It will not only help the students to improve their knowledge of the phenomena but will also enlighten the target teachers about the significance of authentic collocational use and how it naturalizes both written and spoken expressions. Data from both the students and teachers have been collected with the help of open/close-ended questionnaires to unearth the genuine cause/s and supplement them with the required solutions rooted in the actual problems. The students fail to use authentic collocations owing to multiple reasons: lack of awareness about English collocational use, improper teaching methodologies, and inexpert teachers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=English%20collocational%20use" title="English collocational use">English collocational use</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=teaching%20methodologies" title=" teaching methodologies"> teaching methodologies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=English%20learning%20barriers" title=" English learning barriers"> English learning barriers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vocabulary%20acquisition" title=" vocabulary acquisition"> vocabulary acquisition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=college%20students%20of%20Rawalpindi" title=" college students of Rawalpindi"> college students of Rawalpindi</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156864/an-evaluation-of-english-collocation-usage-barriers-faced-by-college-students-of-rawalpindi" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156864.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">82</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5967</span> Uncovering the Relationship between EFL Students' Self-Concept and Their Willingness to Communicate in Language Classes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyedeh%20Khadijeh%20Amirian">Seyedeh Khadijeh Amirian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seyed%20Mohammad%20Reza%20Amirian"> Seyed Mohammad Reza Amirian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Narges%20Hekmati"> Narges Hekmati</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The current study aims at examining the relationship between English as a foreign language (EFL) students' self-concept and their willingness to communicate (WTC) in EFL classes. To this effect, two questionnaires, namely 'Willingness to Communicate' (MacIntyre et al., 2001) and 'Self-Concept Scale' (Liu and Wang, 2005), were distributed among 174 (45 males and 129 females) Iranian EFL university students. Correlation and regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationship between the two variables. The results indicated that there was a significantly positive correlation between EFL students' self-concept and their WTC in EFL classes (p < .0.05). Moreover, regression analyses indicated that self-concept has a significantly positive influence on students’ WTC in language classes (B= .302, p < .0.05) and explains .302 percent of the variance in the dependent variable (WTC). The results are discussed with regards to the individual differences in educational contexts, and implications are offered. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EFL%20students" title="EFL students">EFL students</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=language%20classes" title=" language classes"> language classes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=willingness%20to%20communicate" title=" willingness to communicate"> willingness to communicate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-concept" title=" self-concept"> self-concept</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129646/uncovering-the-relationship-between-efl-students-self-concept-and-their-willingness-to-communicate-in-language-classes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129646.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">126</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5966</span> Thai Prosody Problems with First-Year Students</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jiraporn%20Adchariyaprasit">Jiraporn Adchariyaprasit</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Thai language is difficult in all four language skills, especially reading. Universities’ use of information and communication technologies has grown tremendously over the last decade. To ensure efficient use of the e-learning system, this project aimed to evaluate the good and bad practices, detect errors and determine areas for further improvements in usage. This project critically evaluated the students’ perception of the e-learning system and recommended changes to improve students’ e-learning usage, through conducting questionnaire given to the students that have experience with e-learning systems. Results of the study indicated that, in general, students have favourable perceptions toward using the e-learning system. They seemed to value the resources tool and its contribution to building their knowledge more than other e-learning tools. However, they seemed to perceive a limited value from the audio or video podcasts. This study has shown that technology acceptance is the most variable, factor that contributes to students’ perception and satisfaction of the e-learning system. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=e-learning" title="e-learning">e-learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perception" title=" perception"> perception</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jordan" title=" Jordan"> Jordan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=universities" title=" universities"> universities</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15384/students-perception-of-e-learning-systems-at-hashemite-university" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15384.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">489</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5964</span> Autism Awareness Among School Students and the Violent Reaction of the Autist Toward Society in Egypt</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Naglaa%20Baskhroun%20Thabet%20Wasef">Naglaa Baskhroun Thabet Wasef</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Specific education services for students with Autism remains in its early developmental stages in Egypt. Assessment in higher education institutions is largely done in writing, which makes the mastery of academic writing essential. While such mastery can be, and often is, difficult for students who speak English as a first language, it is undoubtedly more so for L2 students attempting to adopt Anglophone academic written norms. There does not appear to be a great deal of research with regard to L2 students’ perceptions of their academic writing practices. This research investigates the writing practices of international L2 students in their first year of undergraduate study at NZ universities. Qualitative longitudinal data in the form of semi-structured interviews and documentation (assignments’ written instructions, students’ written assignments, tutors’ feedback on the students’ assignments) were collected from 4 undergraduate international L2 students at the beginning, middle, and end of the academic year 2017. Findings reveal that motivation, agency, and self-efficacy impact students’ perceptions of their academic writing practices and define the course of actions learners take under the time constraints which are set for their assignments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=academic%20writing" title="academic writing">academic writing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=English%20as%20a%20second%20language" title=" English as a second language"> English as a second language</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=international%20second%20language%20students" title=" international second language students"> international second language students</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=undergraduate%20writing%20practices" title=" undergraduate writing practices"> undergraduate writing practices</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116195/factors-influencing-international-second-language-students-perceptions-of-academic-writing-practices" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116195.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">139</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5962</span> Integrating Indigenous Students’ Funds of Knowledge to Introduce Multiplication with a Picture Storybook</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Murni%20Sianturi">Murni Sianturi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andreas%20Au%20%20Hurit"> Andreas Au Hurit</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The low level of Indigenous Papuan students’ literacy and numeracy in Merauke Regency-Indonesia needs to be considered. The development of a learnable storybook with pictures related to their lives might raise their curiosity to read. This study aimed to design a storybook as a complementary resource for the third graders using Indigenous Malind cultural approaches by employing research and development methods. The product developed was a thematic-integrative picture storybook using funds of knowledge from Indigenous students. All the book contents depicted Indigenous students’ lives and were in line with the national curriculum syllabus, specifically representing one sub-theme−multiplication topic. Multiplication material of grade 3 was modified in the form of a story, and at the end of the reading, students were given several multiplication exercises. Based on the results of the evaluation from the expert team, it was found that the average score was in the excellent category. The students’ and teacher’s responses to the storybook were very positive. Students were thrilled when reading this book and also effortlessly understood the concept of multiplication. Therefore, this book might be used as a companion book to the main book and serve as introductory reading material for students prior to discussing multiplication material. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=a%20picture%20storybook" title="a picture storybook">a picture storybook</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=funds%20of%20knowledge" title=" funds of knowledge"> funds of knowledge</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Indigenous%20elementary%20students" title=" Indigenous elementary students"> Indigenous elementary students</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=literacy" title=" literacy"> literacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=numeracy" title=" numeracy"> numeracy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138000/integrating-indigenous-students-funds-of-knowledge-to-introduce-multiplication-with-a-picture-storybook" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138000.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">189</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5961</span> Evaluation of Introductory Programming Course for Non-Computer Science Majored Students</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Varol">H. The results show that, in this sample, higher education students regularly access news content believing traditional news sources to be more credible. Regarding online sources, it was verified that the access was mostly to free news contents. This study intends to promote the knowledge about the changes that occur in the relationship of higher education students with the media, characterizing how news consumption is processed by these students, considering the resulting effects of the digital media evolution. It is intended to present not only the news sources they use, but also to know some of their habits and relationship with the news media. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=students%27%20perceptions" title="students' perceptions">students' perceptions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=communication%20design" title=" communication design"> communication design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mass%20media" title=" mass media"> mass media</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=higher%20education" title=" higher education"> higher education</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20media" title=" digital media"> digital media</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91230/students-perceptions-of-communication-design-in-media-case-study-of-portuguese-and-spanish-communication-students" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91230.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">247</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5958</span> The Study of the Awareness of Sexual Risk Bahaviors and Sexual Risk Behaviors of Adolescents Students</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sumitta%20Sawangtook">Sumitta Sawangtook</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Parichart%20Thano"> Parichart Thano</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The purposes of research were to study the relationship between the awareness of sexual risk behaviors and sexual risk behaviors of adolescent students, and to compare the sexual risk behaviors of adolescent students by gender, education level, sweetheart’s number, achievement, sexual value, and the influence of the friendship group. Whether students experience learning disabilities, visual impairments, physical limitations, Autism Spectrum Disorders or any other issue that impacts their learning are able to attend universities that intentionally cater to their needs. While this selection of post-secondary education may be preferred by some students, other have sought a different experience. Over the last ten years, the number of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) attending traditional universities in the United States of America has increased significantly. Students with ASD tend to select smaller, private institutions that appear to offer more personal attention and services. This paper will examine how traditional American universities are preparing for this relatively new group of students in their college classrooms. This paper will provide a brief historical timeline of access to university instruction for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, and how and if students with ASD are received in colleges around the globe, and best research supported practices for success. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autism%20spectrum%20disorders" title="autism spectrum disorders">autism spectrum disorders</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=access%20to%20learning" title=" access to learning"> access to learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=university%20instruction" title=" university instruction"> university instruction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=accommodations" title=" accommodations"> accommodations</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84462/a-chronological-and-comparative-examination-of-traditional-american-post-secondary-institutions-of-higher-learning-delivery-of-instruction-for-college-students-with-autism-spectrum-disorders" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84462.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">174</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5956</span> The Challenges of Teaching First Year Accounting with a Lecturer-Student Ratio of 1:1248</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hanli%20Joubert">Hanli Joubert</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In South Africa, teaching large classes is a reality that lecturers face in most higher institutions. When teaching a large group, literature normally refers to groups of about 50 to 500 students. At the University of the Free State, the first-year accounting group comprises around 1300 students. Apart from extremely large classes, the problem is exacerbated by the diversity of students’ previous schooling in accounting as well as their socio-economic backgrounds. The university scenario is further complicated by a lack of venues, compressed timetables, as well as lack of resources. This study aims to investigate the challenges and effectiveness of teaching a large and diverse group of first-year accounting students by drawing from personal experience, a literature study, interviews with other lecturers as well as students registered for first year accounting. The results reveal that teaching first-year accounting students in a large group is not the ideal situation but that it can be effective if it is managed correctly. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diverse%20backgrounds" title="diverse backgrounds">diverse backgrounds</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=large%20groups" title=" large groups"> large groups</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=limited%20resources" title=" limited resources"> limited resources</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=first-year%20accounting%20students" title=" first-year accounting students"> first-year accounting students</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182742/the-challenges-of-teaching-first-year-accounting-with-a-lecturer-student-ratio-of-11248" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182742.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">54</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5955</span> The Autonomy Use of Preparatory School Students to Learn English Language</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mi%CC%87hri%CC%87ban%20M%C3%BCge%20Aras">Mi̇hri̇ban Müge Aras</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present study aims to investigate the learner autonomy usage of prep school students. This research focuses on the prep school students' autonomy habits according to their self-regulated studies, age and duration of learning English. The research also analyzes whether prep school students have strong autonomy to learn the English language or depend on teachers and English classes only. The participants of the study consisted of 32 prep school students. The "Likert- type of questionnaire " was adopted by the researcher from the survey of Dede (2017). The scale was a one-dimensional 4-Likert type, which has the options of 1=never, 2= sometimes, 3=often, and 4=always. There are 19 questions in the questionnaire to understand the autonomy of students when they try to learn English. Descriptive statistics and OneANOVA were used to analyze the data. The results of the study showed that there is no significant correlation between their ages and their duration of learning English according to their autonomy studies for English. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=learner%20autonomy" title="learner autonomy">learner autonomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-regulated%20learning" title=" self-regulated learning"> self-regulated learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=independent%20learning" title=" independent learning"> independent learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=English%20language%20learning" title=" English language learning"> English language learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prep%20school%20students" title=" prep school students"> prep school students</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167211/the-autonomy-use-of-preparatory-school-students-to-learn-english-language" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/167211.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">242</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5954</span> The Impact of Corporate Social Responsibility and Knowledge Management Factors on University's Students' Learning Process</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Naritphol%20Boonyakiat">Naritphol Boonyakiat</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research attempts to investigate the effects of corporate social responsibility and knowledge management factors on students’ learning process of the Silpakorn University. This study sought to examine the experiences of persistence for Indonesian first-generation college students in public universities utilizing social capital as a framework. It is a qualitative study with a phenomenological approach primarily to capture the essence of how Indonesian first-generation college students interpret, process, and experience their persistence during college years. Fifteen Indonesian young college graduates were involved as well as questionnaire and interview were employed for data collection in this study. It revealed certain themes from the experiences that first-generation college students attributed to their persistence: (a) family encouragement, (b) support from friends, (c) guidance from faculty and staff, (d) fund of knowledge they bring with them, (e) financial aid availability, and (f) self-motivation. By examining first-generation college students’ voices, Indonesian public universities can better support, engage, and retain this group of students who were historically struggled to persist in college and complete their degree. