Therefore cut it down! Why even should it use up the ground?’</span> </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>And answering, he says to him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also, until I shall dig around it, and put <i>in</i> manure, <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>and if indeed it should bear fruit in the <i>time</i>, so be it. But if not, you will cut it down.’” </p><p class="hdg">Jesus Heals a Woman on the Sabbath</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>And He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbaths. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>And behold, a woman having a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and she was bent over and not able to lift herself up to the full. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>And having seen her, Jesus called <i>her</i> near and said to her, <span class="red">“Woman, you have been freed from your sickness.”</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And He laid the hands upon her, and immediately she was made straight and began to glorify God. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And answering, the ruler of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, was saying to the crowd, “There are six days in which it behooves <i>one</i> to work. Therefore coming, be healed in these, and not on the day of the Sabbath.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Therefore the Lord answered him and said, <span class="red">“Hypocrites! Does not each one of you untie his ox or donkey from the stall on the Sabbath, and having led <i>it</i> away, give <i>it</i> to drink? <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>And this, being a daughter of Abraham whom Satan has bound, behold, eighteen years, ought <i>she</i> not to be loosed from this bond on the day of the Sabbath?”</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And of Him saying these things, all those opposed to Him were ashamed; and the whole crowd was rejoicing at all the glorious things that were being done by Him. </p><p class="hdg">The Parable of the Mustard Seed<br /><span class="cross">(Matthew 13:31-32; Mark 4:30-34)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And He was saying, <span class="red">“To what is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I liken it? <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>It is like to a grain of mustard, which a man having taken, cast into his garden; and it grew and came into a tree, and the birds of the air encamped in its branches.”</span> </p><p class="hdg">The Parable of the Leaven<br /><span class="cross">(Judges 20:18-23; 2 Samuel 2:12-32; 2 Chronicles 13:4-19; Matthew 13:33)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>And again He said, <span class="red">“To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>It is like to leaven, which a woman, having taken, hid in three measures of meal, until it all was leavened.”</span> </p><p class="hdg">The Narrow Door<br /><span class="cross">(Matthew 7:13-14)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>And He was going through by towns and villages, teaching and making progress toward Jerusalem. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>And someone said to Him, “Lord, if those being saved <i>are</i> few?”</p><p class="reg"> And He said to them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span><span class="red">“Strive to enter in through the narrow door; for many, I say to you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>From the time the master of the house shall have risen up and shall have shut the door, then you shall begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, open to us.’</span></p><p class="red"> And he answering, will say to you, ‘I do not know from where you are.’ </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Then will you begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’ </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>And he will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know from where you are; depart from me, all <i>you</i> workers of unrighteousness.’ </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>There will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you are being cast out. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>And they will come from east and west, and from north and south, and will recline in the kingdom of God. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>And behold, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.” </p><p class="hdg">Lament over Jerusalem<br /><span class="cross">(Matthew 23:37-39)</span></p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>In the same hour certain Pharisees came near, saying to Him, “Go out and proceed from here, for Herod desires to kill You.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>And He said to them, <span class="red">“Having gone, say to that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and I complete cures today and tomorrow, and the third <i>day</i> I am perfected.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-33.htm"><b>33</b></a></span>But it behooves Me to proceed today and tomorrow and the following <i>day</i>. For it is not possible <i>for</i> a prophet to perish outside of Jerusalem.</span> </p><p class="red"><span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-34.htm"><b>34</b></a></span>Jerusalem, Jerusalem, killing the prophets, and stoning those having been sent to her, how often I have wanted to gather your children, <i>the</i> way that a hen <i>gathers</i> her brood under the wings, and you were not willing. <span class="reftext"><a href="/luke/13-35.htm"><b>35</b></a></span>Behold, your house is left to you.
