You can read more about Postcrossing's history <a href="/about/history">here</a>.</dd> <dt>How does Postcrossing work?</dt> <dd>In short: <ol> <li>Request an address from the website.</li> <li>Mail the postcard to the address.</li> <li>Wait to receive a postcard from another random member.</li> <li>Register the received postcard in the system.</li> </ol> <p> The first step is to request to send a postcard. The website selects and displays the address of another (random) member and a Postcard ID (e.g, US-8341) that uniquely identifies that postcard in the system. The sender then mails the postcard to that member. When the other member receives the postcard, they will register on the website using the Postcard ID that is on the postcard. At this point, the sender will become eligible to receive a postcard from another random member. Since postcards and stamps are available nearly everywhere around the world, Postcrossing can be enjoyed by anyone, from children learning English or geography in their school to their grandmas - and everyone in between. The largest age group of our members is 20-29 years old.</dd> <dt>How many postcards have been sent through Postcrossing?</dt> <dd>To date, a total of <strong>79,426,256 postcards</strong> have been exchanged.
