Historisch am offensichtlichsten ist, dass die Türkei Schutz vor sowjetischer Aggression, beträchtliche militärische Unterstützung sowie wirtschaftliche Erleichterungen innerhalb des Marshallplans und Zugang türkischer Arbeiter*innen nach Westeuropa und insbesondere in Deutschland erhielt. Außerdem bedeutete die Mitgliedschaft der neugeborenen Republik im Bündnis, zumindest symbolisch, dass die Richtung des Landes in Richtung Westen ging. Im Gegenzug entsandte die NATO Truppen, errichtete Militärstützpunkte und Plattformen zur Sammlung nachrichtendienstlicher Erkenntnisse, kontrollierte den sowjetischen Zugang zum Mittelmeer, In an age in which the objectification of the body and psyche had already been carried to completion by the disciplines of medicine and science, this definition was remarkably farsighted. Today, on the other hand, health seems to designate processes in which the body and soul are to be “produced” in such a way as to become immune to statistically calculated health hazards. The associated exercises can be experienced as pleasurable, but they also represent two-edged acts in which bodies are managed primarily as potentials. Here persons develop a relationship of mistrust with their own bodys – a relationship persistently aimed at successful therapy. Whatever you do, don’t be flabby, faltering, tense, inhibited, or, worst of all, have bad posture. Against this background, the THERAPEUTIC ALLIANCES symposium will be devoted to historical and current images of artists. Are the days past in which the melancholy, consumptive, hysterical or hypochondriacal are considered artistically productive? Indem sie sich mit den aktuellen ökologischen Krisen befasst, leistet diese Kunst einen zentralen Beitrag zur Gesellschaftskritik (Rapp 2022a). Diese für das 21. In modern cinema they are free to move in different directions and to interact in innumerous ways. At the same time they remain tied to each other. The term alliance contains the possibility of collaboration and therefore represents a positive definition of this interdependency. I analyze three different filmmakers and their particular experimental practices of connecting sounds and images. Robert Nelson (b. 1930)—American artist and filmmaker—re-evaluates the sound-image relationship ironically and loosens its boundaries. French filmmakers Jean-Marie Straub (b. 1933) and Danièle Huillet (1936-2006) oppose visual landscape and speech in their advanced sound films.
