But in experiments, it is the phase response of the spatial light modulator (SLM) which ultimately determines the efficiency, uniformity, and quality of the trap spots. In general, SLMs show a nonlinear phase response behavior, and they may even have asymmetric phase modulation depth before and after π. This affects the resolution with which the gray levels are addressed before and after π, leading to a degraded trap performance. We present a method to optimize the SLM for a linear phase response behavior along with a symmetric phase modulation depth around π. Further, we optimize the SLM for its varying phase response over different spatial regions by optimizing the brightness/contrast and gamma of the hologram in different subsections. We show the effect of the optimization on an array of trap spots resulting in improved efficiency and uniformity. We also calculate the spot sharpness metric and trap performance metric and show a tightly focused spot with reduced aberration. The trap performance is compared by calculating the trap stiffness of a trapped particle in a given trap spot before and after aberration correction. The trap stiffness is found to improve by 200% after the optimization. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20light%20modulator" title="spatial light modulator">spatial light modulator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20trapping" title=" optical trapping"> optical trapping</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aberration" title=" aberration"> aberration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phase%20modulation" title=" phase modulation"> phase modulation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/106122/optimization-of-spatial-light-modulator-to-generate-aberration-free-optical-traps" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/106122.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">187</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6121</span> 0.13-µm Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor Vector Modulator for Beamforming System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=J.%20S.%20Kim">J. Since its invention, quantum holography with undetected photon schemes has gained interest in the scientific community. This is mainly due to its ability to tailor the detected wavelengths according to the needs of the scheme implementation. Yet this wavelength flexibility grants the scheme a wide range of possible applications; an important matter was yet to be addressed. Since the scheme uses digital phase-shifting techniques to retrieve the information of the object out of the interference pattern, it is necessary to acquire a set of at least four images of the interference pattern along with well-defined phase steps to recover the full object information. Hence, the imaging method requires larger acquisition times to produce well-resolved images. As a consequence, the measurement of moving objects remains out of the reach of the imaging scheme. This work presents the use and implementation of a spatial light modulator along with a digital holographic technique called quasi-parallel phase-shifting. This technique uses the spatial light modulator to build a structured phase image consisting of a chessboard pattern containing the different phase steps for digitally calculating the object information. Depending on the reduction in the number of needed frames, the acquisition time reduces by a significant factor. This technique opens the door to the implementation of the scheme for moving objects. In particular, the application of this scheme in imaging alive specimens comes one step closer. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quasi-parallel%20phase%20shifting" title="quasi-parallel phase shifting">quasi-parallel phase shifting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20imaging" title=" quantum imaging"> quantum imaging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20holography" title=" quantum holography"> quantum holography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20metrology" title=" quantum metrology"> quantum metrology</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156520/enhanced-acquisition-time-of-a-quantum-holography-scheme-within-a-nonlinear-interferometer" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156520.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">114</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6118</span> Simulation and Modeling of High Voltage Pulse Transformer</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zahra%20Emami">Zahra Emami</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Reza%20Mesgarzade"> H. The parasitic elements of pulse transformers significantly influence the resulting pulse shape of a power modulator system. In order to prevent the effects on the pulse shape before constructing the transformer an electrical model is needed. The technique procedures for computing these elements are based on finite element analysis. The finite element model of pulse transformer is created using software "Ansys Maxwell 3D". Finally, the transformer parasitic elements is calculated and compared with the value obtained from the actual test and pulse modulator is simulated and results is compared with actual test of pulse modulator. An optical window consists of micrometer-order SiO2 capillaries (porous solid) that can modulate transmission light intensity by moving the liquid in and out of porous solid. A high optical transmittance of the optical window can be achieved due to refractive index matching when the liquid is penetrated into the porous solid. Otherwise, its light transmittance is lower because of light reflection and scattering by air holes and capillary walls. Silicon capillaries fabricated by deep reactive ion etching (DRIE) process are completely oxidized to form the SiO2 capillaries. Therefore, high aspect ratio SiO2 capillaries can be achieved based on silicon capillaries formed by DRIE technique. Large compressive stress of the oxide causes bending of the capillary structure, which is reduced by optimizing the design of device structure. The large stress of the optical window can be released via thin supporting beams. A 7.2 mm x 9.6 mm optical window area toward a fully integrated with the image sensor format is successfully fabricated and its optical transmittance is evaluated with and without inserting liquids (ethanol and matching oil). The achieved modulation range is approximately 20% to 35% with and without liquid penetration in visible region (wavelength range from 450 nm to 650 nm). