<span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-2.htm#aramaic"><b>2</b></a></span>In which you previously walked according to the worldly course of this world, and according to the will of the supreme ruler of the air, the spirit which is active in the children of disobedience. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-3.htm#aramaic"><b>3</b></a></span>In those very deeds in which we were also corrupted from the very beginning through the lusts of the flesh, fulfilling the wills of the flesh and of the mind: thereby we became completely the children of wrath, even as others. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-4.htm#aramaic"><b>4</b></a></span>But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-5.htm#aramaic"><b>5</b></a></span>Even when we were dead in our sins, has made us live together with Christ, by whose grace we are saved; <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-6.htm#aramaic"><b>6</b></a></span>And he has raised us up with him, and seated us with him in heaven, through Jesus Christ. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-7.htm#aramaic"><b>7</b></a></span>In the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Jesus Christ. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-8.htm#aramaic"><b>8</b></a></span>For it is by grace that you are saved through faith; not of your doing: it is the gift of God: <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-9.htm#aramaic"><b>9</b></a></span>Not of works, lest any man should boast. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-10.htm#aramaic"><b>10</b></a></span>For we are his creation, created through Jesus Christ ultimately for good works, which God has before ordained that we should live in them.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-11.htm#aramaic"><b>11</b></a></span>Wherefore remember that you were Gentiles in the flesh from the beginning, and you were called Uncircumcision, differing from that which is called Circumcision, which is the work of the hands in the flesh. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-12.htm#aramaic"><b>12</b></a></span>At that time you were without Christ, being aliens to the customs of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, without hope, and without God in the world. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-13.htm#aramaic"><b>13</b></a></span>But now, through Jesus Christ, you who sometimes were far off are brought near by the blood of Christ. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-14.htm#aramaic"><b>14</b></a></span>For he is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the fence of separation between them; <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-15.htm#aramaic"><b>15</b></a></span>And he has abolished by his precious body, the enmity between them, and he has abolished by his commandments, the ordinances of the law, that he may create, in his person, from the two, a new man, thus making peace; <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-16.htm#aramaic"><b>16</b></a></span>And he reconciled both in one body with God, and with his cross he destroyed the enmity: <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-17.htm#aramaic"><b>17</b></a></span>And he came and preached peace to you who are far away and to those who are near. <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-18.htm#aramaic"><b>18</b></a></span>Through him we both are able to draw near by one Spirit to the Father.<p> <span class="reftext"><a href="/parallel/ephesians/2-19.htm#aramaic"><b>19</b></a></span>Thus from henceforth you are neither strangers, nor foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and children of the household of God;
