기자 = 드라마 '오징어 게임' 시즌 2가 전작에 이어 세계적인 인기를 끌면서 이번에도 드라마 속 게임들이 외국인들의 높은 관심을 받고 있다. 우선 전작에도 나온 바 있는 '무궁화꽃이 피었습니다'가 드라마 초반부를 장식했고, 드라마 중반엔 '5인 6각' 경기로 딱지치기, 비석 치기, 공기놀이, 팽이치기, 제기차기 등 게임 5개가 한꺼번에 소개됐고, 후반부엔 짝짓기 게임까지 등장했다. 3년 전 전작의 '무궁화꽃이 피었습니다'와 딱지치기, 달고나 등이 전 세계적으로 화제를 모았던 것처럼 이번에는 공기놀이가 큰 반향을 일으키고 있다. 실제로 공기놀이의 영어 표기인 'Gonggi'가 인기 검색어에 올랐고, 소셜미디어에선 공기놀이 챌린지가 유행하고 있다. 그런데 과연 드라마 속 게임들이 정말로 우리의 전통 놀이일까. 백과사전 등 관련 자료를 바탕으로 이를 검증해봤다. ◇ 공기놀이, 조선시대 문헌에 등장…지방마다 이름 달라 국립민속박물관이 발간한 '한국민속예술사전', 한국학중앙연구원의 '한국민족문화대백과사전' 등에 따르면 공기는 조선시대 화가 윤덕희의 '공기놀이' 그림이나 헌종 때 실학자 이규경의 '오주연문장전산고'에 등장할 만큼 그 유래가 오래됐다.
