השואה הינם תיעוד נדיר של היכולת האנושית לעמוד בעיניים פתוחות ובלב רגיש וחומל אל מול מצבי החיים הקשים ביותר מבלי לפול לשנאה, כעס או קורבנות. אתי לא נשארה בחיים, על אף שיכלה להציל את עצמה. במותה השאירה class="wp-block-heading">חנה סנש – 1921-194</h2> <div class="wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile"><div class="wp-block-media-text__content"> <p>"ברוך השם ובעד הזכות לחיות, ובוא תבוא שעה למות, על אדמתך, ארצי, מולדתי" – במותה ההרואי טרגי בידי הנאצים הפכה חנה סנש למופת של גבורה עבור החברה הציונית. מילות שיריה שהפכו מפורסמים כמו "אלי אלי" נותנים ביטוי לכמיהה רוחנית שאינה דתית אך גם אינה בדיוק חילונית, אולי כמו הציונות עצמה. יומניה שהתפרסמו לאחר מותה חושפים את הקשר המורכב בין שני הצדדים הללו – בין הזיקה אל הטוב העליון והנכונות לסכן את עצמך למענו. עד היום שואה, שלא לגמרי שתקו, אבל גם לא באמת דיברו. הוריי הילכו בזהירות בין שברי הזכרונות, בלי להרפות מהם או להתכחש אליהם, בלי לנטוש או להתנער משפות האם שלהם, מן המבטא שליווה את העברית שבפיהם או מן המנהגים האירופאים שלהם. אך בה בעת הם התאמצו לדבוק בנורמאליות, להיות אסירי תודה על מזלם ששפר עליהם להקים בית במדינת ישראל העצמאית, להוליד ילדים ונכדים ולהביט קדימה, לקיים את מה שנאמר "ובחרת בחיים". משום כך, הסיפורים שלא שמעתי מפי הורַי רבים כנראה בהרבה מאלה ששמעתי. אבל היה דווקא דבר אחר ששמעתי בבית שוב ושוב: שם. שמו של סבי, אבי אמי.השם הזה מעולם לא הופיע בביתנו בתוספת סיפורי זוועה או הרצאות היסטוריות על גורל העם היהודי. נסיבות מותו וגם התאריך המדויק 31 בדצמבר 1944, היו אמנם ידועים לנו, אך לא היו עיקרו של הסיפור. השם הזה התגלגל על הלשון בטבעיות, בדיוק באותם הקשרים שבהם אני מספרת לילדיי היום זכרונות מילדותי, במבט משועשע מהתחלפות הזמנים, ובחיוך של געגוע למי שקראנו לו כולנו, אבי ואמי, אחי הקרוי על שמו, וגם אני:"סבא אליעזר". פשוט ככה.
