and low-cost microcontroller-based laser communication link. To demonstrate that laser communication is a viable and efficient means for transmitting data, a transceiver capable of transfer rates of approximately 0.7 kB/s is prototyped. The hardware used for the transceiver consists of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) lasers, photodiodes, and the Arduino Mega 2560 which is an open-source and easy-to-use microcontroller-based platform intended for making interactive projects. A graphic user interface utilizing the Meteor framework is developed to facilitate the communication between the user and transceiver. The developed transceiver prototype is capable of receiving and transmitting data at significant ranges with no loss of information. Furthermore, stable and secure communication is achieved through several mechanisms developed to manage simultaneous sending and receiving, in addition to detecting physical interruptions during transmission. The design setup is scalable and with further development can be transformed into a fiber-optic transmission system. Due to its nature, laser communication is very secure and can provide a safe and private communication link. Overall, this paper demonstrates how laser communication can be an economical, durable, and effective means of information transfer. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arduino%20microcontrollers" title="Arduino microcontrollers">Arduino microcontrollers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser%20applications" title=" laser applications"> laser applications</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=user%20interfaces" title=" user interfaces"> user interfaces</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wireless%20communication" title=" wireless communication"> wireless communication</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53299/arduino-based-laser-communication" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53299.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">302</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">136</span> Comfort Sensor Using Fuzzy Logic and Arduino</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samuel%20John">Samuel John</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Sharanya"> S. It has been used to control home entertainment systems, changing the ambience of rooms for different events etc. One of the main parameters to control in a smart home is the atmospheric comfort. Atmospheric comfort mainly includes temperature and relative humidity. In homes, the desired temperature of different rooms varies from 20 °C to 25 °C and relative humidity is around 50%. However, it varies widely. Hence, automated measurement of these parameters to ensure comfort assumes significance. To achieve this, a fuzzy logic controller using Arduino was developed using MATLAB. Arduino is an open source hardware consisting of a 24 pin ATMEGA chip (atmega328), 14 digital input /output pins and an inbuilt ADC. It runs on 5v and 3.3v power supported by a board voltage regulator. Some of the digital pins in Aruduino provide PWM (pulse width modulation) signals, which can be used in different applications. The Arduino platform provides an integrated development environment, which includes support for c, c++ and java programming languages. In the present work, soft sensor was introduced in this system that can indirectly measure temperature and humidity and can be used for processing several measurements these to ensure comfort. The Sugeno method (output variables are functions or singleton/constant, more suitable for implementing on microcontrollers) was used in the soft sensor in MATLAB and then interfaced to the Arduino, which is again interfaced to the temperature and humidity sensor DHT11. The temperature-humidity sensor DHT11 acts as the sensing element in this system. Further, a capacitive humidity sensor and a thermistor were also used to support the measurement of temperature and relative humidity of the surrounding to provide a digital signal on the data pin. The comfort sensor developed was able to measure temperature and relative humidity correctly. The comfort percentage was calculated and accordingly the temperature in the room was controlled. This system was placed in different rooms of the house to ensure that it modifies the comfort values depending on temperature and relative humidity of the environment. Compared to the existing comfort control sensors, this system was found to provide an accurate comfort percentage. Depending on the comfort percentage, the air conditioners and the coolers in the room were controlled. The main highlight of the project is its cost efficiency. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arduino" title="arduino">arduino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DHT11" title=" DHT11"> DHT11</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soft%20sensor" title=" soft sensor"> soft sensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sugeno" title=" sugeno"> sugeno</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38151/comfort-sensor-using-fuzzy-logic-and-arduino" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38151.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">312</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">135</span> Magnetic Levitation Control: A Comparative Analysis of Two-Position and Tuned PID Methods Using Arduino Microcontrollers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Charles%20Anthony%20S.%20Santillan">Charles Anthony S. It is a new yet reliable approach to reduce green gas emission by extracting methane from industry effluents and use it to power machinery. We focused in our project on using paper and mill effluents, treated in a UASB reactor. The methane produced is used in the factory&rsquo;s power supply. The aim of this work is to develop an electronic system using Arduino platform connected to a gas sensor, to measure and display the curve of daily methane production on processing. The sensor will send the gas values in ppm to the Arduino board so that the later sends the RS232 hardware protocol. The code developed with processing will transform the values into a curve and display it on the computer screen. