<span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>for I have not dwelt<MH3427> in a house<MH1004> since<MH4480> the day<MH3117> that I brought<MH5927> up<MH5927> Israel<MH3478> to this<MH2088> day<MH3117>, but I have <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>gone<MH1961> from tent<MH168> to tent<MH168> and from <i>one</i> dwelling<MH4908> place<MH4908> <i>to another.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>In all<MH3605> places where<MH834> I have walked<MH1980> with all<MH3605> Israel<MH3478>, have I spoken<MH1696> a word<MH1697> with any<MH259> of the judges<MH8199> of Israel<MH3478>, whom<MH834> I commanded<MH6680> to shepherd<MH7462a> My people<MH5971a>, saying<MH559>, ‘Why<MH4100> have you not built<MH1129> Me a house<MH1004> of cedar<MH730>?’”’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Now<MH6258>, therefore, this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> you shall say<MH559> to My servant<MH5650> David<MH1732>: ‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> says<MH559>: “I took<MH3947> you from the pasture<MH5116a>, from following<MH310> the sheep<MH6629>, to be leader<MH5057> over<MH5921> My people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>I have been<MH1961> with you wherever<MH3605, 834> you have gone<MH1980>, and have eliminated<MH3772> all<MH3605> your enemies<MH340> from you; and I will make<MH6213a> for you a name<MH8034> like the name<MH8034> of the great<MH1419> ones<MH1419> who<MH834> are on the earth<MH776>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>And I will appoint<MH7760> a place<MH4725> for My people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478>, and will plant<MH5193> them <i>there,</i> so that they may live<MH7931> in<MH7931> their own place<MH8478> and not tremble<MH7264> <i>with anxiety</i> again<MH5750>; and the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>wicked<MH5767b, 1121> will not make<MH1086> them waste<MH1086> away<MH1086> anymore<MH3254> as <i>they did</i> previously<MH7223>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>even from the day<MH3117> that I commanded<MH6680> judges<MH8199> <i>to be</i> over<MH5921> My people<MH5971a> Israel<MH3478>. And I will subdue<MH3665> all<MH3605> your enemies<MH340>. <p class="paragraph"> Moreover, I tell<MH5046> you that the LORD<MH3068> will build<MH1129> a house<MH1004> for you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>When<MH3588> your days<MH3117> are fulfilled<MH4390> that you must <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>go<MH1980> <i>to be</i> with your fathers<MH1>, then I will set<MH6965> up<MH6965> <i>one of</i> your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>descendants<MH2233> after<MH310> you, who<MH834> will be from your sons<MH1121>; and I will establish<MH3559> his kingdom<MH4438>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>He shall build<MH1129> for Me a house<MH1004>, and I will establish<MH3559> his throne<MH3678> forever<MH5704, 5769>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>I will be his father<MH1> and he shall be My son<MH1121>; and I will not take<MH5493> My favor<MH2617a> away<MH5493> from him, as I took<MH5493> it from him who<MH834> was before<MH6440> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>But I will settle<MH3427> him in My house<MH1004> and in My kingdom<MH4438> forever<MH5704, 5769>, and his throne<MH3678> will be established<MH3559> forever<MH5704, 5769>.”’” <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>According to all<MH3605> these<MH428> words<MH1697> and according to all<MH3605> of this<MH2088> vision<MH2377>, so<MH3651> Nathan<MH5416> spoke<MH1696> to David<MH1732>. <p class="hdg">David’s Prayer in Response</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>Then King<MH4428> David<MH1732> came<MH935> in<MH935> and sat<MH3427> before<MH6440> the LORD<MH3068>, and said<MH559>, “Who<MH4310> am I, LORD<MH3068> God<MH430>, and what<MH4310> is my house<MH1004> that You have brought<MH935> me this<MH1988> far<MH1988>? <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>This<MH2088> was<MH6994> a<MH6994> small<MH6994> thing<MH6994> in Your eyes<MH5869>, God<MH430>; but You have spoken<MH1696> of Your servant’s<MH5650> house<MH1004> for a great<MH7350> while<MH7350> to<MH7350> come<MH7350>, and have viewed<MH7200> me according to the standard<MH8447> of a person<MH120> of high<MH4609b> degree<MH4609b>, LORD<MH3068> God<MH430>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_chronicles/17-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>What<MH4100> more<MH3254> can David<MH1732> still<MH5750> <i>say</i> to You concerning the honor<MH3519b> <i>bestowed</i> on Your servant<MH5650>?
