<t><p class="indent1">He conceives wicked plans <t><p class="indent1">To ruin the poor with lies, <t><p class="indent1">Even when the plea of the needy one is just <i>and</i> right. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>But the noble man conceives noble <i>and</i> magnificent things; <t><p class="indent1">And he stands by what is noble <i>and</i> magnificent. <poetry><p class="paragraph"><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Rise up, you women who are carefree, <t><p class="indent1">And hear my voice, <t><p class="indent1">You confident <i>and</i> unsuspecting daughters! <t><p class="indent1">Listen to what I am saying. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>In little more than a year <t><p class="indent1">You will tremble [with anxiety], you unsuspecting <i>and</i> complacent women; <t><p class="indent1">For the vintage has ended, <t><p class="indent1">And the harvest will not come. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Tremble, you women who are carefree; <t><p class="indent1">Tremble with fear, you complacent ones! <t><p class="indent1">Strip, undress and wear <i>sackcloth</i> on your waist [in grief], <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Beat your breasts [in mourning] for the beautiful fields, for the fruitful vine, <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>For the land of my people growing over with thorns and briars-- <t><p class="indent1">Yes, [mourn] for all the houses of joy in the joyous city. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>For the palace has been abandoned, the populated city deserted; <t><p class="indent1">The hill [of the city] and the watchtower have become caves [for wild animals] forever, <t><p class="indent1">A delight for wild donkeys, a pasture for flocks, <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Until the Spirit is poured out upon us from on high, <t><p class="indent1">And the wilderness becomes a fertile field, <t><p class="indent1">And the fertile field is valued as a forest. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Then justice will dwell in the wilderness, <t><p class="indent1">And righteousness will live in the fertile field. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And the effect of righteousness will be peace, <t><p class="indent1">And the result of righteousness will be quietness and confident trust forever. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>Then my people will live in a peaceful surrounding, <t><p class="indent1">And in secure dwellings and in undisturbed resting places. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>But it will hail, when the forest comes down, <t><p class="indent1">And the [capital] city will fall in utter humiliation. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/isaiah/32-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Blessed (happy, fortunate) are you who cast your seed upon all waters [<span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>when the river overflows its banks and irrigates the land], <t><p class="indent1">You who allow the ox and the donkey to roam freely.<A name="fn"></a></p><br /><br /><span class="footnotesbot">[a]</span> <span class="fnverse">1</span> The Messianic age is again in view (Is 9:7;