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biogas" title="biogas">biogas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arduino" title=" Arduino"> Arduino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=processing" title=" processing"> processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=code" title=" code"> code</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=methane" title=" methane"> methane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gas%20sensor" title=" gas sensor"> gas sensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=program" title=" program"> program</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63851/biogas-control-methane-production-monitoring-using-arduino" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63851.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">321</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">131</span> An Extra-Curricular Program to Enhance Student Outcome of a Class</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dong%20Jin%20Kang">Dong Jin Kang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Application of single board microcontrollers is an important skill even for non-electronic engineering major students. Arduino board is widely utilized in engineering classes of the Yeungnam University of South Korea. In those classes, students are subjected to learn how to use various sensor components related to motion, sound, light, and so on as well as physical quantities. Students are grouped into several teams, and each team consists of 4~5 students. Many students are not motivated enough to learn those skills. An extracurricular program was planned to improve this problem. The extracurricular program was held as an international boot camp where students from three different countries were invited to participate. 10 students groups were formed, and each team was consisted of students having different nationality. The camp was 4 days long and wrapped up with competitions. During the camp, every student was assigned to design and make a two wheel robot. The competition was carried out in two different areas; individual and group performances. As most skills dealt in the class are used to build the robot, students are much motivated to review the whole subjects of the class. All students were surveyed after the program. The survey shows that the skills studied in the class are greatly improved, and practically understood. Staying at the dormitory and teaming with international students are help students improve communication skills. Competition at the camp was found as a key element to inspire and attract students for voluntary participation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extracurricular%20program" title="extracurricular program">extracurricular program</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=robot" title=" robot"> robot</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arduino%20board" title=" Arduino board"> Arduino board</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=international%20camp" title=" international camp"> international camp</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=competition" title=" competition"> competition</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74441/an-extra-curricular-program-to-enhance-student-outcome-of-a-class" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/74441.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">219</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">130</span> Low Cost Surface Electromyographic Signal Amplifier Based on Arduino Microcontroller</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Igor%20Luiz%20Bernardes%20de%20Moura">Igor Luiz Bernardes de Moura</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luan%20Carlos%20de%20Sena%20Monteiro%20Ozelim"> Luan Carlos de Sena Monteiro Ozelim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fabiano%20Araujo%20Soares"> Fabiano Araujo Soares</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The development of a low cost acquisition system of S-EMG signals which are reliable, comfortable for the user and with high mobility shows to be a relevant proposition in modern biomedical engineering scenario. This study introduces a distinct solution that leverages a combination of MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) sensors, an Arduino Mega microcontroller, and a PC to create a hand gesture interface for PC control and SMS notification. The core of the system is an ADXL335 MEMS accelerometer sensor integrated with an Arduino Mega, which communicates with a PC via a USB cable. The ADXL335 provides real-time acceleration data, which is processed by the Arduino to detect specific hand gestures. These gestures, such as left, right, up, down, or custom patterns, are interpreted by the Arduino, and corresponding actions are triggered. In the context of SMS notifications, when a gesture indicative of a new SMS is recognized, the Arduino relays this information to the PC through the serial connection. The PC application, designed to monitor the Arduino's serial port, displays these SMS notifications in the serial monitor. This study offers an engaging and interactive means of interfacing with a PC by translating hand gestures into meaningful actions, opening up opportunities for intuitive computer control. Furthermore, the integration of SMS notifications adds a practical dimension to the system, notifying users of incoming messages as they interact with their computers. The use of MEMS sensors, Arduino, and serial communication serves as a promising foundation for expanding the capabilities of gesture-based control systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hand%20gestures" title="hand gestures">hand gestures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multiple%20cables" title=" multiple cables"> multiple cables</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=serial%20communication" title=" serial communication"> serial communication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sms%20%20notification" title=" sms notification"> sms notification</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184620/hand-gesture-interface-for-pc-control-and-sms-notification-using-mems-sensors" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184620.