CLas is transmitted by the Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) Diaphorina citri. The closely-related bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum (CLso), which is associated with vegetative disorders in carrots and the zebra chips disease in potatoes, is transmitted by other psyllid species including Bactericera trigonica in carrots and B. ckockerelli in potatoes. Chemical sprays are currently the prevailing method for managing these diseases for limiting psyllid populations; however, they are limited in their effectiveness. A promising approach to prevent the transmission of these pathogens is to interfere with the vector-pathogen interactions, but our understanding of these processes is very limited. CLas induces changes in the nuclear architecture in the midgut of ACP and activates programmed cell death (apoptosis) in this organ. Strikingly, CLso displayed an opposite effect in the gut of B. trigonica, showing limited apoptosis, but widespread necrosis. Electron and fluorescent microscopy further showed that CLas induced the formation of Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) inclusion- and replication-like bodies, in which it increases and multiplies. ER involvement in bacterial replication is hypothesized to be the first stage of an immune response leading to the apoptotic and necrotic responses. ER exploitation and the subsequent events that lead to these cellular and stress responses might activate a cascade of molecular responses ending up with apoptosis and necrosis. Understanding the molecular interactions that underlay the necrotic/apoptotic responses to the bacteria will increase our knowledge of ACP-CLas, and BT-CLso interactions, and will set the foundation for developing novel, and efficient strategies to disturb these interactions and inhibit the transmission. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Liberibacter" title="Liberibacter">Liberibacter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=psyllid" title=" psyllid"> psyllid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transmission" title=" transmission"> transmission</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=apoptosis" title=" apoptosis"> apoptosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=necrosis" title=" necrosis"> necrosis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83885/insights-into-insect-vectors-liberibacter-interactions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83885.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">146</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">52</span> High Performance Methyl Orange Capture on Magnetic Nanoporous MCM-41 Prepared by Incipient Wetness Impregnation Method</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Talib%20M.%20Albayati">Talib M. The current study, therefore, evaluates the effectiveness of four various configurations for shear strengthening of deep beams with two different types of CFRP materials including sheets and laminates. For this purpose, a total of 10 specimens of deep beams were cast and tested. The shear performance of the strengthened beams is assessed with respect to the cracks’ formation, modes of failure, ultimate strength and the overall stiffness. The obtained results demonstrate the effectiveness of using the CFRP technique on enhancing the shear capacity of deep beams; however, the efficiency varies depending on the material used and the strengthening scheme adopted. Among the four investigated schemes, the highest increase in the ultimate strength is recorded by using the continuous wrap of two layers of CFRP sheets, exceeding a value of 86%, whereas an enhancement of about 36% is achieved by the inclined CFRP laminates. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deep%20beams" title="deep beams">deep beams</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laminates" title=" laminates"> laminates</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shear%20strengthening" title=" shear strengthening"> shear strengthening</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sheets" title=" sheets"> sheets</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55807/shear-strengthening-of-reinforced-concrete-deep-beams-using-carbon-fiber-reinforced-polymers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55807.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">360</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">49</span> Multi-Objective Electric Vehicle Charge Coordination for Economic Network Management under Uncertainty</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ridoy%20Das">Ridoy Das</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Myriam%20Neaimeh"> Myriam Neaimeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yue%20Wang"> Yue Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ghanim%20Putrus"> Ghanim Putrus</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Electric vehicles are a popular transportation medium renowned for potential environmental benefits. However, large and uncontrolled charging volumes can impact distribution networks negatively. Smart charging is widely recognized as an efficient solution to achieve both improved renewable energy integration and grid relief. Nevertheless, different decision-makers may pursue diverse and conflicting objectives. In this context, this paper proposes a multi-objective optimization framework to control electric vehicle charging to achieve both energy cost reduction and peak shaving. A weighted-sum method is developed due to its intuitiveness and efficiency. Monte Carlo simulations are implemented to investigate the impact of uncertain electric vehicle driving patterns and provide decision-makers with a robust outcome in terms of prospective cost and network loading. The results demonstrate that there is a conflict between energy cost efficiency and peak shaving, with the decision-makers needing to make a collaborative decision. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electric%20vehicles" title="electric vehicles">electric vehicles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-objective%20optimization" title=" multi-objective optimization"> multi-objective optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=uncertainty" title=" uncertainty"> uncertainty</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixed%20integer%20linear%20programming" title=" mixed integer linear programming"> mixed integer linear programming</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129629/multi-objective-electric-vehicle-charge-coordination-for-economic-network-management-under-uncertainty" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129629.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">179</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">48</span> The Flora of Bozdağ, Sizma–Konya, Turkey and Its Environs</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Esra%20Ipekci">Esra Ipekci</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murad%20Aydin%20Sanda"> Murad Aydin Sanda</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The flora of Bozdağ (Konya) and its surroundings were investigated between 2003 and 2005 years; 700 herbarium specimens belonging to 482 taxa, 257 genera and 62 families were collected and identified from the area. Due to the intentional ambiguity, analysis of sarcasm is a difficult task not only for a machine but even for a human. Although sarcasm detection has an important effect on sentiment, it is usually ignored in social media analysis because sarcasm analysis is too complicated. While there is a few systems exist which can detect sarcasm, almost no work has been carried out on a study and the review of the existing work in this area. This survey presents a nearly full image of sarcasm detection techniques and the related fields with brief details. The main contributions of this paper include the illustration of the recent trend of research in the sarcasm analysis and we highlight the gaps and propose a new framework that can be explored. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sarcasm%20detection" title="sarcasm detection">sarcasm detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sentiment%20analysis" title=" sentiment analysis"> sentiment analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20media" title=" social media"> social media</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sarcasm%20analysis" title=" sarcasm analysis"> sarcasm analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29885/overview-and-future-opportunities-of-sarcasm-detection-on-social-media-communications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29885.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">458</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">44</span> Water Resources Crisis in Saudi Arabia, Challenges and Possible Management Options: An Analytic Review</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20A.%20Ghanim">A. Of the total water consumption in KSA, the agricultural sector accounts for nearly 87% of the total water use and, therefore, any attempt that overlooks this sector will not help in improving the sustainability of the country’s water resources. KSA Vision 2030 gives priority of water use in the agriculture sector for the regions that have natural renewable water resources. It means that there is little concern for making reuse of municipal wastewater for irrigation purposes in any region in general and in water-scarce regions in particular. The use of treated wastewater is very limited in Saudi Arabia, but it has very considerable potential for future expansion due its numerous beneficial uses. This study reviews the current situation of water resources in Saudi Arabia, providing more highlights on agriculture and wastewater reuse. The reviewed study is proposing some corrective measures for development and better management of water resources in the Kingdom. Suggestions also include consideration of treated water as an alternative source for irrigation in some regions of the country. The study concluded that a sustainable solution for the water crisis in KSA requires implementation of multiple measures in an integrated manner. The integrated solution plan should focus on two main directions: first, improving the current management practices of the existing water resources; second, developing new water supplies from both conventional and non-conventional sources. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saudia%20Arabia" title="Saudia Arabia">Saudia Arabia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20resources" title=" water resources"> water resources</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20crises" title=" water crises"> water crises</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wastewater%20reuse" title=" wastewater reuse"> wastewater reuse</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104315/water-resources-crisis-in-saudi-arabia-challenges-and-possible-management-options-an-analytic-review" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/104315.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">170</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">43</span> Nutrient and Trace Element Content in Some Wild Boletus Taxa from Marmara Region (Turkey)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murad%20Aydin%20%C5%9Eanda">Murad Aydin Şanda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hasan%20H%C3%BCseyin%20Do%C4%9Fan"> Hasan Hüseyin Doğan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C3%96yk%C3%BCm%20%C3%96zt%C3%BCrk"> Öyküm Öztürk</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Element contents were analysed in some wild Boletus taxa [Boletus fechtnerii, Boletus edulis, Boletus dupainii, Boletus calopus, Boletus pulverulentus, Boletus rhodoxanthus] from Marmara region of Turkey by ICP-AES equipment. Typical screening procedures are highly invasive or lethal to the fish. Recent studies show that fish scales biochemically respond to a range of contaminants, including toxic metals, organic compounds, and endocrine disruptors. The present study evaluated the effects of the surface water contaminants on Cyprinus carpio in the Ravi River by comparing DNA extracted non-lethally from their scales to DNA extracted from the scales of fish collected from a controlled fish farm. A single, random sampling was conducted. Fish were broadly categorised into three weight categories (W1, W2 and W3). The experimental samples in the W1, W2 and W3 categories had an average DNA concentration (µg/µl) that was lower than the control samples. All control samples had a single DNA band; whereas the experimental samples in W1 fish had 1 to 2 bands, the experimental samples in W2 fish had two bands and the experimental samples in W3 fish had fragmentation in the form of three bands. These bands exhibit the effects of pollution on fish in the Ravi River. On the basis findings of this study, we propose that fish scales can be successfully employed as a new non-lethal tool for the evaluation of the effect of surface water contaminants. