Although some progress has been made to improve PSO algorithms over the last two decades, additional work is still needed to balance parameters to achieve better numerical properties of accuracy, efficiency, and stability. In the optimal PSO algorithm, the optimal weightings of (√ 5 − 1)/2 and (3 − √5)/2 are used for the cognitive factor and the social factor, respectively. By the same token, the same optimal weightings have been applied for intensification searches and diversification searches, respectively. Perturbation and constriction effects are optimally balanced. Simulations of the de Jong, the Rosenbrock, and the Griewank functions show that the optimal PSO algorithm indeed achieves better numerical properties and outperforms the canonical PSO algorithm. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diversification%20search" title="diversification search">diversification search</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intensification%20search" title=" intensification search"> intensification search</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimal%20weighting" title=" optimal weighting"> optimal weighting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20swarm%20optimization" title=" particle swarm optimization"> particle swarm optimization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36390/optimized-algorithm-for-particle-swarm-optimization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36390.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">581</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4714</span> Optimization of Cloud Classification Using Particle Swarm Algorithm</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Riffi%20Mohammed%20Amine">Riffi Mohammed Amine</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A cloud is made up of small particles of liquid water or ice suspended in the atmosphere, which generally do not reach the ground. In this context, we implement a hybrid Particle Swarm optimization and Nelder Mead algorithm in order to minimize by least squares method, the difference between the zero-coupon curve and the NSS curve. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimization" title="optimization">optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=zero-coupon%20curve" title=" zero-coupon curve"> zero-coupon curve</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nelson-Siegel-Svensson" title=" Nelson-Siegel-Svensson"> Nelson-Siegel-Svensson</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20swarm%20optimization" title=" particle swarm optimization"> particle swarm optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nelder-Mead%20algorithm" title=" Nelder-Mead algorithm"> Nelder-Mead algorithm</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48619/a-hybrid-particle-swarm-optimization-nelder-mead-algorithm-pso-nm-for-nelson-siegel-svensson-calibration" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48619.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">430</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4710</span> Cuckoo Search (CS) Optimization Algorithm for Solving Constrained Optimization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sait%20Ali%20Uymaz">Sait Ali Uymaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=G%C3%BClay%20Tezel"> Gülay Tezel</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents the comparison results on the performance of the Cuckoo Search (CS) algorithm for constrained optimization problems. Among the many loss minimization algorithms (LMAs) for an induction motor, a particle swarm optimization (PSO) has the advantages of fast response and high accuracy. However, the performance of the PSO and other optimization algorithms depend on the accuracy of the modeling of the motor drive and losses. In the development of the loss model, there is always a trade off between accuracy and complexity. This paper presents a new online optimization to determine an optimum flux level for the efficiency optimization of the vector-controlled induction motor drive. An induction motor (IM) model in d-q coordinates is referenced to the rotor magnetizing current. This transformation results in no leakage inductance on the rotor side, thus the decomposition into d-q components in the steady-state motor model can be utilized in deriving the motor loss model. The suggested algorithm is simple for implementation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=induction%20machine" title="induction machine">induction machine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=loss%20minimization" title=" loss minimization"> loss minimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetizing%20current" title=" magnetizing current"> magnetizing current</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20swarm%20optimization" title=" particle swarm optimization"> particle swarm optimization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15437/using-of-particle-swarm-optimization-for-loss-minimization-of-vector-controlled-induction-motors" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15437.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">632</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4704</span> Design of Optimal Proportional Integral Derivative Attitude Controller for an Uncoupled Flexible Satellite Using Particle Swarm Optimization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Martha%20C.%20Orazulume">Martha C. Therefore, the system must be able to adjust to balance the effect of these appendages in order to point accurately and satisfactorily which is one of the most important problems in satellite design. Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) Controller is simple to design and computationally efficient to implement which is used to stabilize the effect of these flexible appendages. However, manual turning of the PID is time consuming, waste energy and money. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used to tune the parameters of PID Controller. Simulation results obtained show that PSO tuned PID Controller is able to re-orient the spacecraft attitude as well as dampen the effect of mechanical resonance and yields better performance when compared with manually tuned PID Controller. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Attitude%20Control" title="Attitude Control">Attitude Control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Flexible%20Satellite" title=" Flexible Satellite"> Flexible Satellite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Particle%20Swarm%20Optimization" title=" Particle Swarm Optimization"> Particle Swarm Optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PID%20Controller%20and%20Optimization" title=" PID Controller and Optimization"> PID Controller and Optimization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37412/design-of-optimal-proportional-integral-derivative-attitude-controller-for-an-uncoupled-flexible-satellite-using-particle-swarm-optimization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37412.