Geggel.</h1><div class="sm:pl-8 lg:pl-0 sm:pr-8 lg:pr-0 prose prose-slate dark:prose-invert"><p>I'm an editor at <a href="https://www.livescience.com/author/laura-geggel" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">Live Science</a>, where I edit the archaeology/history channel and the popular Life's Little Mysteries series. I also report on several beats, including paleontology, animals, archaeology and Earth science. Depending on the day, I'll debunk unsound scientific claims, such as the <a href="https://www.livescience.com/do-not-wash-fruits-vegetables-with-soap.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">suggestion by a doctor that went viral</a> at the beginning of the pandemic that people should wash their produce with soap. (After the article came out, the doctor changed course.) And taking a hard look at a claim that the <a href="https://www.livescience.com/64176-lost-city-atlantis-spain.html" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">fabled city of Atlantis is in Spain</a>.</p><p>My work has appeared in <a href="http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/25/trampoline-injuries-down-but-caution-urged/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">The New York Times</a>, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/newssearch/?query=Laura%20Geggel&sort=Relevance&datefilter=All%20Since%202005" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">The Washington Post</a>, Popular Science, Spectrum News (a site on autism research), Focus at Harvard Medical School and Scholastic's SuperScience and Science World. I earned my master of arts degree in journalism and an advanced certificate in science, health and environmental reporting from New York University's <a href="http://journalism.nyu.edu/graduate/courses-of-study/science-health-and-environmental-reporting" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute</a>. I'm also a photographer, <a href="/videos">video editor</a> and podcast editor.