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">69</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">128</span> Demonstrating a Relationship of Frequency and Weight with Arduino UNO and Visual Basic Program</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Woraprat%20Chaomuang">Woraprat Chaomuang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sirikorn%20Sringern"> Sirikorn Sringern</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pawanrat%20Chamnanwongsritorn"> Pawanrat Chamnanwongsritorn</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kridsada%20Luangthongkham"> Kridsada Luangthongkham</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, we have applied a digital scale to demonstrate the electricity concept of changing the capacity (C), due to the weight of an object, as a function of the distance between the conductor plates and the pressing down. The analog data measurement requires manual effort to note readings, and there may be a possibility of human error. Such type of systems fails to provide and store precise values of parameters with high accuracy. Analog systems are having drawback of storage/memory. Therefore, there is a requirement of a smart system which is fully automated, accurate and capable enough to monitor all the environmental parameters with utmost possible accuracy. Besides, it should be cost-effective as well as portable too. This paper represents the Wireless Sensor (WS) data communication using DHT11, Arduino, SIM900A GSM module, a mobile device and Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). Experimental setup includes the heating arrangement of DHT11 and transmission of its data using Arduino and SIM900A GSM shield. The mobile device receives the data using Arduino, GSM shield and displays it on LCD too. Heating arrangement is used to heat and cool the temperature sensor to study its characteristics. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wireless%20communication" title="wireless communication">wireless communication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arduino" title=" Arduino"> Arduino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DHT11" title=" DHT11"> DHT11</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LCD" title=" LCD"> LCD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SIM900A%20GSM%20module" title=" SIM900A GSM module"> SIM900A GSM module</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20phone%20SMS" title=" mobile phone SMS"> mobile phone SMS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78503/iot-based-monitoring-temperature-and-humidity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78503.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">282</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">126</span> Design and Implementation of a Monitoring System Using Arduino and MATLAB</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jonas%20P.%20Reges">Jonas P. This research brought several unknowns that were resolved from bibliographical research. Based on the studies performed were found some monitoring methods, including the serial communication between the arduino and matlab which showed a great option due to the low cost. The project was conducted in two stages, the first, an algorithm was developed to the Arduino and Matlab, and second, the circuits were assembled and performed the monitoring tests the following variables: moisture, temperature, and distance. During testing it was possible to momentarily observe the change in the levels of monitored variables. The project showed satisfactory results, such as: real-time verification of the change of state variables, the low cost of acquisition of the prototype, possibility of easy change of programming for the execution of monitoring of other variables. Therefore, the project showed the possibility of monitoring through software and hardware that have easy programming and can be used in several areas. However, it is observed also the possibility of improving the project from a remote monitoring via Bluetooth or web server and through the control of monitored variables. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=automation" title="automation">automation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=monitoring" title=" monitoring"> monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=programming" title=" programming"> programming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arduino" title=" arduino"> arduino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=matlab" title=" matlab"> matlab</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21165/design-and-implementation-of-a-monitoring-system-using-arduino-and-matlab" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21165.