<t><p class="indent1">Cry<MH7121> aloud<MH4390> and say<MH559>, <t><p class="indent1">‘Assemble<MH622>, and let’s go<MH935> <t><p class="indent1">Into the fortified<MH4013> cities<MH5892b>.’ <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>“Raise<MH5375> a flag<MH5251> toward Zion<MH6726>! <t><p class="indent1">Take<MH5756> refuge<MH5756>, do not stand<MH5975> <i>still,</i> <t><p class="indent1">For I am bringing<MH935> evil<MH7463a> from the north<MH6828>, <t><p class="indent1">And great<MH1419> destruction<MH7667>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>“A lion<MH743b> has gone<MH5927> up<MH5927> from his thicket<MH5441>, <t><p class="indent1">And a destroyer<MH7843> of nations<MH1471> has set<MH5265> out<MH5265>; <t><p class="indent1">He has gone<MH3318> out<MH3318> from his place<MH4725> <t><p class="indent1">To make<MH7760> your land<MH776> a waste<MH8047>. <t><p class="indent1">Your cities<MH5892b> will be ruins<MH5327c>, <t><p class="indent1">Without<MH369> an inhabitant<MH3427>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>“For this<MH2088>, put<MH2296> on<MH2296> sackcloth<MH8242>, <t><p class="indent1">Mourn<MH5594> and wail<MH3213>; <t><p class="indent1">For the fierce<MH2740> anger<MH639> of the LORD<MH3068> <t><p class="indent1">Has not turned<MH7725> away<MH7725> from us.” <A><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>“And it shall come<MH1961> about<MH1961> on that day<MH3117>,” declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>, “that the heart<MH3820> of the king<MH4428> and the hearts<MH3820> of the leaders<MH8269> will fail<MH6>; and the priests<MH3548> will tremble<MH8074>, and the prophets<MH5030> will be<MH8539> astonished<MH8539>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Then I said<MH559>, “Oh<MH162>, Lord<MH136> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>GOD<MH3068>! Surely<MH403> You have utterly<MH5378> deceived<MH5378> this<MH2088> people<MH5971a> and Jerusalem<MH3389>, saying<MH559>, ‘You will have<MH1961> peace<MH7965>’; yet a sword<MH2719> touches<MH5060> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>throat<MH5315>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>At that time<MH6256> it will be said<MH559> to this<MH2088> people<MH5971a> and to Jerusalem<MH3389>, “A scorching<MH6703> wind<MH7307> from the bare<MH8205> heights<MH8205> in the wilderness<MH4057b>, in the direction<MH1870> of the daughter<MH1323> of My people<MH5971a>—not to winnow<MH2219> and not to cleanse<MH1305>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>a wind<MH7307> too<MH4480> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>strong<MH4392> for <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>this<MH428>—will come<MH935> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>at My command; now<MH6258> I will also<MH1571> pronounce<MH1696> judgments<MH4941> against them.” <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>“Behold<MH2009>, he goes<MH5927> up<MH5927> like clouds<MH6051>, <t><p class="indent1">And his chariots<MH4818> like the whirlwind<MH5492a>; <t><p class="indent1">His horses<MH5483b> are<MH7043> swifter<MH7043> than<MH4480> eagles<MH5404>. <t><p class="indent1">Woe<MH188> to us, for we are ruined<MH7703>!” <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Wash<MH3526> your heart<MH3820> from evil<MH7463a>, Jerusalem<MH3389>, <t><p class="indent1">So<MH4616> that<MH4616> you may be saved<MH3467>. <t><p class="indent1">How<MH4970> long<MH5704, 4970> will your wicked<MH205> thoughts<MH4284> <t><p class="indent1">Lodge<MH3885a> within<MH7130> you? <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>For a voice<MH6963> declares<MH5046> from Dan<MH1835>, <t><p class="indent1">And proclaims<MH8085> wickedness<MH205> from Mount<MH2022> Ephraim<MH669>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>“Report<MH2142> <i>it</i> to the nations<MH1471>, now<MH2009>! <t><p class="indent1">Proclaim<MH8085> to<MH5921> Jerusalem<MH3389>, <t><p class="indent1">‘<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>Enemies<MH6862c> are coming<MH935> from a remote<MH4801> country<MH776>, <t><p class="indent1">And they raise<MH5414> their voices<MH6963> against<MH5921> the cities<MH5892b> of Judah<MH3063>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>‘Like watchmen<MH8104> of a field<MH7706a> they are against<MH5921> her all<MH5439> around<MH5439>, <t><p class="indent1">Because<MH3588> she has rebelled<MH4784> against Me,’ declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/4-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>“Your ways<MH1870> and your deeds<MH4611> <t><p class="indent1">Have <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>brought<MH6213a> these<MH428> things<MH428> upon you. <t><p class="indent1">This<MH2088> is your evil<MH7463a>.