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fish%20scales" title="fish scales">fish scales</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cyprinus%20carpio" title=" Cyprinus carpio"> Cyprinus carpio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heavy%20metals" title=" heavy metals"> heavy metals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-invasive" title=" non-invasive"> non-invasive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DNA%20fragmentation" title=" DNA fragmentation"> DNA fragmentation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28624/fish-scales-as-a-nonlethal-screening-tools-for-assessing-the-effects-of-surface-water-contaminants-in-cyprinus-carpio" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28624.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">414</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">41</span> Ranking the Factors That Influence the Construction Project Success: The Jordanian Perspective</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ghanim%20A.%20Bekr">Ghanim A. They can now post reviews of products at merchant sites and express their views on almost anything in internet forums, discussion groups, and blogs. Therefore, the number of product reviews has grown rapidly. The large numbers of reviews make it difficult for manufacturers or businesses to automatically classify them into different semantic orientations (positive, negative, and neutral). For sentiment classification, most existing methods utilize a list of opinion words whereas this paper proposes a fuzzy approach for evaluating sentiments expressed in customer product reviews, to predict the strength levels (e.g. very weak, weak, moderate, strong and very strong) of customer product reviews by combinations of adjective, adverb and verb. The proposed fuzzy approach has been tested on eight benchmark datasets and obtained 74% accuracy, which leads to help the organization with a more clear understanding of customer's behavior in support of business planning process. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fuzzy%20logic" title="fuzzy logic">fuzzy logic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=customer%20product%20review" title=" customer product review"> customer product review</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sentiment%20analysis" title=" sentiment analysis"> sentiment analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29886/fuzzy-sentiment-analysis-of-customer-product-reviews" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29886.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">363</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">37</span> User Guidance for Effective Query Interpretation in Natural Language Interfaces to Ontologies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aliyu%20Isah%20Agaie">Aliyu Isah Agaie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Masrah%20Azrifah%20Azmi%20Murad"> Masrah Azrifah Azmi Murad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nurfadhlina%20Mohd%20Sharef"> Nurfadhlina Mohd Sharef</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aida%20Mustapha"> Aida Mustapha </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Natural Language Interfaces typically support a restricted language and also have scopes and limitations that naïve users are unaware of, resulting in errors when the users attempt to retrieve information from ontologies. To overcome this challenge, an auto-suggest feature is introduced into the querying process where users are guided through the querying process using interactive query construction system. Guiding users to formulate their queries, while providing them with an unconstrained (or almost unconstrained) way to query the ontology results in better interpretation of the query and ultimately lead to an effective search. In most circumstances, monitoring patients in their real-life environments with low-cost equipment such as cameras and wearable sensors is more important. Inertial sensors, on the other hand, cannot provide enough information on angular dynamics. This research offers a method for tracking 2D joint coordinates using cutting-edge vision algorithms and a single RGB camera. We provide an end-to-end comprehensive deep learning pipeline for marker-less gait parameter estimation, which, to our knowledge, has never been done before. To make our pipeline function in real-time for real-world applications, we leverage the AlphaPose human posture prediction model and a deep learning transformer. We tested our approach on the well-known GPJATK dataset, which produces promising results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gait%20analysis" title="gait analysis">gait analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human%20pose%20estimation" title=" human pose estimation"> human pose estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deep%20learning" title=" deep learning"> deep learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=real%20time%20gait%20estimation" title=" real time gait estimation"> real time gait estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=AlphaPose" title=" AlphaPose"> AlphaPose</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transformer" title=" transformer"> transformer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151203/estimating-gait-parameter-from-digital-rgb-camera-using-real-time-alphapose-learning-architecture" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/151203.