Currently I am investigating the use of augmented reality for exploring brain regions and related brain diseases through the <a href="http://www.linked-brain-data.org">Linked Brain Data repository</a> representing neuroscience literature. At at higher level, I am interested in user-centric interaction design in the context of developing technologies. Past projects include <a href="http://www.linkedtv.eu">LinkedTV</a>, on creating links from broadcast audiovisual media automatically, and <a href="http://groups.inf.ed.ac.uk/f4k/">Fish4Knowledge</a>, investigating user interfaces for exploring repositories of fish videos for biologists, <a href="http://eventmedia.cwi.nl/">EventMedia</a> within the <a href="http://www.petamedia.eu/">PetaMedia</a> network of excellence, <a href="http://cordis.europa.eu/project/rcn/79376_en.html">K-Space NoE</a> <!-- <a href="http://kspace.qmul.net:8080/kspace/">K-Space NoE</a> --> and <a href="http://multimedian.project.cwi.nl">MultimediaN/E-Culture</a>. <!-- <a href="http://db.cwi.nl/projecten/project.php4?prjnr=184">MultimediaN/E-Culture</a>. --> Previous research interests include document models for hypermedia and synchronized multimedia on the Web (<a href="http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/">SMIL</a>). </p> <p> I am the director of <a href="http://amsterdamdatascience.nl">Amsterdam Data Science (ADS)</a>, a regional ecosystem for data science researchers from academia, industry and government to share ideas, pursue research, and foster talent. ADS is a partner of the national network <a href="http://www.datascienceplatform.org/">Data Science Platform Netherlands (DSPN)</a>. </p> <p>I am the European Director of <a href="http://liama.ia.ac.cn/">LIAMA</a>, a collaboration between <a href="https://www.cwi.nl/">CWI</a>, <a href="https://www.inria.fr">INRIA</a> and the <a href="http://ia.ac.cn">Chinese Academy of Sciences, Institute of Automation</a>. </p> <p> <a href="https://www.cwi.nl/~lynda/talks/2014/WIRE%20Oviedo%20July%202014.pdf"><img class="lfloat" style="margin:10px 20px" alt="Front cover of booklet More Women in Informatics Research and Education" width="158" src="More%20WIRE%20thumbnail.png"/></a> <a href="http://www.informatics-europe.org"><img class="rfloat" style="margin:20px 20px" src="logo-informatics-europe-2016.png" alt="Informatics Europe logo"/></a> </p> <p> I was the <a href="https://www.informatics-europe.org/about/board/7-about-us/235-past-board-members.html">president</a> of <a href="http://www.informatics-europe.org">Informatics Europe</a>, the association of computer science departments and research laboratories in Europe and neighbouring areas, from 2016-2017 and past-president 2018-2019. Previous to this I was a board member from 2012-2015. As founding chair of the <a href="http://www.informatics-europe.org/working-groups/women-in-icst-research-and-education.html">Women in Informatics Research and Education</a> working group I edited the first edition of the booklet <a href="http://www.informatics-europe.org/component/phocadownload/category/11-best-practive-booklets.html"> <!-- <a href="http://www.informatics-europe.org/images/documents/more-women-in-informatics-research-and-education_2013.pdf"> --> More Women in Informatics Research & Education</a>. I edited the research and society section on <a href="http://ercim-news.ercim.eu/en104/r-s">Women in ICT Research and Education</a> in <a href="http://ercim-news.ercim.eu/en104/">ERCIM News 104</a>. In 2013 I was general chair of <a href="http://www.informatics-europe.org/ecss/about/past-summits/ecss-2013.html">ECSS 2013</a>, the annual event for deans, department chairs and senior faculty of Informatics Europe members. </p> <p> I am part-time professor of <a href="https://www.uu.nl/en/news/lynda-hardman-appointed-professor-of-multimedia-discourse-interaction">Multimedia Discourse Interaction</a> at the <a href="http://www.uu.nl/en">University of Utrecht</a>, at the <a href="http://www.uu.nl/en/research/institute-of-information-and-computing-sciences">Institute of Information and Computing Sciences</a> in the <a href="http://www.uu.nl/en/research/game-research/about-us/participating-research-groups/interaction-technology/"> Interaction Technology</a> group. </p> <p> I was the action line leader of ICT-mediated Human Activity, from 2011-2012, <!-- <a href="http://eit.ictlabs.eu/action-lines/ict-mediated-human-activity/">ICT-mediated Human Activity</a> --> of <a href="https://www.eitdigital.eu">EIT Digital</a> <!-- <a href="http://eit.ictlabs.eu">EIT ICT Labs</a>--> , whose goal is to accelerate European ICT innovation by bringing people together from different countries, disciplines and organizations. </p> <p> I am an area editor for the <a href="http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/journaldescription.cws_home/671322/description">Journal of Web Semantics</a> and was a member of the editorial board of the <a href="http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/titles/13614568.asp">New Review of Hypermedia and Multimedia</a> 1993-2016. I was the main organiser of <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20131126105445/http://ssms10.project.cwi.nl/">SSMS10</a>, the 5th <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20120826134055/http://www.smart-society.net/summerschool.php">Summer School on Multimedia Semantics</a>. I co-edited a special issue for <a href="http://www.computer.org/portal/site/intelligent/">IEEE Intelligent Systems</a> on <a href="http://www.computer.org/csdl/mags/ex/2009/02/index.html">AI and Cultural Heritage</a> (March/April 2009 24(2) pp23-25).
