This suggests a method of seduction or persuasion that is not straightforward but rather manipulative. Historically, this reflects the tactics used by leaders like Antiochus IV Epiphanes, who sought to win over the Jewish people through deceptive promises and appealing rhetoric. In a spiritual sense, it warns believers to be wary of those who use charming words to lead them away from their faith.
he will corrupt
The term "corrupt" comes from the Hebrew "chaneph," meaning to pollute or defile. This indicates a moral and spiritual degradation, suggesting that the influence of this leader will lead people away from righteousness. Theologically, it underscores the danger of compromising one's beliefs and the ease with which one can be led astray when not firmly grounded in faith.
those who violate the covenant
The "covenant" refers to the sacred agreement between God and His people, particularly the Mosaic Covenant given to the Israelites. To "violate" it means to break or disregard this divine agreement. Historically, this could refer to Jews who abandoned their faith under pressure or temptation. Spiritually, it serves as a reminder of the importance of faithfulness to God's commands and the consequences of turning away from His promises.
but the people who know their God
The phrase "know their God" emphasizes an intimate and personal relationship with the Divine. The Hebrew word "yada" for "know" implies a deep, experiential knowledge rather than mere intellectual understanding. This highlights the strength and resilience that comes from a genuine connection with God. Historically, this could refer to the Maccabees and other faithful Jews who resisted Hellenistic influences. It serves as an inspiration for believers to cultivate a strong, personal faith.
will firmly resist him
The word "resist" in Hebrew is "chazaq," meaning to be strong, courageous, or to hold fast. This implies an active and determined opposition against the corrupting influences of the time. Historically, this resistance was seen in the Maccabean Revolt, where faithful Jews stood against the oppressive regime. Spiritually, it encourages believers to stand firm in their convictions, drawing strength from their relationship with God to withstand trials and temptations.
Ellicott's Commentary for English Readers
(32) Such as do wickedly.--In these verses are traced the effects of the apostasy upon the people of God. The מ, the preformative of the participle hiphil, has been taken for the preposition מִן. written defectively, and probably בִּלְ לֺאם קָשֵׁה for בַּחֲלַקֹת. Theodotion does not require special notice, as his version here agrees closely with the Massoretic. The Peshitta is somewhat shorter and having a different significance, "And those who transgress against the covenant he shall condemn them. And the people who know the fear shall be strong." The Vulgate rendering is, "And the impious against the covenant shall feign falsely (simulabunt fraudu-lenter), but the people knowing their God shall possess and do (exploits)." Men like Alcimus, the high priest after Menelaus, were transgressors of the sacred covenant, and were corrupted by the flatteries of Epiphanes. He used them to gain the people over to his views. But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. Even when Epiphanes seemed most nearly successful, there was a deep-seated opposition to this Hellenizing process. Especially prominent were those who were zealous for the Law, the Hasidim, or, to give them the name they have in the Book of Maccabees, the Assidseans. These religionists, headed by Mattathias and his sons, especially by the heroic Judas Maccabaeus, certainly knew their God, and as certainly did exploits.

Parallel Commentaries ...

Hebrew
With flattery
בַּחֲלַקּ֑וֹת (ba·ḥă·laq·qō·wṯ)
Preposition-b, Article | Adjective - feminine plural
Strong's 2514: Smoothness, flattery

he will corrupt
יַחֲנִ֖יף (ya·ḥă·nîp̄)
Verb - Hifil - Imperfect - third person masculine singular
Strong's 2610: To be polluted or profane

those who violate
וּמַרְשִׁיעֵ֣י (ū·mar·šî·‘ê)
Conjunctive waw | Verb - Hifil - Participle - masculine plural construct
Strong's 7561: To be, wrong, to disturb, violate

the covenant,
בְרִ֔ית (ḇə·rîṯ)
Noun - feminine singular
Strong's 1285: A covenant

but the people
וְעַ֛ם (wə·‘am)
Conjunctive waw | Noun - masculine singular construct
Strong's 5971: A people, a tribe, troops, attendants, a flock

who know
יֹדְעֵ֥י (yō·ḏə·‘ê)
Verb - Qal - Participle - masculine plural construct
Strong's 3045: To know

their God
אֱלֹהָ֖יו (’ĕ·lō·hāw)
Noun - masculine plural construct | third person masculine singular
Strong's 430: gods -- the supreme God, magistrates, a superlative

will firmly
יַחֲזִ֥קוּ (ya·ḥă·zi·qū)
Verb - Hifil - Imperfect - third person masculine plural
Strong's 2388: To fasten upon, to seize, be strong, obstinate, to bind, restrain, conquer

resist [him].
וְעָשֽׂוּ׃ (wə·‘ā·śū)
Conjunctive waw | Verb - Qal - Conjunctive perfect - third person common plural
Strong's 6213: To do, make

Links
Daniel 11:32 NIV
Daniel 11:32 NLT
Daniel 11:32 ESV
Daniel 11:32 NASB
Daniel 11:32 KJV

Daniel 11:32 BibleApps.com
Daniel 11:32 Biblia Paralela
Daniel 11:32 Chinese Bible
Daniel 11:32 French Bible
Daniel 11:32 Catholic Bible

OT Prophets: Daniel 11:32 Such as do wickedly against the covenant (Dan.
