Here are a few that our student-veterans frequently seek out.</p> <h2>Veterans Resource Center</h2> <p>The Veterans Resource Center was established in 2012 to support the personal and academic success of our student veterans.  The Center serves as a central resource for information, support, guidance, and community. Among some of the services that are offered to our student veterans and dependents are:</p> <ul> <li>Introduction to veteran-specific services</li> <li>Computers and free printing</li> <li>Referrals to campus and off-campus programs and services</li> <li>Peer support, counseling and guidance</li> <li>Assistance with navigating policies and processes</li> <li>Connection with other veterans</li> <li>Advocacy and support with campus faculty, staff, and administrators</li> <li>Scholarship opportunities</li> <li>Career workshops and events</li> <li>Veteran recognition events</li> </ul> <p>Whether you are looking for assistance in staying on track to graduation or just want to stop by, we encourage you to visit the Veterans Resource Center at the Student Services Building (121) West, 1st floor, Office 1940 or call 909.869.6994.</p> <h2>Exploring a Major/Choosing a Career</h2> <p>Now that you have completed your military service, will you use what you have learned toward a vocation or will you chart a completely different career path?  Cal Poly Pomona’s<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a href="https://careercenter.cpp.edu/">Career Center<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></a>can help you choose a major and career path that best fits your interests and abilities.  Visiting with an advisor or department chair for the academic majors in which you are interested is also strongly recommended.</p> <p>Undergraduate transfers and graduates must declare a major prior to their first term of enrollment.  If you are a first-time freshman, you may choose to participate in the<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a href="https://www.cpp.edu/studentsuccess/bronco-advising-center/undeclared-advising.shtml">Undeclared Student Program<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></a>to receive assistance during your first year to choose a major that is right for you. </p> <p>The<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a href="http://www.cpp.edu/~advising/">Advising</a><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>website is another resource for all students who wish to explore the many major/minor combinations and graduate programs available at Cal Poly Pomona.</p> <h2>Living on Campus</h2> <p>Cal Poly Pomona and the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation offer a wide range of housing options through<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a href="http://www.cpp.edu/~housing/">University Housing Services</a><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>and the<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a href="http://foundation.cpp.edu/village/">University Village</a>; each offer rooms that are comfortable and well appointed.</p> <p>University Housing Services offers a wide range of meal plans and dining choices, while suites at the University Village include kitchens (UHS dining optional). Both University Housing Services and the University Village provide social programs, and the opportunity to interact with students holding common academic interests.</p> <h2>Places to Study</h2> <p><strong>Technical and Computer Support</strong></p> <p>The I&IT Help Desk, located in Bldg. 1, will assist you if you have questions about your on-campus network connection, e-mail service, or end user computing needs. For assistance, we recommend you check out our<span class="Apple-converted-space"><span> </span></span><a href="http://www.cpp.edu/~ehelp/">IT e-Help</a><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>online.</p> <p><strong>Child Care – Children’s Center</strong></p> <p><a href="http://asi.cpp.edu/services/childrens-center/">The Children's Center</a><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>at Cal Poly Pomona assists Cal Poly Pomona student-parents with high quality, convenient and affordable preschool services and enrichment programs for school-age children, in a safe clean and educational environment.</p> <h2>Health and Wellness</h2> <p><strong>War-Related Injuries</strong></p> <p>If you are recovering from training or war-related injuries, services are available to you through the<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a href="http://www.va.gov/health/">Veterans Health Administration</a>. Treatment for minor injuries and illness can be obtained at<a href="https://www.cpp.edu/~healthcounseling/index.shtml"><span class="Apple-converted-space"><span> </span></span></a><a href="https://www.cpp.edu/health/student-health-services.shtml"><span class="Apple-converted-space">Student Health & Wellness Services</span></a>.</p> <p>Cal Poly Pomona’s<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a href="https://www.cpp.edu/~drc/">Disability Resource Center</a><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>(DRC) advocates for equal access and opportunity for individuals with disabilities in all aspects of university life by enhancing personal, academic, and career development. The Disability Resource Center staff:</p> <ul> <li>Verify disabilities to prescribe specific accommodations for students</li> <li>Provide individualized academic accommodations that enable students to compete academically on an equal basis with their peers</li> <li>Provide academic accommodations and support services to students who have mobility, visual, or hearing impairments, chronic health conditions, and/or attention, cognitive, learning or psychological disorders</li> <li>Serve students with temporary disabilities (e.g., broken arm, sprained ankle)</li> </ul> <p>To access services, you will need to register with the Disability Resource Center. The Disability Resource Center in Building 9, Room 103.</p> <p><strong>Psychological or Emotional Trauma</strong></p> <p>The psychological effects of training and combat can (and often do) leave returning veterans with many unanswered questions. Here are a few of the many services and organizations available to you.</p> <p>Our<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span><a href="https://www.cpp.edu/health/student-health-services.shtml">Student Health & Wellness Services</a><span class="Apple-converted-space"><a href="https://www.cpp.edu/health/student-health-services.shtml"><span> </span></a>and<span> </span><a href="https://www.cpp.edu/~caps/index.shtml">Counseling & Psychological Services<span> </span></a></span>are on-campus resources for students seeking help with stress, depression, addiction, test anxiety, relationship problems and other life issues.  Counseling is available for individuals, couples and groups and referrals are available for long-term mental health care.  Counseling & Psychological Services accepts appointments and walk-ins and is located in Building 66, room 116.</p> <p><span class="ui-provider ef beq ber bes bet beu bev bew bex bey bez bfa bfb bfc bfd bfe bff bfg bfh bfi bfj bfk bfl bfm bfn bfo bfp bfq bfr bfs bft bfu bfv bfw bfx" dir="ltr">Crisis support is available for Cal Poly Pomona students 24/7 by calling 909-869-3220 and pressing option "2". When on-campus, students can access walk-in crisis support between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Building 66 Rm 116).  </span></p> <p><a href="http://www.vetcenter.va.gov/">Vet Centers</a><span class="Apple-converted-space"></span>, offered through the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, provide readjustment counseling and outreach services to all veterans who served in any combat zone. Services are also available for their family members for military related issues.
