Außerdem ist er genau wie der Rest der europäischen Fußballfamilie voller Vorfreude auf die Endrunde im kommenden Sommer.</p> <p>Bei seiner Rede während des offiziellen Dinners, das der Auslosung der Endrunde am Freitag in der ukrainischen Hauptstadt Kyiw voranging, sprach Herr Platini von den Qualitäten, die der europäische Fußball aufweist - und gratulierte dem Fußballverband der Ukraine (FFU) zu seinem 20. Geburtstag in diesem Jahr.</p> <p>"Ich bin überzeugt, dass die EURO 2012 ein spektakuläres und ganz offenes Turnier werden wird", sagte der UEFA-Präsident. "Sowohl Polen als auch die Ukraine haben außergewöhnliche Anstrengungen unternommen, um rechzeitig zum Anstoß bereit zu sein. Sie verdienen unsere Glückwünsche."</p> <p>"Es ist für mich eine große Freude, die 53 Nationalverbände hier zu begrüßen, die an der Qualifikation für die Endrunde teilgenommen haben", fügte er hinzu. "Neue Sterne erscheinen am europäischen Fußballhimmel. Im europäischen Nationalmannschaftsfußball existiert ein ausgeglichener Wettkampf und das ist positiv für das gesamte Spiel."</p> <p>Herr Platini nahm auch Bezug auf die Begeisterung vor der Auslosung im Kunstpalast. "Ich kann schon auf Ihren Gesichtern sehen, dass die Anspannung langsam steigt", sagte er. "Die verschiedenen Töpfe sind gut ausbalanciert, überall lauert die Gefahr. Alle Topmannschaften, die Turnierfavoriten sind da. Das ist ein seltenes Ereignis für eine Endrunde. Normalerweise scheitern ein paar so genannte Schwergewichte schon in der Qualifikation."</p> <p>Über den FFU, der 1991 gegründet wurde und 1992 der UEFA beitrat, fügte der UEFA-Präsident hinzu: "Zwanzig Jahre alt - oder sollte ich sagen: 20 Jahre jung! Und trotzdem hat die Ukraine am Himmel des Weltfußballs schon starke Spuren hinterlassen."</p> <p>Herr Platini erinnerte daran, dass die Ukraine nicht nur Co-Gastgeber der UEFA EURO 2012 sein wird, sondern auch das Viertelfinale bei der FIFA-WM 2006 erreichte. "Die Ukraine hat bereits ein Vermächtnis erreicht, von dem andere Verbände nur träumen dürfen", sagte er. "[FFU-Präsident und Mitglied des UEFA-Exekutivkomitees] Grigoriy Surkis hat viel für den Fußball dieses Landes erreicht und der Erfolg des Fußballverbands hat den Weg dafür geebnet, das Ansehen der Ukraine in der ganzen Welt zu verbessern."</p> <p>Herr Platini erinnerte daran, wie die Ukraine in den 1970ern und 1980ern erstmals in die Fußballschlagzeilen geriet, als es herausragende Leistungen von Valeriy Lobanovskiys FC Dynamo Kyiv gab, der 1986 sogar den Pokal der Pokalsieger gewann.</p> <p>"Heute sind der [FC] Shakhtar Donetsk, der [FC Dnipro] Dnipropetrovsk und der [FC] Metalist Kharkiv ein Begriff für Fußballfans in ganz Europa.
