And the name of his mother Maachah, daughter of Abishalom. <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And he went in all the sins of his father which he did before him: and his heart was not perfect with Jehovah as the heart of David his father. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>For on account of David, Jehovah his God gave to him a light in Jerusalem, to raise up a son after him, to cause Jerusalem to stand: <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Because David did the right in the eyes of Jehovah, and turned not aside from all which he commanded all the days of his life, only in the word of Uriah the Hittite. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And war was between Rehoboam and between Jeroboam all the days of his life.<p> <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>And the remainder of the words of Abijam, and all which he did, are they not written upon the book of the words of the days to the kings of Judah? and war was between Abijam and Jeroboam.<p> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And Abijam will lie down with his fathers; and they will bury him in the city of David; and Asa his son will reign in his stead.<p> <A name="10"></a><p class="hdg">Asa Reigns in Judah<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../2_chronicles/14.htm">2 Chronicles 14:1–15</a>; <a href ="../2_chronicles/15.htm#8">2 Chronicles 15:8–19</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>And in the twentieth year to Jeroboam king of Israel, Asa reigned over Judah. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Forty and one years he reigned in Jerusalem. And his mother's name Maachah, daughter of Abishalom. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And Asa will do the straight in the eyes of Jehovah, as David his father. <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And he will take away the holy places from the land, and he will turn aside all the blocks which his fathers made. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And also Maachah, his mother, he will turn aside from being mistress, because she made terror to a statue; and Asa will cut off her terror, and burn by the torrent Kidron. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And the heights were not turned aside: but Asa's heart was perfect with Jehovah all his days. <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And he will bring in the holy things of his fathers, and his holy things to the house of Jehovah, silver and gold and vessels.<p> <A name="17"></a><p class="hdg">War between Asa and Baasha<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../2_chronicles/16.htm">2 Chronicles 16:1–6</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>And war was between Asa and between Baasha, king of Israel, all their days. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And Baasha, king of Israel, will come up against Judah, and he will build Ramah, so that he will not give to go out or to come in to Asa king of Judah. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And Asa will take all the silver and the gold being left in the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king's house, and he will give them into the hand of his servants: and king Asa will send them to the son of Hadad, son of Tabrimon, son of Hezion, king of Aram, dwelling in Damascus, saying, <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>A covenant between me and between thee, between my father and between thy father: behold, I sent to thee a gift of silver and gold; go break thy covenant with Baasha king of Israel, and he will go up from me. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>And the son of Hadad will hear to king Asa, and he will send the chiefs of the forces which were to him against the cities of Israel, and he will strike Ijon and Dan, and the meadow of the House of Oppression, and all Cinneroth with all the land of Naphtali. <A name="22"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>And it will be when Baasha heard, and he will leave off building Ramah, and he will dwell in Tirzah. <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>And king Asa caused all Judah to hear; none free: and they will lift up the stones of Ramah and its woods which Baasha built, and king Asa will build with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpeh.<p> <A name="24"></a><p class="hdg">Jehoshaphat Succeeds Asa<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../2_chronicles/17.htm">2 Chronicles 17:1–19</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_kings/15-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And the remainder of all the words of Asa and all his power and all which he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written upon the book of the words of the days to the kings of Judah?
