Limited knowledge of the risk management techniques could result in not meeting the overall objectives of the project. The study was aimed at assessing the impediments to risk assessment techniques in Public-Private Partnership (PPP). Data for the study were gathered through the self-administration of 306 well-structured questionnaires using the simple random sampling technique to the construction professionals and private construction developers who had experience in the execution of PPP projects. Quantitative risk assessment techniques such as sensitivity analysis, scenario analysis and probability analysis percentage level of awareness were 40.1, 29.1 and 23.8 respectively, while the percentage extent of usage were 39.9, 34.0 and 37.2 respectively. In a related development, the qualitative risk assessment techniques such as probability impact table, priority table and iso-risk curves percentage level of awareness were 44.3, 38.6 and 27.5 respectively while the percentage extent of usage were 27.0, 32.8 and 26.6 respectively. Updating the knowledge base of the people responsible for the use of these risk assessment techniques by attending training and workshops in the relevant area will improve the level of awareness and the extent of usage. However, one of the most difficult activities in project management is determining what those risks are, and how they should be prioritised. This study examined risk identification and estimation in PPP housing projects in Abuja, Nigeria. Data was obtained through questionnaire survey and the information was analysed using mean rating and charts. The study suggests that both private and public parties should be responsible for identifying risks; personal and corporate experience, brainstorming and experts' interviews were the techniques frequently used in risk identification; risk analysis is mainly done by in house staff who lack the basic knowledge of risk management; and the techniques frequently used in risk analysis were return on investment, probability analysis and internal rate of return. The biggest challenge is to reduce the risks involved. Risk assessments include identifying risks, analyzing risk and controlling risk qualitatively by various methods. In this study, the Questionnaire checklist method is used to identifying the risk in the construction work, at the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Nigeria. Based on this, risk assessment is made to control the risk. There are various factors which affects the occurrence of these risks. All these risk occur during the project life cycle will results in financial loss and even in the stoppage of a particular project. Hence in order to prevent this, proper risk assessment is very important. The purpose of this research is to evaluate various risks factors that could hinder the implementation of projects and the determining the influence of risk avoidance, according to the perception of the employees of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. For that, a questionnaire of five point scale was prepared. The study adopted a descriptive survey design and collected data through questionnaires from 212 employees of the Federal Ministry works and Housing through stratified random sampling. Risk management is an important part of construction management; various techniques have been developed for use in the management of risks in construction. However, these techniques are limited to addressing risks relating to only cost, schedule or technical performance individual or at best a combination of cost and schedule risks and yet a risk-based decision support tools are not available to adequately address risks relating to cost, schedule and quality together in a coherent framework. This study aimed at assessing the awareness and usefulness of APRAM, as it is a newly developed model/technique for managing construction project; risks relating to time, budget and quality simultaneously, as to enhance better management of construction projects. A quantitative approach was adopted for this study, and further strengthened with a well-structured questionnaire to construction firms in Abuja and Kaduna. The research employed descriptive statistics, tables, pie charts, mean score ranking and percentages in the presentation, analysis and discussion of results. Findings confirmed that there is a significant increase in the level of understanding of risk management. Also, some of the identified risk analysis techniques are very much known and aware of than others, with no awareness of APRAM in the Nigerian Construction Industry. It was recommended that there should be an increment of awareness of risk management knowledge as it will further help in the implementation of risk management practices. Also, there should be an awareness creation of risk analysis techniques as it is a means of managing construction risks effectively and efficiently. This study employed the quantitative research method, using questionnaire as a data collection instrument. A population of 648 staff spread across five construction companies selected through purposive sampling was considered. A sample size of 199 was arrived at using Yamane's (1967) sampling size technique. 100 questionnaires were administered, of which 86 were retrieved, translating to an 86% response rate. The data collected was analysed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). The findings of the study revealed that market risks have a significant impact on the successful delivery of construction projects in Nigeria. It revealed that there is a positive relationship between market risks and the successful delivery of construction projects in Nigeria. However, the findings showed that technical risks have no significant impact on the successful delivery of construction projects in Nigeria. The result showed that there is a negative relationship between technical risks and the successful delivery of construction projects in Nigeria. Unfortunately, the sector's contribution to the economy is hindered by numerous risk surrounding a construction project. Despite the harmful effect of construction risk, it cannot be eliminated but it can only be managed. Therefore, this study aimed at evaluating the practice adopted for managing construction risk within Nigeria construction industry. The quantitative research approach was adopted, and a descriptive study was selected because it gives an accurate account of the characteristics, for example, the behaviour, opinions, abilities, beliefs and knowledge of a situation or group. The questionnaire was sent out to 200 respondents out of which a total of 150 questionnaires were valid. All the valid questionnaires were analysed using SPSS v23 adopting the exploratory factor analysis method. The findings showed that just like developed countries the Nigeria construction industry adopt the best practice of risk management in construction projects. These practices include risk identification, assessment, response and control. The exploratory factor analysis revealed that under risk identification the practice adopted by the construction professionals is dived into information sourcing and history of the project. Concerning risk assessment, the practice comprises of event analysis and creating a picture of the project. The method adopted for risk response includes generating a risk reduction methodology, establishing risk management back up plan and shifting the risk to a third party. Whereas for risk control the practice consists of enhancing construction project quality and improving the program plan of the construction project.
