This month’s theme was <a href=\"http://www.bbc.com/travel/story/20150219-show-us-your-favourite-hideaways-and-getaways\">Favourite Hideaways</a>.</em></p>\n<p><em>Every month, a new winner will be inducted into our Photo Nomad Hall of Fame. Davda, BBC Travel’s first Photo Nomad, was born in London and lives in Zurich, Switzerland.</em></p>\n<p><em>We recently caught up with Davda, 36, to find out how he got this shot.</em></p>\n<p>{\"image\":{ \"pid\": \"p02n68bb\" }}<strong><br /></strong></p>\n<p>I took this photo in Utsjoki in the far north of Finland on a cold March day. My wife and I were visiting friends who had invited us to spend a week with them.</p>\n<p>Utsjoki is in the Arctic Circle, so we spent our time husky sledding and travelling on snowmobiles. It really was a winter paradise. We based ourselves in our friends’ house, and later we rode a couple of snowmobiles to one of their other places, which is the hut you see in this shot. It was an amazing hideaway, but we had to drill into a nearby frozen lake to get water!</p>\n<p>We stayed at the hut, and at midnight, we looked out and there was a fantastic view of the Northern Lights. They were so beautiful, shimmering in the sky. I grabbed my camera and started snapping. I used my Canon 7D on a tripod with my 24mm lens. It was almost -25C degrees outside but I shot for three hours.</p>\n<p>To get a good shot, I often have to take quite few pictures. I set up this particular photograph with my wife – she went to the snowmobile and turned on the light, which gave the image a focus other than the Northern Lights.</p>\n<p>It was tough at times. It was hard to control the settings on the camera because I was wearing gloves and when I took them off, my fingers were black and blue with the cold. But it was absolutely worth it to capture this hideaway. My wife and I were visiting friends who had invited us to spend a week with them.</p> <p>Utsjoki is in the Arctic Circle, so we spent our time husky sledding and travelling on snowmobiles. It really was a winter paradise. We based ourselves in our friends’ house, and later we rode a couple of snowmobiles to one of their other places, which is the hut you see in this shot. It was an amazing hideaway, but we had to drill into a nearby frozen lake to get water!</p> <p>We stayed at the hut, and at midnight, we looked out and there was a fantastic view of the Northern Lights. They were so beautiful, shimmering in the sky. I grabbed my camera and started snapping. I used my Canon 7D on a tripod with my 24mm lens. It was almost -25C degrees outside but I shot for three hours.</p> <p>To get a good shot, I often have to take quite few pictures. I set up this particular photograph with my wife – she went to the snowmobile and turned on the light, which gave the image a focus other than the Northern Lights.</p> <p>It was tough at times. It was hard to control the settings on the camera because I was wearing gloves and when I took them off, my fingers were black and blue with the cold. But it was absolutely worth it to capture this hideaway.
