Sasse resigned on January 8, 2023.<sup id="cite_ref-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-1">[1]</a></sup> The other <a href="/United_States_Senate_special_election_in_California,_2024" title="United States Senate special election in California, 2024">special election</a> was held to fill the final weeks of the six-year term that Sen. <a href="/Dianne_Feinstein" title="Dianne Feinstein">Dianne Feinstein</a> (D-Calif.) was elected to in 2018.