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">401</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4703</span> Optimal Allocation of Distributed Generation Sources for Loss Reduction and Voltage Profile Improvement by Using Particle Swarm Optimization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Zaheer%20Babar">Muhammad Zaheer Babar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amer%20Kashif"> Amer Kashif</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Rizwan%20Javed"> Muhammad Rizwan Javed</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nowadays distributed generation integration is best way to overcome the increasing load demand. Optimal allocation of distributed generation plays a vital role in reducing system losses and improves voltage profile. In this paper, a Meta heuristic technique is proposed for allocation of DG in order to reduce power losses and improve voltage profile. The proposed technique is based on Multi Objective Particle Swarm optimization. Fewer control parameters are needed in this algorithm. Modification is made in search space of PSO. The effectiveness of proposed technique is tested on IEEE 33 bus test system. Single DG as well as multiple DG scenario is adopted for proposed method. In the case of multiple choices, the search for the initial marking leads to a problem of optimization of the minimum allocation of resources with two constraints. The first concerns the firing sequence that could be legal on the initial marking with respect to the firing vector. The second deals with the total number of tokens that can be minimal. In this article, the MIM problem is solved by the meta-heuristic particle swarm optimization (PSO). The proposed approach presents the advantages of PSO to satisfy the two previous constraints and find all possible combinations of minimum initial marking with the best computing time. This method, more efficient than conventional ones, has an excellent impact on the resolution of the MIM problem. The controller design is formulated as an optimization problem in order to shift the system electromechanical modes in a pre-specified region in the s-plan. A composite set of objective functions comprising the damping factor and the damping ratio of the undamped and lightly damped electromechanical modes is considered. The performance of the proposed optimization algorithm is verified for the 3-machine 9-bus system. Simulation results based on eigenvalue analysis and nonlinear time-domain simulation show the potential and superiority of the NSPSO-LS algorithm in tuning PSSs over a wide range of loading conditions and large disturbance compared to the classic PSO technique and genetic algorithms. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-objective%20optimization" title="multi-objective optimization">multi-objective optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=particle%20swarm%20optimization" title=" particle swarm optimization"> particle swarm optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power%20system%20stabilizer" title=" power system stabilizer"> power system stabilizer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low%20frequency%20oscillations" title=" low frequency oscillations"> low frequency oscillations</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/60093/optimal-design-of-multimachine-power-system-stabilizers-using-improved-multi-objective-particle-swarm-optimization-algorithm" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/60093.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">431</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4700</span> Non-Convex Multi Objective Economic Dispatch Using Ramp Rate Biogeography Based Optimization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Susanta%20Kumar%20Gachhayat">Susanta Kumar Gachhayat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20K.%20Dash"> S. Through 50 out of 100 trials, the cost function and emission objective function were found to have outperformed other classical methods such as lambda iteration method, quadratic programming method and many heuristic methods like particle swarm optimization method, weight improved particle swarm optimization method, constriction factor based particle swarm optimization method, moderate random particle swarm optimization method etc. Ramp rate biogeography based optimization applications prove quite advantageous in solving non convex multi objective economic dispatch problems subjected to nonlinear loads that pollute the source giving rise to third harmonic distortions and other such disturbances. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=economic%20load%20dispatch" title="economic load dispatch">economic load dispatch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ELD" title=" ELD"> ELD</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biogeography-based%20optimization" title=" biogeography-based optimization"> biogeography-based optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BBO" title=" BBO"> BBO</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ramp%20rate%20biogeography-based%20optimization" title=" ramp rate biogeography-based optimization"> ramp rate biogeography-based optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RRBBO" title=" RRBBO"> RRBBO</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=valve-point%20loading" title=" valve-point loading"> valve-point loading</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=VPL" title=" VPL"> VPL</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67748/non-convex-multi-objective-economic-dispatch-using-ramp-rate-biogeography-based-optimization" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67748.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">379</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4699</span> Three-Dimensional Off-Line Path Planning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Using Modified Particle Swarm Optimization </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lana%20Dalawr%20Jalal">Lana Dalawr Jalal </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper addresses the problem of offline path planning for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in complex three-dimensional environment with obstacles, which is modelled by 3D Cartesian grid system. A 6-unit 30 bus IEEE test case system has been utilized for simulating the results involving improved weight factor advanced ramp rate limit constraints for optimizing total cost of generation and emission. This method increases the tendency of particles to venture into the solution space to ameliorate their convergence rates. Earlier works through dispersed PSO (DPSO) and constriction factor based PSO (CPSO) give rise to comparatively higher computational time and less good optimal solution at par with current dissertation. We first explain how to apply compound function in neural network so that we can derive a Flexible Logistic (S-shaped) Growth Curve (FLGC) model. This model mathematically represents software failure as a random process and can be used to evaluate software development status during testing. To avoid trapping in local minima, we have applied Particle Swarm Optimization method to train proposed model using failure test data sets. We drive our proposed model using computational based intelligence modeling. Thus, proposed model becomes Neuro-Particle Swarm Optimization (NPSO) model. We do test result with different inertia weight to update particle and update velocity. We obtain result based on best inertia weight compare along with Personal based oriented PSO (pPSO) help to choose local best in network neighborhood.