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">118</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">35</span> The Perils of Flagging Pirates: How Gender, False Consensus and Normative Messages Influence Digital Piracy Intentions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kate%20Whitman">Kate Whitman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zahra%20Murad"> Zahra Murad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Joe%20Cox"> Joe Cox</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adam%20Cox"> Adam Cox</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study investigates the influence of normative communications on digital piracy intentions. Although descriptive norms are thought to influence behavior, the study examines the potential bias in one's own behavior, leading to false consensus—a phenomenon perpetuating undesirable activities. The research tests the presence of false consensus and the effect of correcting normative predictions on changes in piracy intentions, examining gender differences. Results from a controlled experiment (N = 684) indicate that normative communications, reflecting the "real" norm based on government data (N=5000), increase (decrease) piracy intentions among men (women) underestimating their peers' behavior. Conversely, neither men nor women overestimating their peers' piracy show any notable change in intentions. Considering men consume more illegal content than women, suggesting they pose a higher risk, the study highlights the need for cautious use of normative communications. Therefore, policymakers should minimize the visibility of piracy behavior for effective digital piracy management. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20piracy" title="digital piracy">digital piracy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=false%20consensus" title=" false consensus"> false consensus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=normative%20interventions" title=" normative interventions"> normative interventions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=persuasive%20messages" title=" persuasive messages"> persuasive messages</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182037/the-perils-of-flagging-pirates-how-gender-false-consensus-and-normative-messages-influence-digital-piracy-intentions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182037.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">59</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">34</span> Element Content in Some Wild Amantia Taxa from Marmara Region, Turkey</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hasan%20H%C3%BCseyin%20Do%C4%9Fan">Hasan Hüseyin Doğan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murad%20Ayd%C4%B1n%20%C5%9Eanda"> Murad Aydın Şanda</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Element contents were analyzed in twelve wild Amanita taxa [A. caesarea (Scop.) Anti-piracy messages can cause people to pirate more rather than less, suggesting the presence of psychological reactance. Gender differences in message reactance and the moderating impact of attitudes have not been explored. In this paper, we examine whether messages based on real-world anti-piracy campaigns cause reactance and whether this effect is explained by gender and attitudes. An experiment compares two threatening and one prosocial message against a control group, with changes in piracy intention from past behavior for digital TV/film analysed. The results suggest that the prosocial message is ineffective for both genders. However, the threatening messages have significantly opposing effects on men and women. One threatening message influences women to reduce their piracy intentions by over 50% and men to increase it by 18%. Gender effects are moderated by pre-existing attitudes, with men and women who report the most favorable attitudes towards piracy having the most polarised changes in piracy intentions. The results suggest that men and women process threatening messages differently and that the creative industries should take care when targeting their messages. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piracy" title="piracy">piracy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reactance" title=" reactance"> reactance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=persuasive-messages" title=" persuasive-messages"> persuasive-messages</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TV%2Ffilm" title=" TV/film"> TV/film</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gender" title=" gender"> gender</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161473/psychological-reactance-to-anti-piracy-messages-explained-by-gender-and-attitudes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161473.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">98</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">32</span> Time Variance and Spillover Effects between International Crude Oil Price and Ten Emerging Equity Markets</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murad%20A.%20Bein">Murad A. The results revealed that there are spillover effects from oil markets into almost all emerging equity markets save Slovakia. Besides, the oil supply glut had a homogenous effect on the emerging markets, both net oil-exporting, and oil-importing countries (CEE). Further, the time variance drastically increased during financial turmoil. Indeed, the time variance remained high from 2009 to 2012 in response to aggregate demand shocks (global financial crisis and Eurozone debt crisis) and quantitative easing measures. Interestingly, the time variance was slightly higher for the oil-exporting countries than for some of the CEE countries. Decision-makers in emerging economies should therefore seek policy coordination when dealing with financial turmoil. