you will bury me in my grave that I bought for me in the land of Canaan’; now I shall go up there; I shall bury my father and I shall return.” <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And Pharaoh said to Yoseph, “Go up and bury your father as he made you swear.”<p> <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And Yoseph came up to bury his father, and all the Servants of Pharaoh came up with him, and the Elders of his house, and all the Elders of the land of Egypt, <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And all in the house of Yoseph and his brothers, and the house of his father, came up with him; only their little ones and their flocks and their oxen they left in the land of Geshan. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And with him also the chariots and horsemen came up and there was a very mighty host. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And they came as far as to the threshing floor of Atar, which is at the crossing of Jordan, and they mourned there a great and powerful mourning, and he made for his father a house of weeping, seven days. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the grieving at the threshing floor of Atar, and they said, “This grieving is great for the Egyptians;” because of this, they called its name Ebal Metsrein, which is at the crossing of Jordan.<p> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>And his sons did to him just as he commanded them <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>And they took him away and brought him to the land of Canaan, and they buried him in the cave that is in the double field, for Abraham bought the field for an inheritance of the tomb from Aphron, the Khethite, that is before Mamreh. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And Yoseph returned to Egypt, he and his brothers, and everyone who came up with him to bury his father.<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And after he buried his father, the brothers of Yoseph saw that their father was dead, and they were afraid and they were saying, “Lest Yoseph will harm us, and lest he will pay us all the evil that we did to him.” <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And they visited and they came near to Yoseph, and they said to him, “Your father commanded before his death and said: <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>‘In this way you will say to Yoseph: “Pray, forgive the offense of your brethren and their sins, the evil that they have done to you’, and now, forgive the offense of the Servants of the God of your father”; and Yoseph wept when they spoke to him. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And his brothers went also, and they fell before him, and they said, “Behold, we are your Servants.” <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And Yoseph said to them, “You shall not be afraid, because I am under God. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>You counseled evil against me and God counseled good, to do as it is today, and he will save many people. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And now you shall not be afraid; I shall nurture you and your little ones”, and he comforted them and he satisfied their hearts.<p> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And Yoseph dwelt in Egypt, he and all the house of his father, and Yoseph lived a hundred and ten years. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And Yoseph saw Aphreim's children, the third generation; also the children of Makir, son of Manassheh, were born on the knees of Yoseph. <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And Yoseph said to his brothers, “I am dying, and God certainly remembers you, and he brings you up from this land to the land that he swore to Abraham and to Isaac and to Yaquuv.” <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/genesis/50-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>And Yoseph made the sons of Israel swear and he said, “God certainly remembers you;