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20oxidation%20process" title="thermal oxidation process">thermal oxidation process</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SiO2%20capillaries" title=" SiO2 capillaries"> SiO2 capillaries</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20window" title=" optical window"> optical window</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=light%20transmittance" title=" light transmittance"> light transmittance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=image%20sensor" title=" image sensor"> image sensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=liquid%20penetration" title=" liquid penetration"> liquid penetration</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23896/high-aspect-ratio-sio2-capillary-based-on-silicon-etching-and-thermal-oxidation-process-for-optical-modulator" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23896.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">491</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6116</span> Carrier Communication through Power Lines</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pavuluri%20Gopikrishna">Pavuluri Gopikrishna</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B.%20Neelima"> B. The main objective of this suggested work is to transmit our message signal after frequency modulation by the help of FM modulator IC LM565 which gives output proportional to the input voltage of the input message signal. And this audio power is received from the power line by the help of isolation circuit and demodulated from IC LM565 which uses the concept of the PLL and produces FM demodulated signal to the listener. Message signal will be transmitted over the carrier signal that will be generated from the FM modulator IC LM565. Using this message signal will not damage because of no direct contact of message signal from the power line, but noise can disturb our information. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=amplification" title="amplification">amplification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fm%20demodulator%20ic%20565" title=" fm demodulator ic 565"> fm demodulator ic 565</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fm%20modulator%20ic%20565" title=" fm modulator ic 565"> fm modulator ic 565</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phase%20locked%20loop" title=" phase locked loop"> phase locked loop</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20isolation" title=" power isolation"> power isolation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31017/carrier-communication-through-power-lines" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31017.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">552</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6115</span> The Excess Loop Delay Calibration in a Bandpass Continuous-Time Delta Sigma Modulators Based on Q-Enhanced LC Filter</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sorore%20Benabid">Sorore Benabid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Q-enhanced LC filters are the most used architecture in the Bandpass (BP) Continuous-Time (CT) Delta-Sigma (&Sigma;&Delta;) modulators, due to their: high frequencies operation, high linearity than the active filters and a high quality factor obtained by Q-enhanced technique. This technique consists of the use of a negative resistance that compensate the ohmic losses in the on-chip inductor. However, this technique introduces a zero in the filter transfer function which will affect the modulator performances in term of Dynamic Range (DR), stability and in-band noise (Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR)). In this paper, we study the effect of this zero and we demonstrate that a calibration of the excess loop delay (ELD) is required to ensure the best performances of the modulator. System level simulations are done for a 2ndorder BP CT (&Sigma;&Delta;) modulator at a center frequency of 300MHz. Simulation results indicate that the optimal ELD should be reduced by 13% to achieve the maximum SNR and DR compared to the ideal LC-based &Sigma;&Delta; modulator. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=continuous-time%20bandpass%20delta-sigma%20modulators" title="continuous-time bandpass delta-sigma modulators">continuous-time bandpass delta-sigma modulators</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=excess%20loop%20delay" title=" excess loop delay"> excess loop delay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=on-chip%20inductor" title=" on-chip inductor"> on-chip inductor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Q-enhanced%20LC%20filter" title=" Q-enhanced LC filter"> Q-enhanced LC filter</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81967/the-excess-loop-delay-calibration-in-a-bandpass-continuous-time-delta-sigma-modulators-based-on-q-enhanced-lc-filter" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81967.