perform autopsies and order an expert鈥檚 opinion. If it is found that in a specific case the law has not been respected, or there are phenomena of maladministration or that the smooth operation of the University is disturbed, the Student鈥檚 Advocate reaches a conclusion with which the professor concerned or the competent administrative department concerned and the student who submitted the petition, are being informed. Then, the Student鈥檚 Advocate mediates, with any means, in order to solve the problem. The Student鈥檚 Advocate may, by its act, place in the file a petition that is deemed clearly vague, unfounded, or inadequately supported. If the Student鈥檚 Advocate considers that there are indications of a disciplinary offense, the case is being forwarded to the competent disciplinary body.</li> <li>Provides information to the University's staff and students about the operation, responsibilities and mission of the Student鈥檚 Advocate.</li> <li>Plans and coordinates training activities for the students and staff of the University, in collaboration with other units of it, as well as with external bodies, especially with the Ombudsman and the Student鈥檚 Advocate of other Universities, domestic and foreign.</li> <li>Participates in the formulation of internal policies and the development of tools to strengthen the integrity and transparency within the University. It also cooperates with the competent bodies of the University for the drafting of the Code of Ethics of it, of the Regulations regarding the Management of Phenomena related to Conflict of Interest, as well as of the Protocols for dealing with incidents of fraud and corruption.</li> <li>Informs the University's governing bodies, the Ethics Committee, the Internal Audit Unit, the University's Integrity Advisor and the organizational unit responsible for the administrative support and human resources issues and collaborates with them regarding the development and implementation of integrity policies and standards within the University. </li> <li>Prepares an annual report, which it submits to the Rector, the Administration Council and the Senate of the University for the work it carried out and the progress of the cases handled. In addition, the Student鈥檚 Advocate provides suggestions for the improvement of the efficiency of the University's services. The findings of the Student鈥檚 Advocate, as well as its annual report, are published on the University's website, subject to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 27 April 2016, on the protection of natural persons against of the processing of personal data and for the free circulation of such data and the repeal of Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection
