A specific set of images recurs throughout the work, tracing the overall structure of a unified poem: the 'Homeric Allegories'. These images can be found in key parts of the work, including the beginning of the Prolegomena to the Allegories of the Iliad, the introduction to the Allegories of the Odyssey, and the conclusion of the Allegories of the Odyssey. The images consist of references to Herodotus, stories of famous engineers, and sea imagery. They serve different purposes, with the sea representing the classical image of Homer as the ocean and the engineer symbolizing the writer. The relativistic Hartree-Fock theory provides an appropriate description of PSS restoration in realistic nuclei, especially for pseudo-spin doublets with high angular momenta. This paper reviews the studies of PSS within the RHF theory, focusing on the effects of the Fock terms. The mechanism responsible for the PSS restoration of high-l orbits is emphasized, revealing the manifestation of nuclear in-medium effects on PSS. The important role of the rho-T coupling, which mainly contributes via the Fock terms, is introduced in combination with the relations between PSS and various nuclear phenomena. As a consequence of the nuclear force in complex nuclear many-body systems, PSS and its mechanism can deepen our understanding of nuclear microstructure and related phenomena, and provide insights into the nature of the nuclear force, enriching our knowledge of nuclear physics.

SYMMETRY-BASEL (2024)

 Add to Collection

 Article Biochemistry & Molecular Biology

Revealing 2-dimethylhydrazino-2-alkyl alkynyl sphingosine derivatives as sphingosine kinase 2 inhibitors: Some hints on the structural basis for selective inhibition

Macarena Corro-Moron, Albert Granell, Varbina Ivanova, Elena Domingo, Raul Beltran-Debon, Xavier Barril, Maria-Jesus Sanz, M. Despite their likely manufacture in Constantinople, their unique shape and decoration suggest a non-Roman origin. A similar silver object is identified as an example of this type of drinking bowl. The barbarian images on the bowls are identified as Avar, and are linked to the 626 Avar-Persian siege of Constantinople.
