How are the perceptions about the group\u0026amp;#39;s beliefs and their actions articu-lated? This article presents a model aimed at conceptualizing how social identity is structured. Based on a case study, the research focuses on the elements of identity, defined as units of significa-tion within a belief or statement. The paper also details the process of analysis through which it is possible to understand its articulation and organization. We do it by means of two Worlds and two Dimensions that conform the social identity, as well as three axes that shape it: Space, Time and the Relationship, this document analyzes the case of inhabitants of Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico, in order to provide a first tool that helps.¿Cómo se ven a sí mismos y a los otros los habitantes de una región de México? ¿Cómo se articulan las percepciones sobre las creencias del grupo y sus acciones? En este artículo se presenta un modelo para conceptualizar cómo está estructurada la identidad social. A partir de un estudio de caso, la investigación toma como centro los elementos de la identidad, a los que se definen como unidades de signifi-cación contenidas en una creencia o enunciado. Como apunta Marcela Lagarde, todas las culturas elaboran cosmovisiones sobre los géneros de manera que cada sociedad, cada pueblo, cada etnia y todas las personas poseen una concepción particular de género basada en su propia cultura1. Señala además que, su fuerza radica en que es parte de su visión del mundo, de su historia, de sus tradiciones populares nacionales, comunitarias, generacionales y familiares. Cada etnia tiene su particular cosmovisión de género y la incorpora además a la identidad cultural y a la etnicidad. Por eso además de contener ideas, prejuicios, valores, interpretaciones, normas, deberes y prohibiciones sobre la vida de las mujeres y los hombres, la cosmovisión de género propia, particular es marcadamente etnocentrista. Cada individuo aprende a identificarse con la cosmovisión de género de su mundo y algunos creen que la suya es universal. La cosmovisión de género es parte estructurante de la identidad de cada uno2.
