Students can use it for orientation and to showcase their thesis after graduation. To faculties, the repository means a safe and persistent digital archive, that also helps making their programmes more visible.</p> <p><strong>Uploading your thesis</strong><br /> If your supervisor or educational administration office has asked you to upload your theses, please submit it via the <a href="https://upload-studenttheses.universiteitleiden.nl/">Leiden University Thesis Submission System</a> (Vireo). A manual for uploading and information on the procedure can be found on the <a href="https://www.library.universiteitleiden.nl/students/upload-your-thesis">University Library website</a>.</p> <p><strong>Copyright rules for using theses from the repository</strong><br /> The rights and obligations of the student (copyright owner), Leiden University Libraries (repository management) and the users of the repository are stated in the Student Repository License that is accepted upon submission. The full license text can be consulted by clicking on the license icons that are shown with open access (downloadable) files.<br /> The rights and obligations of the user are:</p> <blockquote><p>Users of the Student Repository can copy and adapt some or all of the thesis. Users are only permitted to do this, or to publish the results, if they do so for their own study and / or teaching or research purposes and if they indicate the name of the Student and the location of the thesis.<br /> For the use of the thesis with the object of acquiring a monetary advantage by means of sale, loan, transfer, lease, provision, or another form of exploitation of (a copy of) the thesis, the user must ask the Student for permission.</p></blockquote> <p><strong>Embargoed content</strong><br /> Availability of the full thesis depends upon the mutual approval of the author and educational board or supervisor. Bachelor theses are usually closed access, unless both parties have agreed on publication. Master theses are usually available in open access, unless both parties have decided on an embargo. Reasons for an embargo include an upcoming publication, commercial parties involved in the project or sensitive subject matter. Leiden University Library will not provide access to closed publications. </p> <p><strong>Policies and take down procedure</strong><br /> To ensure that we meet high quality standards as a repository, the Student Repository has adopted an <a href="https://scholarlypublications.universiteitleiden.nl/content/Metadata-Policy" target="_blank">OpenDOAR policy</a>. This policy is a set of agreements about the type of content, clear licensing, measures to maintain the integrity and interoperability of our systems, and methods for preservation in the long term. A take down procedure is part of the policies of our repository.<br /> If a publication in our repository infringes upon your rights, please contact either the <a href="mailto:scriptie@library.leidenuniv.nl;r.m.de.jong@library.leidenuniv.nl?subject=Takedown">repository manager</a> or the coordinator of the educational programme in question. In your request let us know:</p> <ul> <li>The url of the infringing publication</li> <li>Whether you are the author of the publication</li> <li>The reason for starting the procedure</li> </ul> <p>As a part of our response we may (temporarily) close the publication and/or remove metadata if needed. </p> <p><strong>Joining our repository</strong><br /> The Student Repository is open for theses from educational programmes that take part in the repository. This is a decision by the faculty or programme board.