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crude%20oil" title="crude oil">crude oil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spillover%20effects" title=" spillover effects"> spillover effects</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emerging%20equity" title=" emerging equity"> emerging equity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=time-varying" title=" time-varying"> time-varying</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aggregate%20demand%20shock" title=" aggregate demand shock"> aggregate demand shock</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149809/time-variance-and-spillover-effects-between-international-crude-oil-price-and-ten-emerging-equity-markets" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149809.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">125</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">31</span> JENOSYS: Application of a Web-Based Online Energy Performance Reporting Tool for Government Buildings in Malaysia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Norhayati%20Mat%20Wajid">Norhayati Mat Wajid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdul%20Murad%20Zainal%20Abidin"> Abdul Murad Zainal Abidin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Faiz%20Fadzil"> Faiz Fadzil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohd%20Yusof%20Aizad%20Mukhtar"> Mohd Yusof Aizad Mukhtar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the areas that present an opportunity to reduce the national carbon emission is the energy management of public buildings. To our present knowledge, there is no easy-to-use and centralized mechanism that enables the government to monitor the overall energy performance, as well as the carbon footprint, of Malaysia’s public buildings. Therefore, the Public Works Department Malaysia, or PWD, has developed a web-based energy performance reporting tool called JENOSYS (JKR Energy Online System), which incorporates a database of utility account numbers acquired from the utility service provider for analysis and reporting. For test case purposes, 23 buildings under PWD were selected and monitored for their monthly energy performance (in kWh), carbon emission reduction (in tCO₂eq) and utility cost (in MYR), against the baseline. This paper demonstrates the simplicity with which buildings without energy metering can be monitored centrally and the benefits that can be accrued by the government in terms of building energy disclosure and concludes with the recommendation of expanding the system to all the public buildings in Malaysia. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy-efficient%20buildings" title="energy-efficient buildings">energy-efficient buildings</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20management%20systems" title=" energy management systems"> energy management systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=government%20buildings" title=" government buildings"> government buildings</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=JENOSYS" title=" JENOSYS"> JENOSYS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88725/jenosys-application-of-a-web-based-online-energy-performance-reporting-tool-for-government-buildings-in-malaysia" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88725.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">174</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">30</span> Performance Evaluation of Vermiculite as Adsorbent Material for Solar-Assisted Air-Conditioning in Tropical Climate</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Norhayati%20Mat%20Wajid">Norhayati Mat Wajid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdul%20Murad%20Zainal%20Abidin"> Abdul Murad Zainal Abidin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hasila%20Jarimi"> Hasila Jarimi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kamaruzaman%20Sopian"> Kamaruzaman Sopian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adnan%20Ibrahim"> Adnan Ibrahim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmad%20Fazlizan"> Ahmad Fazlizan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Afif%20Safwan"> Afif Safwan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Solar-adsorption air-conditioning system (SADCS) is an alternative to the conventional vapor compression system (VCS). SADCS have advantages over VCS system, such as 1) a green cooling technology which utilizes solar energy to drive the adsorption/desorption cycle, 2) can be operated using green refrigerant HFC free pure water, 3) mechanically simpler, and 4) lower operating noise level since it has no moving parts other than the magnetic valves. Several advancements have been achieved in these fields in the last decade, but further research is still needed to escalate this technology to a practical level. Hence, this paper presents a literature survey and a review that add insights into the current state-of-the-art of SADCS technologies with emphasis on the practical researches that were conducted at the laboratory scale and commercial level. Using the Media Richness Theory (MRT), this study examines the response of 252 university students on mass communication programs. A questionnaire regarding their perceptions and preferences concerning modes of instruction on vocational courses online, focusing on the four factors of MRT: immediacy of feedback, capacity to include personal focus, conveyance of multiple cues, and variety of language. The outcomes show that immediacy of feedback predicted all criterion variables: suitability of distance learning (DL) for teaching vocational courses, sentiments of students toward DL, perceptions of easiness of evaluation of DL coursework, and the possibility of retaking DL courses. Capacity to include personal focus was another positive predictor of the criterion variables. It predicted students’ sentiments toward DL and the possibility of retaking DL courses. The outcomes are discussed in relation to implications for using DL, as well as constructing an agenda for DL research. