Unlike conventional soda lime silicate glass, which is made from quartz sand, soda ash and limestone, LionGlass eliminates the use of carbon-containing batch materials and significantly lowers the melting temperature of glass. This reduces the carbon footprint of glass manufacturing by nearly half and extends the furnace lifetimes. Moreover, LionGlass is much more damage resistant than standard glass, with some compositions showing no cracks even under a one kilogram-force load from a diamond indenter. LionGlass is at least 10 times as crack-resistant as conventional glass, which cracks under a load of about 0.1 kilograms of force.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nLionGlass is still in the early stages of development and has not yet reached the market. The research team recently filed a patent application as a first step toward commercializing the product. The pricing and availability of LionGlass will depend on several factors, such as the scale of production, the demand from customers, and the competition from other glass manufacturers. All of these are designed with a contemporary look and use a traditional glassmaking technique dating back centuries of years ago. It comes in the finishes of Clear or Smoke which is a semi-clear look. <br \/>\n<br \/>\nThe collection features a tumbler, a carafe, and a highball -- offering the perfect additions to hosting. The technique that is used to create the capsule dates back to 1450 and reigns from Germany. Historically, artisans would blow molten glass into a ribbed mold and remove it while it can still be molded. The cup is beautiful in terms of its design and it is crafted from glass that is collected and recycled by the largest glass recycling center in Taiwan. <br \/>\n<br \/>\nThe product is also an entirely recyclable glass product which means that when the product reaches the end of its life, it can be disposed of properly or recycled for another use. These themes are all fused together and there are 11 pieces in the series that are defined by colorful glass attached to the structure. To create the series, the artisans used Botosilicate glass, which was invented in Germany during the late 1800s.