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">515</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">125</span> Application of Artificial Neural Networks to Adaptive Speed Control under ARDUINO</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Javier%20Fernandez%20De%20Canete">Javier Fernandez De Canete</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alvaro%20Fernandez-Quintero"> Alvaro Fernandez-Quintero</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nowadays, adaptive control schemes are being used when model based control schemes are applied in presence of uncertainty and model mismatches. An alcohol sensor module is used by the system to determine the amount of alcohol present in the ambient air. When the system detects alcohol levels beyond a certain threshold that is deemed hazardous for driving, it activates a relay module that is linked to the engine of the car, so rendering it inoperable. By preventing people from operating a vehicle while intoxicated, this preventive measure seeks to improve road safety. Adding an ESP8266 module also allows for remote monitoring and notifications, giving users access to real-time status updates on their system. By using an integrated strategy, the initiative provides a workable and efficient way to lessen the dangers related to driving while intoxicated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MQ3%20sensor" title="MQ3 sensor">MQ3 sensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ESP%208266" title=" ESP 8266"> ESP 8266</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arduino" title=" arduino"> arduino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IoT" title=" IoT"> IoT</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185414/alcohol-detection-with-engine-locking-system-using-arduino-and-esp8266" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/185414.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">66</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">122</span> Temperature Distribution Control for Baby Incubator System Using Arduino AT Mega 2560</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=W.%20Widhiada">W. It can generate a larger force than the conventional actuators with the same size. Furthermore, the response time of piezoelectric actuators is very short, and thus, it can be used for very fast system applications with compact size. To control the piezoelectric actuator, we need analog signal conditioning circuits as well as digital microcontrollers. Conventional microcontrollers are not equipped with analog parts and thus the control system becomes bulky compared with the small size of the piezoelectric devices. To overcome these weaknesses, we are developing one-chip micro controller that can handle analog and digital signals simultaneously using mixed signal FPGA technology. We used the SmartFusion™ FPGA device that integrates ARM®Cortex-M3, analog interface and FPGA fabric in a single chip and offering full customization. It gives more flexibility than traditional fixed-function microcontrollers with the excessive cost of soft processor cores on traditional FPGAs. In this paper we introduce the design of single chip controller using mixed signal FPGA, SmartFusion™[1] device. To demonstrate its performance, we implemented a PI controller for power driving circuit and a 5th order H-infinity controller for the system with piezoelectric actuator in the FPGA fabric. We also demonstrated the regulation of a power output and the operation speed of a 5th order H-infinity controller. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixed%20signal%20FPGA" title="mixed signal FPGA">mixed signal FPGA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PI%20control" title=" PI control"> PI control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piezoelectric%20actuator" title=" piezoelectric actuator"> piezoelectric actuator</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SmartFusion%E2%84%A2" title=" SmartFusion™"> SmartFusion™</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11815/single-chip-controller-design-for-piezoelectric-actuators-with-mixed-signal-fpga" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11815.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">520</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">116</span> Speed-Up Data Transmission by Using Bluetooth Module on Gas Sensor Node of Arduino Board</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hiesik%20Kim">Hiesik Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=YongBeum%20Kim"> YongBeum Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Internet of Things (IoT) applications are widely serviced and spread worldwide. The experiment is designed using Arduino as a central tool in order to make the experimental activity more engaging and attractive for students with the use of digital technologies. From the characteristic curves of each LED, graphical analysis was used to obtain the cutting potential, and knowing the corresponding wavelength, it was possible to calculate Planck's constant. This constant was also obtained from the linear adjustment of the cutting potential graph by the frequency of each LED. Given the relevance of Planck's constant in physics, it is believed that this experiment can offer teachers the opportunity to approach concepts from modern physics, such as the quantization of energy, in a more accessible and applied way in the classroom. This will not only enrich students' understanding of the fundamental nature of matter but also encourage deeper engagement with the principles of quantum physics. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physics%20teaching" title="physics teaching">physics teaching</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=educational%20technology" title=" educational technology"> educational technology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modern%20physics" title=" modern physics"> modern physics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Planck%20constant" title=" Planck constant"> Planck constant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arduino" title=" Arduino"> Arduino</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/173953/a-low-cost-experimental-approach-for-teaching-energy-quantization-determining-the-planck-constant-with-arduino-and-led" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/173953.