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">329</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6114</span> Dynamics of Mach Zehnder Modulator in Open and Closed Loop Bias Condition</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ramonika%20Sengupta">Ramonika Sengupta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Stuti%20Kachhwaha"> Stuti Kachhwaha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Asha%20Adhiya"> Asha Adhiya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20Satya%20Raja%20Sekhar"> K. This paper presents the dynamics of a lithium niobate MZM modulator under various biasing conditions. The chaotic fluctuations of the intensity of a laser diode have been generated using the electro-optic MZM modulator operating in a highly nonlinear regime. The modulator is driven in closed loop by its own output at an earlier time. When used as an electro-optic oscillator employing delayed feedback, the MZM displays a wide range of output waveforms of varying complexity. The dynamical behavior of the system ranges from periodic to nonlinear oscillations. The nonlinearity displayed by the system is reproducible and is easily controllable. In this paper, we demonstrate a wide variety of optical signals generated by MZM using easily controllable device parameters in both open and close loop bias conditions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chaotic%20carrier" title="chaotic carrier">chaotic carrier</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fiber%20optic%20communication" title=" fiber optic communication"> fiber optic communication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mach-Zehnder%20modulator" title=" Mach-Zehnder modulator"> Mach-Zehnder modulator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=secure%20data%20transmission" title=" secure data transmission"> secure data transmission</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95076/dynamics-of-mach-zehnder-modulator-in-open-and-closed-loop-bias-condition" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95076.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">272</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6113</span> Optical Vortex in Asymmetric Arcs of Rotating Intensity</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mona%20Mihailescu">Mona Mihailescu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rebeca%20Tudor"> Rebeca Tudor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Irina%20A.%20Paun"> Irina A. In optical communications, the information embedded in specific beams and the superposition of multiple beams can be used to increase the capacity of the communication channels, employing spatial modulation as an additional degree of freedom, besides already available polarization and wavelength multiplexing. In this regard, optical vortices present interest due to their potential to carry independent data which can be multiplexed at the transmitter and demultiplexed at the receiver. Also, in the literature were studied their combinations: 1) axial or perpendicular superposition of multiple optical vortices or 2) with other laser beam types: Bessel, Airy. Optical vortices, characterized by stationary ring-shape intensity and rotating phase, are achieved using computer generated holograms (CGH) obtained by simulating the interference between a tilted plane wave and a wave passing through a helical phase object. Here, we propose a method to combine information through the reunion of two CGHs. One is obtained using the helical phase distribution, characterized by its topological charge, m. The other is obtained using conical phase distribution, characterized by its radial factor, r0. Each CGH is obtained using plane wave with different tilts: km and kr for CGH generated from helical phase object and from conical phase object, respectively. These reunions of two CGHs are calculated to be phase optical elements, addressed on the liquid crystal display of a spatial light modulator, to optically process the incident beam for investigations of the diffracted intensity pattern in far field. For parallel reunion of two CGHs and high values of the ratio between km and kr, the bright ring from the first diffraction order, specific for optical vortices, is changed in an asymmetric intensity pattern: a number of circle arcs. Both diffraction orders (+1 and -1) are asymmetrical relative to each other. In different planes along the optical axis, it is observed that this asymmetric intensity pattern rotates around its centre: in the +1 diffraction order the rotation is anticlockwise and in the -1 diffraction order, the rotation is clockwise. The relation between m and r0 controls the diameter of the circle arcs and the ratio between km and kr controls the number of arcs. For perpendicular reunion of the two CGHs and low values of the ratio between km and kr, the optical vortices are multiplied and focalized in different planes, depending on the radial parameter. The first diffraction order contains information about both phase objects. It is incident on the phase masks placed at the receiver, computed using the opposite values for topological charge or for the radial parameter and displayed successively. In all, the proposed method is exploited in terms of constructive parameters, for the possibility offered by the combination of different types of beams which can be used in robust optical communications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetrical%20diffraction%20orders" title="asymmetrical diffraction orders">asymmetrical diffraction orders</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computer%20generated%20holograms" title=" computer generated holograms"> computer generated holograms</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conical%20phase%20distribution" title=" conical phase distribution"> conical phase distribution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20vortices" title=" optical vortices"> optical vortices</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20light%20modulator" title=" spatial light modulator"> spatial light modulator</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49415/optical-vortex-in-asymmetric-arcs-of-rotating-intensity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49415.