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distance%20learning" title="distance learning">distance learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=media%20richness%20theory" title=" media richness theory"> media richness theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=traditional%20learning" title=" traditional learning"> traditional learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vocational%20media%20courses" title=" vocational media courses"> vocational media courses</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172636/distance-learning-in-vocational-mass-communication-courses-during-covid-19-in-kuwait-a-media-richness-perspective-of-students-perceptions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172636.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">75</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">28</span> Forecasting Age-Specific Mortality Rates and Life Expectancy at Births for Malaysian Sub-Populations</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Syazreen%20N.%20Shair">Syazreen N. Two mortality forecasting models are adopted the original Lee-Carter model and its recent modified version, the product ratio coherent model. While the first forecasts the mortality rates for each subpopulation independently, the latter accounts for the relationship between sub-populations. The evaluation of both models is performed using the out-of-sample forecast errors which are mean absolute percentage errors (MAPE) for mortality rates and mean forecast errors (MFE) for life expectancy at births. The best model is then used to perform the long-term forecasts up to the year 2030, the year when Malaysia is expected to become an aged nation. Results suggest that in terms of overall accuracy, the product ratio model performs better than the original Lee-Carter model. The association of lower mortality group (Chinese) in the subpopulation model can improve the forecasts of high mortality groups (Malay and Indian). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coherent%20forecasts" title="coherent forecasts">coherent forecasts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=life%20expectancy%20at%20births" title=" life expectancy at births"> life expectancy at births</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lee-Carter%20model" title=" Lee-Carter model"> Lee-Carter model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=product-ratio%20model" title=" product-ratio model"> product-ratio model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mortality%20rates" title=" mortality rates"> mortality rates</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/61574/forecasting-age-specific-mortality-rates-and-life-expectancy-at-births-for-malaysian-sub-populations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/61574.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">219</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">27</span> Some Metal Levels in Muscle Tissue of Seven Fish Species from the Suğla and Beyşehir Lakes, Turkey</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haluk%20%C3%96zparlak">Haluk Özparlak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murad%20Ayd%C4%B1n%20%C5%9Eanda"> Murad Aydın Şanda</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=G%C3%BCl%C5%9Fin%20Arslan"> Gülşin Arslan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Phoxinellus anatolicus, Carassius gibelio, Sander lucioperca, Vimba vimba tenella, Capoeta capoeta, Tinca tinca from Suğla Lake (Turkey) and Phoxinellus anatolicus, Scardinius erythrophthalmus, Tinca tinca from Beyşehir Lake (Turkey) are economically important fish species and these fish have been consumed as food by local people. Concentrations of Cd, Cr, Ni and Pb in the muscle tissue of all the fish specimens from Suğla and Beyşehir Lakes exceeded the tolerance levels of national and international guidelines. However, concentrations of Cd, Fe, Pb and Zn were below PTWI limits. Therefore, in terms of these metal levels, consumption of fresh filet of examined seven fish species (weekly up to about 300 g/person) doesn’t seem to be objectionable for human health. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bey%C5%9Fehir%20Lake" title="Beyşehir Lake">Beyşehir Lake</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fish" title=" fish"> fish</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metal%20levels" title=" metal levels"> metal levels</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Su%C4%9Fla%20Lake" title=" Suğla Lake"> Suğla Lake</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29001/some-metal-levels-in-muscle-tissue-of-seven-fish-species-from-the-sugla-and-beysehir-lakes-turkey" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29001.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">335</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">26</span> Critical Discourse Analysis of Political TV Talk Show of Pakistani Media </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sumaira%20Saleem">Sumaira Saleem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sajjad%20Hussain"> Sajjad Hussain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Asma%20Kashif%20Shahzad"> Asma Kashif Shahzad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hina%20Shaheen"> Hina Shaheen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study aims at exploring the relationship between language and ideology and how such relationships are represented in the analysis of spoken texts, following Van Dijk’s Socio Cognitive Model (2002). In this study, it is tried to show that political Talk shows broadcast by Private TV channels are working apparatuses of ideology and store meanings which are not always obvious for readers. This analysis was about the situation created by Arslan Iftkhar, the son of ex-Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudry and PTI Chief Imran Khan. Arslan Iftikhar submitted an application against Imran Khan that he is not able to become a member of parliament of Pakistan. In the application, he demanded the documents, which are submitted by Imran Khan at the time of Election to the Election Commission of Pakistan. Murad Ali from PTI also submitted an application against PM Nawaz