Author of 94 books and 318 articles/chapters published in 9 languages in 34 countries, most of them on social security (healthcare, pensions, social assistance). His most recent books are Reassembling Social Security: A Survey of Pension and Healthcare Reforms in Latin America (Oxford, 2008, 2012); World Crisis Effects on Social Security in Latin America and the Caribbean (University of London ISA, 2010); Evaluation of Four Decades of Pension Privatization in Latin America, 1980-2020 (Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, 2021), and Comparing Two Socialist Economic Models: Cuban Central Plan and Sino-Vietnamese Socialist Market: Their Impact on Social Security (University of Pittsburgh Press, forthcoming 2025). He has worked as consultant in all Latin American countries and eight in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe. She is President Emerita of Murray Edwards College, University of Cambridge, having been in post from July 2013 to August 2021. In March 2015, she was appointed Chair of the Independent Panel of Experts to assess WHO’s response in the Ebola outbreak. The report was published in July 2015. Through her research, she concentrates on identifying the barriers faced by young people, the impact of stigma, and promotes the need for evidence-based practices, comprehensive support systems, and a holistic approach to learning within the education systems. Dr. Duraku has received the University of Prishtina Award for Outstanding Research Achievements twice, in 2021 and 2024, recognizing her work in promoting scientific research and its impact on the international stage. She is currently the Director and Owner of Enabled Future Limited (EFL). Prior to setting up EFL, Michelle worked with IHSMarkit, Nexant and Johnson Matthey. She is a regular speaker at conferences and contributor to industry magazines. Her publications to date have included features in IHS Chemical Bulletin, IHS Quarterly, The Catalyst Review, Recycling & Waste World and The Catalyst Group Intelligence Report. She lives and runs her consultancy in West Midlands, UK.
