This compact cavity yields laser linewidths in the 350-MHz range and smooth temporal pulses with a near-Gaussian profile.

Key words: ASE, beam divergence, beam expander, beam expansion, cavity, cavity architecture, diffraction, diffraction grating, dispersive linewidth, dye laser, dye-doped, dye-doped organic matrix, Glan-Thompson polarizer, grating, HMPGI, HMPGI oscillator, laser linewidth, laser oscillator, linewidth, linewidth equation, MPL, MPL oscillator, multiple-prism, multiple-prism beam expander, multiple-prism expander, narrow-linewidth, near-Gaussian, ORMOSIL, PMMA, poly(methyl metracrylate), TEM00, temporal pulse, tunable laser, tuning range, single longitudinal mode, solid-state, solid-state matrix.

F.
