<t><p class="indent1">You will fall<MH5307> on the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>open<MH6440> field<MH7704>; you will not be brought<MH622> together<MH622> or <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>gathered<MH6908>. <t><p class="indent1">I have given<MH5414> you for food<MH402> to the animals<MH2421b> of the earth<MH776> and to the birds<MH5775> of the sky<MH8064>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>“Then all<MH3605> the inhabitants<MH3427> of Egypt<MH4714> will know<MH3045> that I am the LORD<MH3068>, <t><p class="indent1">Because<MH3282> they have been<MH1961> <i>only</i> a staff<MH4938b> <i>made</i> of reed<MH7070> to the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478>. <poetry><p class="indent1"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>“When they took<MH8610> hold<MH8610> of you with the hand<MH3709>, <t><p class="indent1">You broke<MH7533> and tore<MH1234> all<MH3605> their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>hands<MH3802>; <t><p class="indent1">And when they leaned<MH8172> on you, <t><p class="indent1">You broke<MH7665> and made all<MH3605> their hips<MH4975> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>shake<MH4571>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>‘Therefore<MH3651> the Lord<MH136> GOD<MH3068> says<MH559> this<MH3541>: “Behold<MH2009>, I am going to bring<MH935> upon you a sword<MH2719>, and I will cut<MH3772> off<MH3772> from you human<MH120> and animal<MH929> <i>life.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>The land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> will become<MH1961> a desolation<MH8077> and place<MH2723> of<MH2723> ruins<MH2723>. Then they will know<MH3045> that I am the LORD<MH3068>. <p class="paragraph"> “Because<MH3282> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>you said<MH559>, ‘The Nile<MH2975> is mine, and I have made<MH6213a> <i>it,</i>’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>therefore<MH3651>, behold<MH2009>, I am against<MH413> you and against<MH413> your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>canals<MH2975>, and I will make<MH5414> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> an utter<MH2721b> waste<MH2721b> <i>and</i> desolation<MH8077>, from Migdol<MH4024> <i>to</i> Syene<MH5482a> and as far<MH5704> as the border<MH1366> of <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>Cush<MH3568a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>A human<MH120> foot<MH7272> will not pass<MH5674a> through it, nor<MH3808> will the foot<MH7272> of an animal<MH929> pass<MH5674a> through it, and it will not be inhabited<MH3427> for forty<MH705> years<MH8141>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>So I will make<MH5414> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> a desolation<MH8077> in the midst<MH8432> of deserted<MH8074> lands<MH776>. And her cities<MH5892b>, in the midst<MH8432> of cities<MH5892b> that are laid<MH2717b> waste<MH2717b>, will be desolate<MH8077> for forty<MH705> years<MH8141>; and I will scatter<MH6327a> the Egyptians<MH4714> among the nations<MH1471> and disperse<MH2219> them among the lands<MH776>.” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>‘For this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the Lord<MH136> GOD<MH3068> says<MH559>: “At the end<MH7093> of forty<MH705> years<MH8141> I will gather<MH6908> the Egyptians<MH4714> from the peoples<MH5971a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>among<MH8033> whom<MH834> they were scattered<MH6327a>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And I will restore<MH7725> the fortunes<MH7622> of Egypt<MH4714> and bring<MH7725> them back<MH7725> to the land<MH776> of Pathros<MH6624>, to the land<MH776> of their origin<MH4351>, and there<MH8033> they will be a lowly<MH8217> kingdom<MH4467>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>It will be the lowest<MH8217> of the kingdoms<MH4467>, and it will not raise<MH5375> itself above<MH5921> the nations<MH1471> again<MH5750>. And I will make<MH4591> them small<MH4591> so<MH1115> that<MH1115> they will<MH1115> not<MH1115> rule<MH7287a> over<MH5921> the nations<MH1471>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>And it will no<MH3808> longer<MH5750> be <i>a kingdom</i> on<MH4009> which<MH4009> the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478> relies<MH4009>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>bringing<MH2142> to<MH2142> mind<MH2142> the guilt<MH5771> of their having turned<MH6437> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>to Egypt. Then they will know<MH3045> that I am the Lord<MH136> GOD<MH3068>.”’” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Now in the twenty-seventh<MH6242, 7651> year<MH8141>, in the first<MH7223> <i>month,</i> on the first<MH259> of the month<MH2320>, the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068> came<MH1961> to me, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>“Son<MH1121> of man<MH120>, Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019> king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> made his army<MH2428> labor<MH5656> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>hard<MH1419> against<MH413> Tyre<MH6865>; every<MH3605> head<MH7218> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>had<MH7139> a bald<MH7139> spot<MH7139> and every<MH3605> shoulder<MH3802> was rubbed<MH4803> raw<MH4803>. But he and his army<MH2428> acquired<MH1961> no<MH3808> wages<MH7939> from Tyre<MH6865> for the labor<MH5656> that he had <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>performed<MH5647> against<MH5921> it.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Therefore<MH3651> this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the Lord<MH136> GOD<MH3068> says<MH559>: “Behold<MH2009>, I am going to give<MH5414> the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> to Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019> king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894>. And he will carry<MH5375> off<MH5375> her wealth<MH1995> and capture<MH7997b> her spoils<MH7998> and seize<MH962> her plunder<MH957>; and it will be wages<MH7939> for his army<MH2428>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>I have given<MH5414> him the land<MH776> of Egypt<MH4714> <i>for</i> his labor<MH6468> which<MH834> he <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>performed<MH5647>, because<MH834> they acted<MH6213a> for Me,” declares<MH5002> the Lord<MH136> GOD<MH3068>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/ezekiel/29-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>“On that day<MH3117> I will make a horn<MH7161> sprout<MH6779> for the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478>, and I will <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>open<MH5414, 6610> your mouth<MH6310> among<MH8432> them.