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">310</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6112</span> Analysis of Osmotin as Transcription Factor/Cell Signaling Modulator Using Bioinformatic Tools</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Usha%20Kiran">Usha Kiran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Z.%20Abdin"> M. It provides plants protection from pathogens, hence placed in the PRP family of proteins. The osmotin induced proline accumulation has been reported in plants including transgenic tomato and strawberry conferring tolerance against both biotic and abiotic stresses. The exact mechanism of induction of proline by osmotin is however, not known till date. These observations have led us to hypothesize that osmotin induced proline accumulation could be due to its involvement as transcription factor and/or cell signal pathway modulator in proline biosynthesis. The present investigation was therefore, undertaken to analyze the osmotin protein as transcription factor /cell signalling modulator using bioinformatics tools. The results of available online DNA binding motif search programs revealed that osmotin does not contain DNA-binding motifs. The alignment results of osmotin protein with the protein sequence from DATF showed the homology in the range of 0-20%, suggesting that it might not contain a DNA binding motif. Further to find unique DNA-binding domain, the superimposition of osmotin 3D structure on modeled Arabidopsis transcription factors using Chimera also suggested absence of the same. We, however, found evidence implicating osmotin in cell signaling. With these results, we concluded that osmotin is not a transcription factor but regulating proline biosynthesis and accumulation through cell signaling during abiotic stresses. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=osmotin" title="osmotin">osmotin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cell%20signaling%20modulator" title=" cell signaling modulator"> cell signaling modulator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bioinformatic%20tools" title=" bioinformatic tools"> bioinformatic tools</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=protein" title=" protein "> protein </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8485/analysis-of-osmotin-as-transcription-factorcell-signaling-modulator-using-bioinformatic-tools" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8485.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">272</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6111</span> Bias Optimization of Mach-Zehnder Modulator Considering RF Gain on OFDM Radio-Over-Fiber System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ghazi%20Al%20Sukkar">Ghazi Al Sukkar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yazid%20Khattabi"> Yazid Khattabi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shifen%20Zhong"> Shifen Zhong </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Most of the recent wireless LANs, broadband access networks, and digital broadcasting use Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing techniques. In addition, the increasing demand of Data and Internet makes fiber optics an important technology, as fiber optics has many characteristics that make it the best solution for transferring huge frames of Data from a point to another. Radio over fiber is the place where high quality RF is converted to optical signals over single mode fiber. Optimum values for the bias level and the switching voltage for Mach-Zehnder modulator are important for the performance of radio over fiber links. In this paper, we propose a method to optimize the two parameters simultaneously; the bias and the switching voltage point of the external modulator of a radio over fiber system considering RF gain. The pulse forming network systems have since then been replaced with solid state modulators that have better efficiency, better stability, and lower cost of ownership, and they are much smaller. In this paper, it is shown that it is possible to replace a pulse forming network system with a solid-state system without changing the klystron tank and the klystron transformer. The solid-state modulator uses semiconductors switching at 1 kV level. A first pulse transformer transforms the voltage up to 10 kV. The 10 kV pulse is finally fed into the original transformer that is placed under the klystron. A flatness of 0.8 percent and stability of 100 PPM is achieved. The test is done with a CPI 8262 type of klystron. It is also shown that it is possible to run such a system with long cables between the transformers. When using this technique, it will be possible to keep original sub-systems like filament systems, vacuum systems, focusing solenoid systems, and cooling systems for the klystron. This will substantially reduce the cost of an upgrade and prolong the life of the klystron system. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modulator" title="modulator">modulator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solid-state" title=" solid-state"> solid-state</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PFN-system" title=" PFN-system"> PFN-system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thyratron" title=" thyratron"> thyratron</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158666/replacing-an-old-pfn-system-with-a-solid-state-modulator-without-changing-the-klystron-transformer" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158666.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">134</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6109</span> 0.13-μm CMOS Vector Modulator for Wireless Backhaul System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=J.%20S.