Hardware, service, and cost were all below average.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> The hardware that they sold me all malfunctioned. All my phones were desktop devices and broke in under three years. We are not abusive to our phones, and I purchased three phones that all malfunctioned. Ring Central would not stand behind their product and required me to buy all new equipment. These were Cisco phones. Ring central also requires you to sign a multi-year contract with only thirty days to get out of the contract over a four year period. If you do not give them notice and attempt they will charge you the entire length of the service contract as "damages". This was never discussed with me and I was never provided a copy of the original contract. Also, any service you add fall under the same rigid cancellation policy, but you can never downgrade your service without penalty. Ring central is also not cost competitive. They are 50 percent more than other providers and can raise your cost while in contract. If you balk you will still have to pay a cancellation fee. Basically assume you have no rights whatsoever. The ringcentral "service" team is in East Asia. Hardware, service, and cost were all below average.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> The hardware that they sold me all malfunctioned. All my phones were desktop devices and broke in under three years. We are not abusive to our phones, and I purchased three phones that all malfunctioned. Ring Central would not stand behind their product and required me to buy all new equipment. These were Cisco phones. Ring central also requires you to sign a multi-year contract with only thirty days to get out of the contract over a four year period. If you do not give them notice and attempt they will charge you the entire length of the service contract as "damages". This was never discussed with me and I was never provided a copy of the original contract. Also, any service you add fall under the same rigid cancellation policy, but you can never downgrade your service without penalty. Ring central is also not cost competitive. They are 50 percent more than other providers and can raise your cost while in contract. If you balk you will still have to pay a cancellation fee. Basically assume you have no rights whatsoever. The ringcentral "service" team is in East Asia. The best part? I can do all these at the comforts of my home!</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> There has been some bug on the number of pending calls. The reports are often inaccurate. The conferencing feature is useful. The WEN interface is easy to use. Plus, you can create custom settings for your needs such as forwarding to your mobile phone, custom greetings, etc. I think it is an ideal platform for small and home businesses.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> It is not easy to set up the system the first time, but on the plus side you can call customer support and they provide prompt assistance. We switched from verizon, but immediately after switching had major problems with call quality and dropped calls to our business. Therefore we tried to switch the number back to Verizon and it has become a nightmare. RingCentral will not release the number! I have called more than 20 times to attempt to resolve this. This is negatively affecting our business as our incoming calls are not being received. I have spoken with numerous employees who tell me the "port team" will help, but then they deny verizon's request for the transfer. I have spent over 8 hours on the phone and 6 days and still cannot get Ringcentral to release the line. They refuse, and then when I call them they say to resubmit the request. You can fax directly from your desktop application. Plus, you can get voicemails delivered to you in email format via MP3. Finally, you can use the iPhone app to port all calls to your mobile phone in the order you want.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> The only drawback is the Salesforce plug-in was not up to mark when I tested it a few months ago. RingCentral won't allow you to downgrade after signing up. Needs change, and other companies will allow you to adapt. I have waited over an hour to talk to someone for critical issues. For example, the hours weren\\\'t working so I called in during the day and the customer service agent was pleasant and we appeared to find the issue and fix it. The next day the hours were still off. So I called back into customer service and was on hold for over 80 minutes! By the time I spoke with them, I couldn\\\'t test the fix so now must wait another day to see if it is fixed and if not call back in in the hopes that I can get through in less than an hour so the issue can be troubleshooted. Another issue is in the estimate. They told me to expect a cost of 7-10% of the lines in taxes and fees. I am currently paying 50% the cost of the lines in taxes and fees! They are quite deceptive with these. mobile app and faxing features. Our team is located in different time zones and the team members travel a lot. With RingCentral, they can be productive anywhere. I recently sent them training material on how to send a fax using the app which I think will make our work easier.</p> <p><strong>CONS:</strong> I think there are a few areas where RingCentral can make improvements. First, when a call comes in there is no way I can know that it is coming through Ring Central till I pick it up and listen to the recording. Plus, some phone systems don’t recognize our extensions which means our main company rep gets needless calls. My model has an auto-dial system which makes the phone ring randomly if it is inactive for a few seconds.
