Based on an unpublished lead seal, the paper proposes a somehow earlier date than the middle of the eighth century accepted so far. This date seems to accord with a number of reforms undertaken during the reign of Leon III (717-741) and the early reign of Konstantinos V (741-775) which effectively founded the institution of the themata. Moreover, building upon a Catalogue of 19 officials from the eighth century ( of which six were unknown so far ), this study analyses the early history and the administrative structure of the thema of the Boukellarioi. The Catalogue includes the pertaining sigillogr aphical evidence (in total 22 seals are being published - plus three in the Appendix -, of which 15 had not been properly published) and includes a historical and/or sigillogr aphical commentary.</div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="f15 panel-box rounded shadow-none border"> <h4 class="mt-0 heading-count">Authors</h4> <div class="mb-3"> <article-authors tid="28022287" list="[{&quot;name&quot;:&quot;Christos Malatras&quot;,&quot;sequence&quot;:1}]" verified="[]" page="work" ></article-authors> </div> <div class="alert alert-warning mb-0"> <h5 class="mt-0 bg-warning text-dark px-3 rounded d-inline-block"> I am an author on this paper </h5> <div class="font-weight-bold f13"> Click your name to claim this paper and add it to your profile. </div> </div> </div> <div class="f15 panel-box rounded shadow-none border"> <h4 class="mt-0 heading-count">Reviews</h4> <div class="d-flex flex-wrap flex-md-nowrap"> <div class="flex-grow-1"> <h4 class="f16"> Primary Rating <a href="javascript:;" data-toggle="tooltip" data-placement="right" title="The primary rating indicates the level of overall quality for the paper."> <i class="ivu-icon ivu-icon-md-help-circle f18 ml-2"></i> </a> </h4> <div class="d-flex flex-wrap flex-md-nowrap align-items-center alert mb-0"> <div class="d-flex align-items-center justify-content-center"> <Rate disabled allow-half value="3.8" style="font-size: 28px;"></Rate> <strong class="f20 m-3" style="color: #f5a623;">3.8</strong> </div> <div class="text-muted mx-4"> Not enough ratings </div> </div> <h4 class="f16"> Secondary Ratings <a href="javascript:;" data-toggle="tooltip" data-placement="right" title="Secondary ratings independently reflect strengths or weaknesses of the paper."> <i class="ivu-icon ivu-icon-md-help-circle f18 ml-2"></i> </a> </h4> <div class="d-flex flex-wrap flex-md-nowrap alert"> <div class="d-flex flex-shrink-0 align-items-center mr-3"> <h5 class="my-0">Novelty</h5> <strong class="mx-4">-</strong> </div> <div class="d-flex flex-shrink-0 align-items-center mr-3"> <h5 class="my-0">Significance</h5> <strong class="mx-4">-</strong> </div> <div class="d-flex flex-shrink-0 align-items-center mr-3"> <h5 class="my-0">Scientific rigor</h5> <strong class="mx-4">-</strong> </div> </div> </div> <div class="flex-shrink-0"> <div class="border bg-light py-2 px-4"> <h5 class="mb-1">Rate this paper</h5> <Rate class="f24" @on-change="function(value){ location.href='https://www.peeref.com/works/28022287/comments?rating='+value }"></Rate> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div id="collection" class="f15 panel-box rounded shadow-none border"> <h4 class="mt-0 heading-count">Recommended</h4> <div class="my-3"> <ul class="nav nav-pills border-bottom pb-3" style="list-style: none; padding-left: 0;"> <li class="active"> <a href="#articles_from_related" data-toggle="tab" class="mx-0 f15"> <strong>Related</strong> </a> </li> <li class=""> <a href="#articles_from_authors" data-toggle="tab" class="mx-0 f15"> <strong>From Same Authors</strong> </a> </li> <li class=""> <a href="#articles_from_journal" data-toggle="tab" class="mx-0 f15"> <strong>From Same Journal</strong> </a> </li> </ul> <div class="tab-content"> <div id="articles_from_related" class="tab-pane active"> <div class="my-4 border-bottom"> <div> <span class="d-inline-block badge badge-blue"> Article </span> <span class="d-inline-block badge badge-cyan"> Multidisciplinary Sciences </span> </div> <h4> <a href="https://www.peeref.com/works/82120380" class="text-dark hover-underline">Shrouded