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=first-generation%20student" title="first-generation student">first-generation student</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Indonesian%20higher%20education" title=" Indonesian higher education"> Indonesian higher education</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=persistence" title=" persistence"> persistence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=public%20universities" title=" public universities"> public universities</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89470/first-generation-college-students-and-persistence-a-phenomenological-study-of-students-experiences-in-indonesian-higher-education" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89470.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">263</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5949</span> The Relationship between Body Esteem and Self-Esteem with Sport-Confidence Students</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saeid%20Motevalli">Saeid Motevalli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Fatimah%20Azzahrah%20Binti%20Abd%20Mutalib"> Siti Fatimah Azzahrah Binti Abd Mutalib</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohd%20Sahandri%20Ghani%20Hamzah"> Mohd Sahandri Ghani Hamzah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hazalizah%20Hamzah"> Hazalizah Hamzah</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between body esteem and self-esteem with sport-confidence among university students. This study was conducted by using the descriptive and correlational study design. Meanwhile, the method involved in this study was the online survey method. The population of the sample are mainly Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students only which 120 participants were selected by cluster sampling method from two faculties named Fakulti Pembangunan Manusia (FPM) and Fakulti Sains Sukan dan Kejurulatihan (FSSKJ). The instrument used in this study was The Body-Esteem Scale (BES) by Franzoi and Shields (1984), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) by Rosenberg (1965) and the Vealey’s Trait Sport-Confidence Inventory (TSCI) by (Vealey, 1986). The results of the Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient showed that there was a positive and moderate correlation between students’ body-esteem and sport-confidence and a negative and low correlation between students’ self-esteem and sport-confidence. Likewise, based on the entry method used all two predictor variables were significant in explaining sport confidence among UPSI students. In conclusion, it can be said that students’ sport-confidence affected by students’ self-esteem and body-esteem. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=body%20esteem" title="body esteem">body esteem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-esteem" title=" self-esteem"> self-esteem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sport-confidence" title=" sport-confidence"> sport-confidence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=students" title=" students"> students</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128183/the-relationship-between-body-esteem-and-self-esteem-with-sport-confidence-students" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/128183.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">149</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5948</span> Effects of Classroom Management Strategies on Students’ Well-Being at Secondary Level</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saba%20Latif">Saba Latif</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The study is about exploring the Impact of Classroom Management Techniques on students’ Well-being at the secondary level. Youngs doctors are expected to partake in CPR from the first day and if they are not taught basic life support (BLS) skills during their studies. They have next to no opportunity to learn them in clinical settings. To determine the exact level of knowledge of Basic Life Support among medical students. To compare the degree of knowledge among 1st and 2nd year medical students of RMU (Rawalpindi Medical University), using self-structured questionnaires. A cross sectional, qualitative primary study was conducted in March 2020 in order to analyse theoretical and practical knowledge of Basic Life Support among Medical Students of 1st and 2nd year MBBS. Self-Structured Questionnaires were distributed among 300 students, 150 from 1st year and 150 from 2nd year. Data was analysed using SPSS v 22. Chi Square test was employed. The results showed that only 13 (4%) students had received formal BLS training.129 (42%) students had encountered accidents in real life but had not known how to react. Majority responded that Basic Life Support should be made part of medical college curriculum (189 students), 194 participants (64%) had moderate knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of BLS. 75-80% students of both 1st and 2nd year had only moderate knowledge, which must be improved for them to be better healthcare providers in future. It was also found that male students had more practical knowledge than females, but both had almost the same proficiency in theoretical knowledge. The study concluded that the level of knowledge of BLS among the students was not up to the mark, and there is a dire need to include BLS training in the medical colleges’ curriculum. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=basic%20cardiac%20life%20support" title="basic cardiac life support">basic cardiac life support</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cardiac%20arrest" title=" cardiac arrest"> cardiac arrest</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=awareness" title=" awareness"> awareness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medical%20students" title=" medical students"> medical students</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148873/knowledge-attitude-and-practice-among-medical-students-regarding-basic-life-support" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148873.