%20Kim">J. Computer-generated holography (CGH) is a well-known technology for HOEs production. In some cases, a well-designed diffractive optical element with multifunctional components is also an important issue and needed for an advanced optoelectronic system. Spatial light modulator (SLM) is one of the key components that has great capability to display CGH pattern and is widely used in various applications, such as an image projection system. As mentioned to multifunctional components, such as phase and amplitude modulation of light, high-resolution hologram with multiple-exposure procedure is also one of the suitable candidates. However, holographic recording under multiple exposures, the diffraction efficiency of the final hologram is inevitably lower than that with single exposure process. In this study, a two-step holographic recording method, including the master hologram fabrication and the replicated hologram production, will be designed. Since there exist a reduction factor M² of diffraction efficiency in multiple-exposure holograms (M multiple exposures), so it seems that single exposure would be more efficient for holograms replication. In the second step of holographic replication, a stable optical system with one-shot copying is introduced. For commercial application, one may utilize this concept of holographic copying to obtain duplications of HOEs with higher optical performance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=holographic%20replication" title="holographic replication">holographic replication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=holography" title=" holography"> holography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=one-shot%20copying" title=" one-shot copying"> one-shot copying</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optical%20element" title=" optical element"> optical element</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98438/design-of-replication-system-for-computer-generated-hologram-in-optical-component-application" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/98438.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">156</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6105</span> The Effect of Spatial Variability on Axial Pile Design of Closed Ended Piles in Sand</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cormac%20Reale">Cormac Reale</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luke%20J.%20Prendergast"> Luke J. To address the morphological challenges faced by Lidukou Village, this study proposes optimization strategies that encompass diverse perspectives, including the refinement of spatial mechanisms and the shaping of strategic spatial nodes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=traditional%20villages" title="traditional villages">traditional villages</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20syntax" title=" spatial syntax"> spatial syntax</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20integration%20degree" title=" spatial integration degree"> spatial integration degree</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20problem" title=" morphological problem"> morphological problem</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186493/enhanced-analysis-of-spatial-morphological-cognitive-traits-in-lidukou-village-through-the-application-of-space-syntax" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186493.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">43</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6103</span> Spatial Econometric Approaches for Count Data: An Overview and New Directions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paula%20Sim%C3%B5es">Paula Simões</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Isabel%20Nat%C3%A1rio"> Isabel Natário</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper reviews a number of theoretical aspects for implementing an explicit spatial perspective in econometrics for modelling non-continuous data, in general, and count data, in particular. It provides an overview of the several spatial econometric approaches that are available to model data that are collected with reference to location in space, from the classical spatial econometrics approaches to the recent developments on spatial econometrics to model count data, in a Bayesian hierarchical setting. Considerable attention is paid to the inferential framework, necessary for structural consistent spatial econometric count models, incorporating spatial lag autocorrelation, to the corresponding estimation and testing procedures for different assumptions, to the constrains and implications embedded in the various specifications in the literature. This review combines insights from the classical spatial econometrics literature as well as from hierarchical modeling and analysis of spatial data, in order to look for new possible directions on the processing of count data, in a spatial hierarchical Bayesian econometric context. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20data%20analysis" title="spatial data analysis">spatial data analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20econometrics" title=" spatial econometrics"> spatial econometrics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bayesian%20hierarchical%20models" title=" Bayesian hierarchical models"> Bayesian hierarchical models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=count%20data" title=" count data"> count data</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35788/spatial-econometric-approaches-for-count-data-an-overview-and-new-directions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35788.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">593</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6102</span> Estimation of Missing Values in Aggregate Level Spatial Data</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amitha%20Puranik">Amitha Puranik</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=V.