The historic comparison emphasizes the fact that the news coverage of medicine was more consensual than today because the scientific discourse wasn’t controversial. Cet article propose une analyse du processus de construction des rubriques scientifiques, entre le début des années 1950 et le début des années 1980, dans les médias généralistes français. À partir du cas plus spécifique de la médecine, il montre que l’information diffusée sur cette discipline occupait une place « à part », au sens où elle était relativement bien contrôlée par les autorités médicales en collaboration avec un petit groupe de journalistes spécialisés. Si le médecin-poète pousse cet appel à la réconciliation, c'est bien que la guerre semble déclarée entre art et science après le premier conflit mondial 1. Mais la revue Épidaure se propose justement de révoquer le divorce entre ces deux cultures pour renouer une relation antique-comme en témoigne son titre en référence au lieu où, jadis, s'élevait le temple d'Asclépios. Mais cette main tendue n'est pas propre à Épidaure, loin s'en faut, pendant la période de l'Entre-deux-guerres : d'autres périodiques à vocation médico-littéraire proposent de (re)faire confluer art et médecine. Certes, depuis la fin du XIXème, de nombreuses revues médicales circulent, grâce à la libération de la presse en 1881, l'évolution des techniques d'impression et les facilités de communication-telles la Chronique médicale 2 et AEsculape, qui naissent avant la Grande Guerre. Cependant, on assiste dans les années 1920 à une véritable explosion des parutions à vocation non pas scientifique mais médico-littéraire, dirigées par des médecins amateurs de littérature. Entre les gazettes de la fin de l’époque moderne et les organes de la presse de masse apparus un siècle plus tard, une véritable «civilisation du journal » (D. Kalifa, P. Régnier, M.-È. Thérenty, A. Vaillant, 2011) s’est épanouie, au gré des luttes pour la liberté de la presse, du développement industriel et de l’alphabétisation massive des populations. Si pendant longtemps l’historiographie a privilégié un prisme politique pour l’étudier, depuis deux décennies les recherches ont porté une grande attention aux dimensions culturelles, sociales et matérielles des journaux. C’est ce renouvellement historiographique qu’il s’agit d’approfondir, à partir d’un terrain d’étude : les espaces méditerranéens. Ceux-ci n’ont pas été précurseurs dans le développement d’une presse moderne, à l’inverse d’espaces plus septentrionaux (comme le Royaume-Uni) ou atlantiques (États-Unis). Toutefois, ils sont entrés progressivement dans cette nouvelle « civilisation du journal ». Nous prenons l’exemple de Cinémonde en nous focalisant non pas sur les stars, mais sur le traitement des débats traditionnellement associés à la cinéphilie savante telle qu’elle s’est élaborée au même moment dans les revues politiques et/ou intellectuelles. Il s’agit de mettre en lumière une dimension jusqu’alors impensée de ces magazines populaires, qui ont contribué à leur manière aux débats cinéphiles. Cette démarche nous conduit ainsi à envisager la place occupée par Cinémonde dans le champ des publications cinéphiles qui (re)naissent dans la France d’après-guerre. En effet, on pourrait penser que la spécialisation de la médecine et l'autonomisation du champ littéraire marqueraient la fin de leur flirt historique, placé sous le signe commun d'Apollon. Pourtant il n'en est rien, et il existe d'ailleurs tout un corpus auquel on n'avait jusqu'ici pas prêté attention : celui des revues médico-littéraires 2. Are such experiences comprehensible through an analysis of the archives originating in the hospital? This reflection forms part of a study concerning the circumstances in which women were placed in psychiatric institutions, in Belgium during interwar period (1918-1940); its ultimate objective is to come to an understanding of the social, individual and familial situations that lead to a decision to intern a woman in a closed psychiatric institution. Here, the concept of experience is used to ascertain whether a different understanding of psychiatry is viable, that is to say, to understand it as a personal life-story and as a social fact. Could we, by dint of the psychiatric archives produced by medical institutions, go beyond institutional and medical issues, so as to understand how those placed in a psychiatric institution lived through their mental illness? The objective of this article is also to prepare several methodological markers with respect to issues of interpretation, of individual experience and of emotion. This article is not so much a summing-up of the results of research conducted in psychiatric archives, but rather a deliberation on the historian's approach and appropriate course of action on the question of first-hand experience in psychiatry. FR : Cet article présente une réflexion exploratoire sur la question de l'expé-rience des patients placés en institution psychiatrique, dans sa dimension historique. Cette expérience est-elle saisissable, via les archives produites par l'hôpital ? La réflexion part d'une étude des circonstances de placement de femmes en psychiatrie, dans la Belgique de l'entre-deux-guerres, dont l'objectif est d'appréhender quelles sont les situations sociales, individuelles et familiales qui aboutissent à une décision d'internement en institution psychiatrique fermée. La notion d'expérience est ici mobilisée pour voir s'il est possible de comprendre la psychiatrie autrement, c'est-à-dire la comprendre comme vécu et comme fait social. Peut-on, à partir des archives psychiatriques produites par les institutions hospitalières, dépasser les questions institutionnelles et médicales, pour saisir comment la maladie mentale a été expérimentée par les personnes placées ? L'objectif de cet article est aussi de poser quelques jalons méthodologiques relatifs aux questions de l'interprétation, du vécu et de l'émotion. L'objectif de ce programme consistait à étudier comment les Étrusques sont devenus un objet d'étude autonome et unitaire au moment de la construction des nations européennes. Ce troisième volume complète le parcours chronologique par l'étude de la période qui suit la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. L'équipe de chercheurs, réunie du 14 au 16 septembre 2015, s'est demandée si la chute du fascisme en Italie et du nazisme en Allemagne avait mis fin à la période de crise à laquelle a dû faire face l'étruscologie au moment de la Seconde Guerre mondiale et si elle avait inauguré une nouvelle période pour les études sur les Étrusques. En clair, l'Europe politique at -elle donné un élan aux études sur les Étrusques ou les étruscologues ont-ils d'eux-mêmes cherché en Europe un renouveau qu'ils ne trouvaient pas dans leur seul pays ? La question revient à se demander dans quelle mesure les étruscologues ont adhéré à ces valeurs européennes et dans quelle mesure ils s'en ont servi de filtre pour orienter leurs études. On étudie ainsi quel a été le rêve européen des étruscologues d'après-guerre, comment il a influencé la question des origines des Etrusques et comment il a rendu les Etrusques populaires, et comment il s'est heurté aux réalités d'une Europe divisée. The proceedings of this conference held at Amiens and Saint-Valéry-sur-Somme follow the volumes of the conferences of 2015 and 2016 on the history of etruscology in the 20th century within a program promoted and financed since 2011 by the Institut Universitaire de France. The goal of the program is to study how the Etruscans became an autonomous object of study during the construction of the European nations. This third volume completes the chronological route through the study of the period that followed the World War Two. A team of scholars gathered on September 14-16, 2015, and questioned if the fall of fascism in Italy and nazism in Germany put an end to a period of crisis faced by etruscology during World War Two and if it marked the beginning of a new period in Etruscan studies. In other words, did the political construction of Europe give a new impulse to the studies on the Etruscans or did the etruscologists themselves search in Europe for a renewal that they could not find in their own countries? The issue was to ask to what extent the etruscologists joined these European values and how they used them as a filter in order to direct their studies.
