<A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>they answered him, no, and he said to them, cast the net on the right side of the vessel, and ye shall find, so they cast it, and it was so full of fish they were not able to draw it. <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>thereupon the favourite disciple of Jesus said to Peter, "it is the Lord." as soon as Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt on his coat, (for he was stript) and threw himself into the sea. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>as for the other disciples, they came in the bark dragging the net full of fish, for they were but about two hundred cubits distant from land.<p> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>assoon as they were come to land, they saw fish frying upon a fire of coals there, and bread. <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Jesus said to them, bring some of the fish you have now caught. <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Simon Peter therefore went aboard, and drew the net to land loaded with an hundred and fifty three great fish: and notwithstanding the number, the net did not break.<p> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>come, said Jesus, let us dine, but none of the disciples offer'd to ask him, who he was; for they saw well enough that it was the Lord. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Jesus then advanc'd, and taking bread, he gave them some, and fish likewise. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>this was the third time that Jesus appear'd to his disciples, after he was risen from the dead.<p> <A name="16"></a><p class="hdg">Jesus and Peter<p><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>So when they had dined, Jesus said to Simon Peter, Simon son of Jonas, do you love me more than these do? yes, Lord, said he, you know that I love you. Jesus reply'd, feed my lambs. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>then he ask'd him the second time, Simon son of Jonas do you love me? yes, Lord, said he; you know that I love you. Jesus reply'd, feed my sheep. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Jesus said to him the third time, Simon son of Jonas, do you love me? Peter was grieved at his asking him the third time, "do you love me?" and he said to him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.