in history: Unveiling the ways of life of an early Muslim population in Santarém, Portugal (8th-10th century AD)</a> </h4> <p class="text-ellipsis-2">Rebecca Anne MacRoberts, Marco Liberato, Xavier Roca-Rada, Maria Joao Valente, Claudia Relvado, Teresa Matos Fernandes, Cristina Barrocas Dias, Bastien Llamas, Herminia Vasconcelos Vilar, Bernd R. By analyzing the texts using the method of historical contextualization, it is found that monoculture has been subject to rich debates in history, not just as a rationalist technology, but also as an example of non-rational forestry failing to deliver sustainable yields. Moreover, historical forestry science representatives sometimes understood rational forest management as a pursuit of complexity, site-specific solutions, and bottom-up approaches. Therefore, our understanding of forest use and society-environment relations can benefit from more historical contextualization. </div> </div> <div class="d-flex justify-content-between"> <p class="font-weight-bold"> <span class="text-primary">AMBIO</span> (2024) </p> <div class="flex-shrink-0"> <a class="btn btn-outline-primary btn-sm" href="https://www.peeref.com/works/82451262/add-to-collection" target="_blank"> <strong>Add to Collection</strong> </a> </div> </div> </div> <div class="my-4 border-bottom"> <div> <span class="d-inline-block badge badge-blue"> Article </span> <span class="d-inline-block badge badge-cyan"> Chemistry, Analytical </span> </div> <h4> <a href="https://www.peeref.com/works/24766921" class="text-dark hover-underline">Characterization of liquor remains in Beibaie site, central China during the 8th century BCE</a> </h4> <p class="text-ellipsis-2">Jingpu Li, Jiyun Yang, Jun Cao, Puheng Nan, Jie Gao, Danshu Shi, Bin Han, Yimin Yang</p> <div class="d-flex mb-3"> <div class="flex-shrink-0 d-none d-sm-block"> <img src="https://peeref-open.s3.amazonaws.com/storage/images/covers/5871.jpg" alt="" class="border mr-3" width="100"> </div> <div class="p-3 rounded" style="background-color: #e8f3ff;"> <strong>Summary:</strong> The study of liquid residues in archaeological contexts has been rarely reported, but it is important for understanding the history of liquor making. Using a historical methodology, the article analyses the context of ten global disasters and finds that the location of the disaster was the main factor determining whether postcards were produced. If the disaster occurred in a region where stakeholders had interests, the opportunity to produce postcards was not wasted. Remote regions, regardless of the death toll, were less likely to be depicted, especially if the population was marginalised. The barbarian images on the bowls are identified as Avar, and are linked to the 626 Avar-Persian siege of Constantinople. These images can be found in key parts of the work, including the beginning of the Prolegomena to the Allegories of the Iliad, the introduction to the Allegories of the Odyssey, and the conclusion of the Allegories of the Odyssey. The images consist of references to Herodotus, stories of famous engineers, and sea imagery. They serve different purposes, with the sea representing the classical image of Homer as the ocean and the engineer symbolizing the writer. It is unclear whether Tzetzes planned the Homeric Allegories as a unitary work from the beginning, but the Allegories of the Odyssey were certainly written as a conclusion to the Allegories of the Iliad. </div> </div> <div class="d-flex justify-content-between"> <p class="font-weight-bold"> <span class="text-primary">BYZANTINISCHE ZEITSCHRIFT</span> (2023) </p> <div class="flex-shrink-0"> <a class="btn btn-outline-primary btn-sm" href="https://www.peeref.com/works/29079425/add-to-collection" target="_blank"> <strong>Add to Collection</strong> </a> </div> </div> </div> <div class="my-4 border-bottom"> <div> <span class="d-inline-block badge badge-blue"> Article </span> <span class="d-inline-block badge badge-cyan"> Medieval &amp; Renaissance Studies </span> </div> <h4> <a href="https://www.peeref.com/works/29079428" class="text-dark hover-underline">Of tortoise necks and dialects.