%20S.%20Binu"> V. Missing can either occur in covariate or in response variable or in both in a given location. Many missing data techniques are available to estimate the missing data values but not all of these methods can be applied on spatial data since the data are autocorrelated. Hence there is a need to develop a method that estimates the missing values in both response variable and covariates in spatial data by taking account of the spatial autocorrelation. The present study aims to develop a model to estimate the missing data points at the aggregate level in spatial data by accounting for (a) Spatial autocorrelation of the response variable (b) Spatial autocorrelation of covariates and (c) Correlation between covariates and the response variable. Estimating the missing values of spatial data requires a model that explicitly account for the spatial autocorrelation. The proposed model not only accounts for spatial autocorrelation but also utilizes the correlation that exists between covariates, within covariates and between a response variable and covariates. The precise estimation of the missing data points in spatial data will result in an increased precision of the estimated effects of independent variables on the response variable in spatial regression analysis. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20regression" title="spatial regression">spatial regression</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=missing%20data%20estimation" title=" missing data estimation"> missing data estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20autocorrelation" title=" spatial autocorrelation"> spatial autocorrelation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simulation%20analysis" title=" simulation analysis"> simulation analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58411/estimation-of-missing-values-in-aggregate-level-spatial-data" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/58411.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">382</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6101</span> Urban Spatial Experience Construction Strategies Under the Intervention of Online Media: A Case Study of Liziba Light Rail Station in Chongqing</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhongde%20Wang">Zhongde Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fanwei%20Meng"> Fanwei Meng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ling%20Yang"> Ling Yang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Today, social media deeply engages in urban spatial production in a ‘Disembedding’ form, allowing the public to ‘foresight’ physical spaces through online platforms and subsequently engage in corresponding ‘sight’ and visits, thus leading to the emergence of ‘Internet Celebrity Spots’. Complete compensation for the linear and nonlinear diffraction broadening of light beams is obtained upon uniform heating of an undoped sample from room temperature to 55 degrees Celsius. An analysis of the light-field distribution patterns and the corresponding intensity distribution profiles allowed us to estimate the spacing for the channel waveguides. The observed behavior of bright soliton beams may be caused by their coherent interaction, which manifests itself in repulsion for anti-phase light fields and in attraction for in-phase light fields. The experimental results of this study showed a fundamental possibility of forming optically complex waveguide structures in lithium niobate crystals with pyroelectric mechanism of nonlinear response. The topology of these structures is determined by the light field distribution on the input face of crystalline sample. The optical induction of channel waveguide elements by interacting spatial solitons makes it possible to design optical systems with a more complex topology and a possibility of their dynamic reconfiguration. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-action" title="self-action">self-action</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soliton" title=" soliton"> soliton</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lithium%20niobate" title=" lithium niobate"> lithium niobate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piroliton" title=" piroliton"> piroliton</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photorefractive%20effect" title=" photorefractive effect"> photorefractive effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pyroelectric%20effect" title=" pyroelectric effect"> pyroelectric effect</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89331/self-action-of-pyroelectric-spatial-soliton-in-undoped-lithium-niobate-samples-with-pyroelectric-mechanism-of-nonlinear-response" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89331.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">167</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6099</span> The Impact of Developing Tourism on the Spatial Pattern in Jordan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khries%20Sawsan">Khries Sawsan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> the phenomenon of urbanization is considered as one of the most important tourism resources that differ from one country to another and from one region to another in the same country. Our concern in tourism accommodation is explained by the fact that their location is directly related to the movement to tourist sites .Besides, these constructions comport security considered as the most important motivation for tourists in their choice of any destination. Hotels are the most representative expression of tourism. This is due to their physical prominence in the landscape and being the sole urban component totally unique to tourism. This study sheds light on the impact of tourism development on the spatial pattern in Jordan. It describes the linkages between existing tourism development policies and the spatial development