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">93</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5946</span> An Interrogation of Lecturer’s Skills in Assisting Visually Impaired Students during the COVID-19 Lockdown Era in Selected Universities in Zimbabwe</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Esther%20Mafunda">Esther Mafunda</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present study interrogated the lecturer’s skills in supporting visually impaired students during the Covid-19 era at the University of Zimbabwe. It particularly assesses how the Covid-19 pandemic affected the learning experience of visually impaired students and which skills the lecturers possessed in order to assist the visually impaired students during online learning. Data was collected from lecturers and visually impaired students at the University of Zimbabwe Disability Resource Centre. Data was collected through the use of interviews and questionnaires. Using content analysis, it was established that visually impaired students faced challenges of lack of familiarity with the Moodle learning platform, marginalization, lack of professional training, and lack of training for parents and guardians. Lecturers faced challenges of lack of training, the curriculum, access, and technical know-how deficit. It was established that lecturers had to resort to social media platforms in order to assist visually impaired students. Visually impaired students also received assistance from their friends and family members. On the basis of the results of the research, it can be concluded that lecturers needed in-service training to be provided with the necessary skills and knowledge to teach students with visual impairments and provide quality education to students with visual impairments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=visual%20impairment" title="visual impairment">visual impairment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=disability" title=" disability"> disability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=covid-19" title=" covid-19"> covid-19</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inclusive%20learning" title=" inclusive learning"> inclusive learning</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162785/an-interrogation-of-lecturers-skills-in-assisting-visually-impaired-students-during-the-covid-19-lockdown-era-in-selected-universities-in-zimbabwe" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162785.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">92</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5945</span> Students’ Views on Mathematics Learning: A Cross-Sectional Survey of Senior Secondary Schools Students in Katsina State of Nigeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fahad%20Suleiman">Fahad Suleiman</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The aim of this paper is to study students’ view on mathematics learning in Katsina State Senior Secondary Schools of Nigeria, such as their conceptions of mathematics, attitudes toward mathematics learning, etc. A questionnaire was administered to a random sample of 1,225 senior secondary two (SS II) students of Katsina State in Nigeria. By having students study and assess the watershed dynamics of a local stream, they will better understand how human activities affect this valuable resource. It is important that students gain tangible skills that will help them to have an understanding of water quality analysis and the importance of preserving our Earth's water systems. Having students participate in real world practices is the optimal learning environment and can offer students a genuine learning experience, by cultivating a knowledge of place, while promoting education for sustainability. Additionally, developing a watershed science course for high school students will give them a hands-on approach to studying science; which is both beneficial and more satisfying to students. When students conduct their own research, collect and analyze data, they will be intimately involved in addressing water quality issues and solving critical water quality problems. By providing students with activities that take place outside the confines of the indoor classroom, you give them the opportunity to gain an appreciation of the natural world. Placed-based learning provides students with problem-solving skills in everyday situations while enhancing skills of inquiry. An overview of a place-based watershed science course and its impact on student learning will be presented. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=education%20for%20sustainability" title="education for sustainability">education for sustainability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=place-based%20learning" title=" place-based learning"> place-based learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=watershed%20science" title=" watershed science"> watershed science</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20quality" title=" water quality"> water quality</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84182/education-for-sustainability-implementing-a-place-based-watershed-science-course-for-high-school-students" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/84182.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">154</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5941</span> Collaborative Learning Aspect for Training Hip and Knee Joint Anatomy</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nasir%20Mustafa">Nasir Mustafa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> One of the prerequisites required for an efficient diagnosis in a medical practice is to have a strong command of both functional and clinical anatomy. In this study, we introduce a new collaborative approach to the effective teaching of the knee and hip joints. In the present teaching model, anatomists, orthopedists and physical therapists present the anatomy of the hip and knee joints in small groups. Courses for the hip and knee joints were scheduled during the early stages of the medical curriculum. Students of nursing and physical therapy were grouped together to sensitize to the importance of a collaborative effort. The study results clearly demonstrate that nursing students and physical therapy students appreciated this teaching approach. The collaborative approach further proved to be a suitable method to teach both functional and clinical anatomy of the hip and knee joints. Aside from this training, a collaborative approach between medical students and physical therapy students was also successful for a healthcare organization. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hip%20and%20knee%20joint%20anatomy" title="hip and knee joint anatomy">hip and knee joint anatomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collaborative" title=" collaborative"> collaborative</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anatomy%20teaching" title=" Anatomy teaching"> Anatomy teaching</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nursing%20students" title=" Nursing students"> Nursing students</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Physiotherapy%20students" title=" Physiotherapy students"> Physiotherapy students</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166164/collaborative-learning-aspect-for-training-hip-and-knee-joint-anatomy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166164.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">93</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5940</span> An Explanatory Practice Example: The Reasons of Students Not Doing Any Extra Work</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C3%96zge%20%C3%96zsoy">Özge Özsoy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Teachers usually complain that their students do not study enough to further practice the subjects they have covered in class.
