It is issued annually, usually on Bloomsday. </p> <div class="cut"> <p><em>JJLS</em> began publication in May 1987, under the late Bernard Benstock. From 1987 to 2021, <em>JJLS</em> was published by the University of Miami. During that period, <em>JJLS</em> had three editors: Bernard Benstock (1986-1994), Zack Bowen (1994-2010), and Patrick A. McCarthy (1999-2021). Haiku poems consist of 3 lines. The first and last lines of a Haiku have 5 syllables and the middle line has 7 syllables. The lines rarely rhyme.</p> <p><strong>Limerick</strong>&nbsp;- Submissions due by Sunday, April 18, 2021 at 11:59 pm.&nbsp;<br> A limerick is a funny 5 line poem with a strict rhyme scheme of AABBA. The third and fourth lines (BB) are shorter. Please remember to note the prohibition on sexually explicit content below. Their minds and bodies reflected their third-world heritages, and they felt a need to communicate with others like themselves.