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">76</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">113</span> Construction of a Desktop Arduino Controlled Propeller Test Stand</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Brian%20Kozak">Brian Kozak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ryan%20Ferguson"> Ryan Ferguson</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Evan%20Hockeridge"> Evan Hockeridge </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Aerospace engineering and aeronautical engineering students studying propulsion often learn about propellers and their importance in aviation propulsion. In order to reinforce concepts introduced in the classroom, laboratory projects are used. However, to test a full scale propeller, an engine mounted on a test stand must be used. This engine needs to be enclosed in a test cell for appropriated safety requirements, is expensive to operate, and requires a significant amount of time to change propellers. In order to decrease costs and time requirements, the authors designed and built an electric motor powered desktop Arduino controlled test stand. This test stand is used to enhance student understanding of propeller size and pitch on thrust. The test stand can accommodate propellers up to 25 centimeters in diameter. The code computer allowed for the motor speed to be increased or decreased by 1% per second. Outputs that are measured are thrust, motor rpm, amperes, voltage, and motor temperature. These data are exported as a .CVS file and can be imported into a graphing program for data analysis. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arduino" title="Arduino">Arduino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laboratory%20Project" title=" Laboratory Project"> Laboratory Project</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Test%20stand" title=" Test stand"> Test stand</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Propeller" title=" Propeller"> Propeller</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122938/construction-of-a-desktop-arduino-controlled-propeller-test-stand" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122938.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">219</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">112</span> Transferring Data from Glucometer to Mobile Device via Bluetooth with Arduino Technology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tolga%20Hayit">Tolga Hayit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ucman%20Ergun"> Ucman Ergun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ugur%20Fidan"> Ugur Fidan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Being healthy is undoubtedly an indispensable necessity for human life. With technological improvements, in the literature, various health monitoring and imaging systems have been developed to satisfy your health needs. In this context, the work of monitoring and recording the data of individual health monitoring data via wireless technology is also being part of these studies. Nowadays, mobile devices which are located in almost every house and which become indispensable of our life and have wireless technology infrastructure have an important place of making follow-up health everywhere and every time because these devices were using in the health monitoring systems. In this study, Arduino an open-source microcontroller card was used in which a sample sugar measuring device was connected in series. In this way, the glucose data (glucose ratio, time) obtained with the glucometer is transferred to the mobile device based on the Android operating system with the Bluetooth technology channel. A mobile application was developed using the Apache Cordova framework for listing data, presenting graphically and reading data over Arduino. Apache Cordova, HTML, Javascript and CSS are used in coding section. The data received from the glucometer is stored in the local database of the mobile device. It is intended that people can transfer their measurements to their mobile device by using wireless technology and access the graphical representations of their data. In this context, the aim of the study is to be able to perform health monitoring by using different wireless technologies in mobile devices that can respond to different wireless technologies at present. Thus, that will contribute the other works done in this area. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arduino" title="Arduino">Arduino</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bluetooth" title=" Bluetooth"> Bluetooth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=glucose%20measurement" title=" glucose measurement"> glucose measurement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mobile%20health%20monitoring" title=" mobile health monitoring"> mobile health monitoring</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79642/transferring-data-from-glucometer-to-mobile-device-via-bluetooth-with-arduino-technology" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/79642.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">322</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">111</span> Performance Analysis of Wireless Sensor Networks in Areas for Sports Activities and Environmental Preservation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Teles%20de%20Sales%20Bezerra">Teles de Sales Bezerra</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saulo%20Aislan%20da%20Silva%20Eleuterio"> Saulo Aislan da Silva Eleuterio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jos%C3%A9%20Anderson%20Rodrigues%20de%20Souza"> José Anderson Rodrigues de Souza</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C3%8Dtalo%20de%20Pontes%20Oliveira"> Ítalo de Pontes Oliveira</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents a analysis of performance the Received Strength Signal Indicator (RSSI) to Wireless Sensor Networks, with a finality of investigate a behavior of ZigBee devices operating into real environments. Students collaborated in small teams by completing hands-on activities with them, making an interactive walking cane for blind people. At the end of the course, students filled out a Technology Acceptance Model version 2 (TAM2) questionnaire where they evaluated microcontroller boards&rsquo; applications in HCI classes. We also asked them about applying the Maker Movement in HCI classes. Results showed overall students&rsquo; positive opinions and response about using microcontroller boards in HCI classes.
