vom Pech verfolgt. Da die Glaserei seines Vaters Andreas (<span>Sebastian Bezzel</span>) dicht macht, müssen sie und seine Mutter Sandra (<strong>Anna Maria Mühe</strong>) in eine kleinere Wohnung ziehen. Doch dort sind Hunde nicht erlaubt. Vor allem keine so großen Hunde wie Lassie. Also was tun? Andreas schlägt vor, die Hündin erst einmal zu seinem Chef Graf von Sprengel (<strong>Matthias Habich</strong>) zu bringen, der sich mit seiner Enkelin Priscilla (<strong>Bella Beding</strong>)um sie kümmern soll. Schweren Herzens nur lässt der 12-Jährige seine treue Freundin gehen, in der Hoffnung, sie bald wiederzusehen. Aber es kommt anders, als Lassie bei einem Trip an die Nordsee ausreißt und niemand weiß, wo sie abgeblieben ist …</p><p>Aus wenig mach viel: Ursprünglich war Lassie nur die Heldin einer Kurzgeschichte aus dem Jahr 1938, welche Autor <strong>Eric Knight</strong> zwei Jahre später zu einem Roman ausarbeitete. Während sich heute aber kaum einer an das Original <em>Lassie Come-Home</em> erinnern dürfte, wurde die Figur selbst zu einem absoluten Dauerbrenner. Rund 20 Filme entstanden in den Jahrzehnten seither, dazu diverse Serien und weitere Bücher, mit denen Knight aber nichts mehr zu tun hatte. Auch die Geschichte änderte sich natürlich, gleich blieb aber immer, dass im Mittelpunkt eine Langhaarcollie-Hündin stand, die ebenso mutig wie schlau ist, ihrem jeweiligen Herrchen zudem treu ergeben.</p><h2 id="toc-0">Altbekanntes, etwas anders</h2><p>Nun also der neueste Versuch, mit dem Tier Kinderaugen zum Strahlen zu bringen und dabei die Geldbeutel der Eltern zu leeren. <em>Lassie – Eine abenteuerliche Reise</em>orientiert sich dabei sogar grob an der inzwischen achtzig Jahre alten Geschichte. Erneut gerät eine einfache Familie in Geldnot, erneut muss daraufhin die Hündin abgegeben werden, die jedoch ausbüxt und sich auf eine wenig lange Reise zurück zu ihrem Jungen macht, dem sie wie keinem treu ergeben ist. Eine direkte Umsetzung ist die deutsche Produktion dabei nicht. So wird Lassie dieses Mal beispielsweise nicht verkauft – sowas wäre heute wohl nicht mehr vermittelbar gewesen –, sondern stattdessen erst einmal „nur“ weggegeben. Was aber aufs selbe hinausläuft.</p><p>Drehbuchautorin <strong>Jane Ainscough</strong>, die zuletzt mit <em><span>Ich bin dann mal weg</span></em> und <em><span>Gut gegen Nordwind</span> </em>schon zwei andere Romane für die große Leinwand adaptiert hat, dichtete drumherum jedoch noch zahlreiche weitere Handlungsstränge. So nimmt beispielsweise eine tragische Vorgeschichte bei der nun sehr netten Familie von Sprengel eine größere Rolle ein. Im Gegenzug brauchte es ein neues Feindbild, wofür der verlogene Hausmeister Hinz (<strong>Christoph Letkowski</strong>) herangezogen wird. Dass der nichts taugt, wird sofort klar, schließlich knurrt Lassie ihn an. Und wenn jemand weiß, wer gut oder schlecht ist, dann ist das Lassie. Denn Lassie weiß alles.</p><h2 id="toc-1">Viele Probleme schaffen Probleme</h2><p>Das ist dann gern mal etwas überzogen und vereinfacht, macht aber doch irgendwie Spaß. Auch <strong>Justus von Dohnányi</strong> hat als eigenwilliger Butler ein paar amüsante Auftritte. Das hat jedoch einen entscheidenden Nachteil: <em>Lassie – Eine abenteuerliche Reise</em> braucht so lange, um alle Themen und Figuren einzuführen, dass das im Titel angekündigte Abenteuer ziemlich kurz kommt. Es fängt nicht nur relativ spät an, sondern bekommt auch nicht die notwendige Laufzeit, damit ein wirkliches Gefühl für eine Reise entsteht. Vielmehr besteht der Film aus lauter Einzelepisoden in beliebiger Reihenfolge, bei der aber jedes Mal die wichtigen Personen anwesend sind, so als hätte Lassie irgendwo einen Peilsender versteckt oder als wäre Deutschland auf einmal auf Dorfgröße zusammengeschrumpft. Also muss das auf den letzten Metern geschehen, auf Teufel komm raus, das Happy End ist dermaßen schamlos erzwungen, dass man insgeheim darauf wartet, dass Lassie unterwegs auch noch eine brennende Schule voller querschnittsgelähmter Kinder mit eigenen Pfoten löscht. Aber schon vorher wurde konstruiert ohne Ende, egal ob es nun die Konflikte sind oder die Hilfsmittel. Da wäre mehr Zurückhaltung angebracht gewesen. Denn eigentlich ist der Film ja charmant, hat schöne Bilde und ein spielfreudiges Ensemble, selbst wenn Letzteres nicht ganz einheitlich ist bei der Überzeugungskraft.