patterns that have occurred as a result throughout Jordan, particularly looking at the impact that tourism has had on the physical environment of major tourism destinations. It puts an illustrative plan of the impact of the augmentation of tourism accommodations in Jordan in the past 40 years ago. The findings of this study help us to understand better the operation of Jordan’ dynamic changes in the location An intensive analysis is then applied on a representative case study in three regions: Amman, Petra and Aqaba. The key to cultivating students' spatial thinking ability is to cultivate students' ability to process and transform graphics. The 3D printing course enables students to constantly touch the rotation and movement of objects during the modeling process and to understand spatial graphics from different views. To this end, this article combines the classic PSVT: R test to explore the impact of 3D printing courses on the spatial thinking ability of middle school students. The results of the study found that: (1) Through the study of the 3D printing course, the students' spatial ability test scores have been significantly improved, which indirectly reflects the improvement of the spatial thinking ability level. This scheme is composed of three procedures: mapping from elemental images to point cloud, hologram generation, and hologram display. A mapping method is figured out to achieve a virtual volume date (point cloud) from a series of elemental images. This mapping method consists of two steps. Firstly, the coordinate (x, y) pairs and its appearing number are calculated from the series of sub-images, which are generated from the elemental images. Secondly, a series of corresponding coordinates (x, y, z) are calculated from the elemental images. Then a hologram is generated from the volume data that is calculated by the previous two steps. Eventually, a spatial light modulator (SLM) and a green laser beam are utilized to display this hologram and reconstruct the original 3D object. In this paper, in order to show a more auto stereoscopic display of a real 3D object, we successfully obtained the actual depth data of every discrete point of the real 3D object, and overcame the inherent drawbacks of the depth camera by obtaining point cloud from the elemental images. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elemental%20image" title="elemental image">elemental image</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=point%20cloud" title=" point cloud"> point cloud</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computer-generated%20hologram%20%28CGH%29" title=" computer-generated hologram (CGH)"> computer-generated hologram (CGH)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autostereoscopic%20display" title=" autostereoscopic display"> autostereoscopic display</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11827/a-novel-computer-generated-hologram-cgh-achieved-scheme-generated-from-point-cloud-by-using-a-lens-array" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11827.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">584</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6096</span> Spatial Scale of Clustering of Residential Burglary and Its Dependence on Temporal Scale</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammed%20A.%20Alazawi">Mohammed A. When analyzing these patterns and processes, a key issue has been to determine the proper spatial scale. In addition, it is important to consider the possibility that these patterns and processes might differ appreciably for different temporal scales and might vary across geographic units of analysis. We examine the spatial-temporal dependence of residential burglary. This dependence is tested at varying geographical scales and temporal aggregations. The analyses are based on recorded incidents of crime in Columbus, Ohio during the 1994-2002 period. We implement point pattern analysis on the crime points using Ripley’s K function. The results indicate that spatial point patterns of residential burglary reveal spatial scales of clustering relatively larger than the average size of census tracts of the study area. Also, spatial scale is independent of temporal scale. The results of our analyses concerning the geographic scale of spatial patterns and processes can inform the development of effective policies for crime control. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inhomogeneous%20K%20function" title="inhomogeneous K function">inhomogeneous K function</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=residential%20burglary" title=" residential burglary"> residential burglary</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20point%20pattern" title=" spatial point pattern"> spatial point pattern</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20scale" title=" spatial scale"> spatial scale</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temporal%20scale" title=" temporal scale"> temporal scale</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92371/spatial-scale-of-clustering-of-residential-burglary-and-its-dependence-on-temporal-scale" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92371.