The National DNCL Rules set out responsibilities for Canada鈥檚 telemarketers and clients of telemarketers. </div> <div class="main-description"> As a <span class="bold">consumer</span> , you can choose to reduce the number of telemarketing calls you receive by <a href="/en/Consumer/Register-your-number">registering</a> your personal telephone number, including landline, wireless, fax or VoIP on the National DNCL. You can also <a href="/en/Consumer/Check-your-registration">check your registration</a>, , find out how to <a href="/en/Consumer/Deregister-Number">remove your number</a> from the National DNCL, and <a href="/en/Consumer/File-a-complaint">file a complaint</a> about telemarketing calls. Please consult our <a href="/en/Consumer/Frequently-Asked-Questions">frequently asked questions</a> section to find out more about the National DNCL. <div class="main-description">You may only register and/or remove a number for which you are the service subscriber or for which you have been granted the express authority to act on behalf of the service subscriber.</div> <div class="main-description">Your registration becomes effective thirty-one (31) days after you register. Once you register your number, it does not expire, and will stay on the list indefinitely unless you remove it.</div> <div class="main-description">Business to business telemarketing calls are exempt from the National DNCL. Therefore, business numbers are not to be registered on the National DNCL, including personal telephone lines that are also used for business purposes.</div> </div> <div class="main-description"> As a <span class="bold">telemarketer, or a client of a telemarketer</span> , you need to be aware of your responsibilities regarding the use of the National DNCL.