Sharif to the Election Commission of Pakistan for providing the copies. It also suggests that these talk shows mystify the agency of processes by using various strategies. In other words, critical text analyses reveal how these choices enable speakers to manipulate the realizations of agency and power in the representation of action to produce particular meanings which are not always explicit for all readers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ECP" title="ECP">ECP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CDA" title=" CDA"> CDA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=socio%20cognitive%20model" title=" socio cognitive model"> socio cognitive model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ideology" title=" ideology"> ideology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TV%20channels" title=" TV channels"> TV channels</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power" title=" power"> power</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17046/critical-discourse-analysis-of-political-tv-talk-show-of-pakistani-media" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17046.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">738</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">25</span> Effect of Antioxidants Addition in Combination with Milk Re Pasteurization on the Physical, Chemical and Sensory Properties of Condensed Yoghurt</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmoud%20Abu-Ghoush">Mahmoud Abu-Ghoush</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murad%20Al%20Holy"> Murad Al Holy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Our main goal in this project is to study the causes and finding solutions for both the hydrolytic and the oxidative rancidity that can be produced during condensed yoghurt production. The re pasteurization of the pasteurized milk and the addition of different types of antioxidants (ascorbic acid and propyl gallate) were used to achieve this goal. Chemical, physical, microbial and sensory tests were done to evaluate the product. It was found that there were significant differences between the different treatments and the control regarding the peroxide value. This means that the addition of both types of antioxidants have a positive effect in decreasing the rancidity value. However, it was found that there were some samples have hydrolytic rancidity flavour without any type of oxidative rancidity (low peroxide value). To overcome this problem the re pasteurization step was used to destroy all the vegetative form of microbes. It was found that this treatment was very useful in controlling the rancidity flavour according to the sensory evaluation of the condensed yoghurt products for several batches. The best condensed yoghurt which contains 0.25% ascorbic acid exhibited the highest sensory properties values. Also, it has the ability in lowering the oxidative rancidity in the combination with the re pasteurization step of the pasteurized milk. This suggests that a higher quality and stable condensed yoghurt can be obtained upon using this combination. These results may help producers in selecting the best treatment methods to overcome the rancidity flavor in this type of condensed yoghurt. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antioxidants" title="antioxidants">antioxidants</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=condensed%20yoghurt" title=" condensed yoghurt"> condensed yoghurt</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=repasturization" title=" repasturization"> repasturization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=condensed%20milk" title=" condensed milk"> condensed milk</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19672/effect-of-antioxidants-addition-in-combination-with-milk-re-pasteurization-on-the-physical-chemical-and-sensory-properties-of-condensed-yoghurt" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19672.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">286</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">24</span> Prevalence of High Risk Human Papillomavirus in Cervical Dysplasia and Cancer Samples from Twin Cities in Pakistan </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sana%20Gul">Sana Gul</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sheeba%20Murad"> Sheeba Murad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aneela%20Javed"> Aneela Javed</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is small DNA virus mostly infecting mucosa and cutaneous keratinocytes. So far, more than 200 Human papillomaviruses are known. HPV have been divided into high- and low-risk on the basis of their oncogenic potential. High risk HPV is considered to be the main etiological cause for cervical cancer. Objective: Current study was designed to screen the local cervical cancer patients from the twin cities of Pakistan for the occurance of high risk HPV. Methodology: A total of 67 formalin fixed paraffin-embedded samples of cervical cancer biopsies were obtained from the government hospitals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Cervical cancer biopsies were examined for the presence of HPV DNA. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used for the amplification of a region in the HPV-L1 gene for the general detection of the Papilloma virus and for the genotype specific detection of high risk HPV 16 and 18 using the GP5/GP6 primers and genotype specific primers respectively. Results: HPV DNA was detected in 59 out of 67 samples analyzed. 30 samples showed the presence of HPV16 while 22 samples were positive for HPV 18 . HPV subtype could not be determined in 7 samples. Conclusion: Our results show a strong association between HPV infection and cervical cancer among women in twin cities of Pakistan. One way to minimize the disease burden in relation to HPV infection in Pakistani population is the use of prophylactic vaccines and routine screening. An early diagnosis of HPV infection will allow better health management to reduce the risk of developing cervical cancer. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
