Then as she was weeping, she stooped down into the tomb, <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>and she sees two angels in white sitting, one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And they say to her, “Woman, why do you weep?”</p><p class="reg"> She says to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Having said these things, she turned back around, and she sees Jesus standing <i>there</i>, and she had not known that it is Jesus. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Jesus says to her, <span class="red">“Woman, why do you weep? Whom do you seek?”</span></p><p class="reg"> Thinking that it is the gardener, she says to Him, “Sir, if you have carried Him off, tell me where you have laid Him, and I will take Him away.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Jesus says to her, <span class="red">“Mary.”</span></p><p class="reg"> Having turned around, she says to Him in Hebrew, “Rabboni,” that is to say, “Teacher.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Jesus says to her, <span class="red">“Do not touch Me, for not yet have I ascended to the Father. Now go to My brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and <i>to</i> My God and your God.’”</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Mary Magdalene comes bringing word to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and <i>that</i> He had said these things to her. </p><p class="hdg">Jesus Appears to the Disciples<br /><span class="cross">(Luke 24:36-43; 1 John 1:1-4)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Therefore it being evening the same day, the first of <i>the</i> week, and the doors where the disciples were having been shut through the fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and He says to them, <span class="red">“Peace to you.”</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>And having said this, He showed them both His hands and His side.</p><p class="reg"> Then the disciples rejoiced, having seen the Lord. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Therefore Jesus said to them again, <span class="red">“Peace to you. As the Father has sent Me forth, I also send you.”</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>And having said this, He breathed on <i>them</i> and He says to them, <span class="red">“Receive <i>the</i> Holy Spirit. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>If you might forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you might retain any, they are retained.”</span> </p><p class="hdg">Jesus Appears to Thomas</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>But Thomas, one of the Twelve, the <i>one</i> called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>So the other disciples were saying to him, “We have seen the Lord.”</p><p class="reg"> But he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the mark of the nails, and put my hands into His side, I will never believe.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/20-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them, the doors having been shut.
