name="2"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-1.htm#aramaic"><b>1</b></a></span>And King David, he was old, and had entered into years, and they were covering him with clothing and he did not feel warm . <A name="3"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>His Servants said to him: “Behold your Servants before you will seek our Lord the King a virgin girl and she shall stand before the King and she shall be a Servant for him and she will lie down in your bosom and she will warm our Lord the King.” <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>And they searched for a beautiful girl in all the borders of Israel and they found Abishag a Shilumite and they brought her to the King. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>And the young girl was very beautiful in her appearance and she was a Servant for the King and she was waiting on him, and the King did not know her sexually.<p> <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>And Aduniah, son of Khagith was exalting himself and he said: “I will be King!” , and he made for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men were running before him. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And his father had not rebuked him all his days or said to him, ”Why have you done so?” Also he was very handsome in his appearance, and his mother had given birth to him after Abishlum. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>And his communications were with Yuab, son of Tsuria and with Abiathar the Priest, and they were helping the following of Aduniah. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>And Tsaduq the Priest and Beniah, son of Yawida and Nathan the Prophet and Shemi and Dei and the mighty men of David were not behind Aduniah.<p> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>And Aduniah offered sheep and bulls and fatlings on a great rock on the side of Ayn Qatsra, and he invited all his brothers, the sons of the King, and all of the house of Yehuda and the Servants of the King. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>And Nathan the Prophet and Benaia, son of Yawida and the mighty men of David and Solomon his brother he did not invite.<p> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>And Nathan the Prophet said to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon: “Have you not heard that Aduniah is made king and our Lord David does not know? <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>Now come, I shall counsel you and save your life and the life of your son Solomon. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>Go, enter into King David and say to him: ‘You, my Lord the King, have you not sworn to your Maidservant: “Solomon your son shall reign after me and he shall sit on my throne?” Why does Aduniah reign?’ <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>And while you are speaking there before the King, I shall come after you and I shall confirm your words.”<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And Bathsheba entered to King David to the bedroom, and the King was very old, and Abishag the Shilumite was serving the King. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And Bathsheba knelt down and she worshiped the King. The King said to her: “What concerns you, Bathsheba?” <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>She said to him: “My Lord King, you have sworn by LORD JEHOVAH your God to your Maidservant, ‘Solomon your son will reign after me and he will sit on my throne.’ <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>And now, behold, Aduniah reigns, and you my Lord King, you have not known it <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>And he has offered bulls and fatlings and a multitude of sheep, and he invited all the sons of the King and Abiathar the Priest, and Yuab, General of the army, and Nathan the Prophet, and Benaia, son of Yawida, and Solomon your Servant he did not invite. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-20.htm#aramaic"><b>20</b></a></span>And you my Lord King, the eyes of all Israel are upon you, that you will show them who will sit on the throne of my Lord the King after him. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-21.htm#aramaic"><b>21</b></a></span>And whenever my Lord King lies down with his fathers in peace, I and my son Solomon will be sinners!”<p> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-22.htm#aramaic"><b>22</b></a></span>And while she was speaking, also Nathan the Prophet came before the King. <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-23.htm#aramaic"><b>23</b></a></span>And they told the King and they said to him: “Behold Nathan the Prophet has come!” And he entered before the King and he fell on his face on the ground, and he bowed down. <A name="25"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-24.htm#aramaic"><b>24</b></a></span>And Nathan said: “My Lord King, have you said: “Aduniah will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne?” <A name="26"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-25.htm#aramaic"><b>25</b></a></span>For Aduniah has gone down today and he has offered bulls and fatlings and a multitude of sheep, and he called all the sons of the King and the General of the army and Abiathar the Priest, and behold, they are eating and they are drinking before him and they are saying: ‘Long live King Aduniah!’ <A name="27"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-26.htm#aramaic"><b>26</b></a></span>And me, I who am your Servant, and Tsaduq the Priest and Benaia, son of Yawida and Solomon your Servant he has not invited. <A name="28"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-27.htm#aramaic"><b>27</b></a></span>Certainly this matter is before you, my Lord King, and you have not shown your Servants who will sit on the throne of my Lord the King after him.”<p> <A name="29"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-28.htm#aramaic"><b>28</b></a></span>And King David answered and said: “Call for me Bathsheba!” And she entered before him and she stood before the King. <A name="30"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-29.htm#aramaic"><b>29</b></a></span>And the King swore to her and said: “LORD JEHOVAH is living who has saved my soul from every sorrow! <A name="31"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-30.htm#aramaic"><b>30</b></a></span>But just as I swore to you by LORD JEHOVAH, the God of Israel, and I said that Solomon your son shall reign after me and he will sit on my throne; so I shall do today!” <A name="32"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-31.htm#aramaic"><b>31</b></a></span>And Bathsheba bowed down on her face on the floor and she worshiped before the King, and she said: “Let my Lord King David live for eternity!”<p> <A name="33"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-32.htm#aramaic"><b>32</b></a></span>And King David said: “Call for me Tsadoq the Priest and Nathan the Prophet and Benaia, son of Yawida.” And they came before the King. <A name="34"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-33.htm#aramaic"><b>33</b></a></span>And the King said to them: “Arise, take with you the Servants of your Lord and make Solomon my son ride on my mule and bring him to Shilukha. <A name="35"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-34.htm#aramaic"><b>34</b></a></span>And let Tsadoq the Priest and Nathan the Prophet anoint him there that he will be King over Israel. Sound on the shofar and say, ‘Long live King Solomon!’ <A name="36"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-35.htm#aramaic"><b>35</b></a></span>And go up after him and he shall come and he shall sit on my throne, and he shall reign after me. I have commanded him that he will be King over Israel and over Yehuda.” <A name="37"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-36.htm#aramaic"><b>36</b></a></span>And Benaiah, son of Yawida answered and said before the King: “Amen! Thus LORD JEHOVAH your God shall do! <A name="38"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-37.htm#aramaic"><b>37</b></a></span>And as LORD JEHOVAH ever has been with my Lord the King, so he shall be also with Solomon, and he will make his throne greater than the throne of my Lord King David!”<p> <A name="39"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-38.htm#aramaic"><b>38</b></a></span>And Tsadoq the Priest and Nathan the Prophet and Beniah, son of Yawida, came down, and the Archers and shooters with slings, and they set Solomon on the mule of King David and brought him to Shilukha. <A name="40"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-39.htm#aramaic"><b>39</b></a></span>And Tsadoq the Priest and Nathan the Prophet took a horn of oil from the Tabernacle and they anointed Solomon, and they sounded on the shofar, and all the people said: “Long live King Solomon!” <A name="41"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-40.htm#aramaic"><b>40</b></a></span>And all the people came up after him, and the people played on timbrels and rejoiced with great joy, and the ground was broken apart by their sound.<p> <A name="42"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-41.htm#aramaic"><b>41</b></a></span>And Aduniah and all who were invited by him heard when they finished eating, and when Yuab heard the sound of the shofars, he said: “What is this sound of the city in an uproar?” <A name="43"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-42.htm#aramaic"><b>42</b></a></span>And while he was speaking, behold, Nathan, son of Abiathar the Priest, came, and Aduniah said to him: “Come in, because you are a mighty man of the army and announce good news!” <A name="44"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-43.htm#aramaic"><b>43</b></a></span>And Nathan answered and said to Aduniah: “Truly our Lord King David has made Solomon King! <A name="45"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-44.htm#aramaic"><b>44</b></a></span>And the King sent with him Tsadoq the Priest and Nathan the Prophet and Benaia, son of Yawida and archers and shooters with slings, and they set Solomon on the mule of the King. <A name="46"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/1_kings/1-45.htm#aramaic"><b>45</b></a></span>Tsadoq the Priest and Nathan the Prophet anointed him there that he would be King in Shilukha, and they came up from there rejoicing, and all the city rejoices.
