moment on Twitter. Newly designed and rebuilt with a completely web-based framework, you can now access TweetDeck in several ways:</p> <ul> <li> <strong>On the web: </strong>You can sign up and log into TweetDeck at <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121225104303/http://web.tweetdeck.com/">http://web.tweetdeck.com</a>. Safari, Chrome, and Firefox are supported. Support for IE will be added soon!</li> <li> <strong>As a Chrome app: </strong>You can go to the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121225104303/https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/home">Chrome Web Store</a> and install the TweetDeck app. The look and feel of the Chrome app matches the web version exactly.</li> <li> <strong>On your PC or Mac: </strong>If you prefer to use a native application on your Windows 7 or OS X machine, you can download TweetDeck apps for these platforms. Download the Windows version from the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121225104303/http://web.tweetdeck.com/">TweetDeck site</a>; The Mac version can be downloaded from the Apple App Store.</li> </ul> <h3> <a name="account"></a>About TweetDeck accounts</h3> <ul> <li>A TweetDeck account is different; it allows you to manage multiple accounts and synchronize your configuration when you use TweetDeck from different computers.</li> <li>Since it is not a Twitter account, you can't Tweet with it (Tweets are posted to your Twitter account), and you can't sign in to TweetDeck with your Twitter credentials.</li> </ul> <h3> <a name="signup"></a>To sign up for a TweetDeck account:</h3> <ol> <li>Go to <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20121225104303/http://web.tweetdeck.com/">http://web.tweetdeck.com</a>.</li> <li>Provide an <strong>email address</strong> and <strong>password</strong> and you're ready to go! <strong>(Note: You must create a new account with TweetDeck. You cannot create an account with your current Twitter login credentials.)</strong> </li> <li>Once you're signed in, you can add multiple Twitter or Facebook accounts to your TweetDeck account.</li> </ol> <p><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121225104303im_/https://si0.twimg.com/help/1350413199_41574" width="450"></p> <h3> <a name="columns"></a>Using TweetDeck columns</h3> <p>Instead of a single timeline, TweetDeck allows you to create columns to display specific content that interests you. You can create a column that shows all your mentions, the results of a search query, a list of favorites, the latest Tweets from a hashtag or Trend... the possibilities are nearly endless!</p> <p><strong>To add a column:</strong></p> <ol> <li>Click <strong>Add Column</strong> in the top navigation bar, which will open a menu that allows selection of several column types.</li> <li>Once you've created a column, you can click <strong>Back</strong> to add another column or click the <strong>[x]</strong> in the top right corner to close the menu.</li> </ol> <p><strong>To turn column notifications sounds on or off:</strong></p> <ol> <li>Hover your mouse over the header of the column you wish to turn sound notifications on or off for.</li> <li>Click the settings icon that appears in the top right corner of the header. A menu will appear.</li> <li>Check the box next to <strong>Notification sounds</strong> to turn notification sounds on. Uncheck the box to turn them off.</li> <li>Once your settings are in place, click the settings icon again to close out the menu.</li> </ol> <p><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121225104303im_/https://si0.twimg.com/help/1350413243_314346" width="650"></p> <h3> <a name="filtering"></a>Global filters</h3> <p>If you find you have lots of unwanted updates filling up your columns, using a <strong>global filter</strong> will remove any content you're just not that interested in. You can use this to filter out specific Twitter accounts, services, or even hashtags like #sxsw.</p> <p><strong>To create a global filter:</strong></p> <ol> <li>Click the <strong>settings icon </strong>(looks like a gear cog) in the far right corner of the top navigation bar and select <strong>Settings.</strong> </li> <li>Select <strong>Global Filter.</strong> </li> <li>Choose your filter settings and select <strong>Add filter</strong> to finish.</li> </ol> <p><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121225104303im_/https://si0.twimg.com/help/1350413287_54053" width="500"></p> <h3> <a name="scheduling"></a>Scheduling Tweets and direct messages</h3> <p>Need to send a Tweet later? Use TweetDeck's scheduling feature to post an update for specific time and date in the future. The scheduling option is visible when you create a new Tweet.</p> <p><strong>To schedule a new Tweet:</strong></p> <ol> <li>Click the <strong>compose Tweet icon</strong> (looks like a feather quill) in the top navigation bar.</li> <li>Type in your desired message and click the <strong>time settings icon</strong> at the bottom of the pop-up composer to select a date and time.</li> <li>When you're ready to send, click <strong>Tweet</strong>.</li> </ol> <p>Once you've given a time and date for your message, a new column will appear showing your scheduled Tweets. This column will also allow you to edit or delete your Tweets before they're sent. You can also attach a photo to your Tweet by clicking the <strong>camera icon</strong>. To send a direct message, click the <strong>message icon</strong> (looks like an envelope).</p> <h3><img src="https://web.archive.org/web/20121225104303im_/https://si0.twimg.com/help/1350413379_142362"></h3> <h3> <a name="account-management"></a>Account management</h3> <p>You can easily manage all your Twitter accounts from TweetDeck without switching between them. At the touch of a button, you can view information from all of your accounts at once, and even cross-post Tweets to different accounts.