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">344</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6095</span> Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, and Potassium Bitartrate Non-Hormonal Prescription Vaginal PH Modulator Gel for the Prevention of Pregnancy</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shanna%20Su">Shanna Su</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kathleen%20Vincent"> Kathleen Vincent</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: A non-hormonal prescription vaginal pH modulator (VPM) gel (Phexxi®), with active ingredients lactic acid, citric acid, and potassium bitartrate, has recently been approved for the prevention of pregnancy in the United States. The objective of this review is to compile the evidence available from published preclinical and clinical trials to support its use. Areas covered: PubMed was searched for published literature on VPM gel. Two Phase III trials were found on the clinicaltrials.gov database. The results demonstrated that VPM gel is safe, with minimal side effects, and effective (cumulative 6-7 cycle pregnancy rate of 4.1-13.65%, (Pearl Index 27.5) as a contraceptive. Microbicidal effects suggest the potential for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs); currently, a Phase III clinical trial is being conducted to evaluate the prevention of chlamydia and gonorrhea. Expert opinion: Non-hormonal reversible contraceptive options have been limited to the highly effective copper-releasing intrauterine device that requires insertion by a trained clinician and less effective coitally-associated barrier and spermicide options which are typically available over-the-counter. Spermicides, which improve the efficacy of barrier devices, may increase the risk of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)/STIs. VPM gel provides a new safe, effective non-hormonal contraceptive option with the potential for prevention of STIs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=citric%20acid" title="citric acid">citric acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lactic%20acid" title=" lactic acid"> lactic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-hormonal%20contraception" title=" non-hormonal contraception"> non-hormonal contraception</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=potassium%20bitartrate" title=" potassium bitartrate"> potassium bitartrate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=topical%20vaginal%20contraceptive" title=" topical vaginal contraceptive"> topical vaginal contraceptive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vaginal%20pH%20modulator%20gel" title=" vaginal pH modulator gel"> vaginal pH modulator gel</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152486/lactic-acid-citric-acid-and-potassium-bitartrate-non-hormonal-prescription-vaginal-ph-modulator-gel-for-the-prevention-of-pregnancy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/152486.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">100</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6094</span> Query Task Modulator: A Computerized Experimentation System to Study Media-Multitasking Behavior</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Premjit%20K.%20Sanjram">Premjit K. With the advent of Immersive Virtual Environment Technology (IVET), this issue seems to be at bay. However there is a growing challenge within the IVET itself to design and develop system or software that captures the psychological phenomenon of everyday lives. One such phenomena that is of growing interest is ‘media-multitasking’ To aid laboratory researches in media-multitasking this paper introduces Query Task Modulator (QTM), a computerized experimentation system to study media-multitasking behavior in a controlled laboratory environment. The system provides a computerized platform in conducting an experiment for experimenters to study media-multitasking in which participants will be involved in a query task. The system has Instant Messaging, E-mail, and Voice Call features. The answers to queries are provided on the left hand side information panel where participants have to search for it and feed the information in the respective communication media blocks as fast as possible. On the whole the system will collect multitasking behavioral data. To analyze performance there is a separate output table that records the reaction times and responses of the participants individually. Information panel and all the media blocks will appear on a single window in order to ensure multi-modality feature in media-multitasking and equal emphasis on all the tasks (thus avoiding prioritization to a particular task). The paper discusses the development of QTM in the light of current techniques of studying media-multitasking. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=experimentation%20system" title="experimentation system">experimentation system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=human%20performance" title=" human performance"> human performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=media-multitasking" title=" media-multitasking"> media-multitasking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=query-task" title=" query-task"> query-task</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17481/query-task-modulator-a-computerized-experimentation-system-to-study-media-multitasking-behavior" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/17481.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">557</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6093</span> Design of Decimation Filter Using Cascade Structure for Sigma Delta ADC </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Misbahuddin%20Mahammad">Misbahuddin Mahammad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=P.%20Chandra%20Sekhar"> P. The decimation filters work twofold; they decimate the sampling rate by a factor of OSR (oversampling rate) and they remove the out band quantization noise resulting in an increase in resolution. The speed, area and power consumption of oversampled converter are governed largely by decimation filters in sigma-delta A/D converters. The scope of the work is to design a decimation filter for sigma-delta ADC and simulation using MATLAB. The decimation filter structure is based on cascaded-integrated comb (CIC) filter. A second decimation filter is using CIC for large rate change and cascaded FIR filters, for small rate changes, to improve the frequency response. The proposed structure is even more hardware efficient. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sigma%20delta%20modulator"
