The conference will discuss the collection of the XVIII century "The Golden Spring", compiled by Gabriel Mtsire, which includes texts of John Chrysostom. John Chrysostom lived in the 4th century and his writings correspond to the culture of readers of that time. In the 10th-11th centuries, the works of John Chrysostom were translated into Georgian by Euthymius of Athos. These texts correspond to the requirements of the Georgian society of the 10th-11th centuries. In the 18th century, Gabriel Mtsire collected and edited these texts to make them more understandable to his modern readers. In the 20th century, these texts were again adapted. Thus, the present study provides an opportunity to evaluate and outline the linguistic and content transformation process of the same work over 16 centuries. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gabriel%20mtsire" title="gabriel mtsire">gabriel mtsire</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=john%20chrysostom" title=" john chrysostom"> john chrysostom</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=euthymius%20the%20athonite" title=" euthymius the athonite"> euthymius the athonite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=the%20golden%20spring" title=" the golden spring"> the golden spring</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166769/gabriel-mtsires-the-golden-spring-and-its-primary-sources-textual-and-content-changes-based-on-cultural-development-in-the-context-of-the-4th-20th-centuries" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166769.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">85</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">168</span> Antiulcer Potential of Heme Oxygenase-1 Inducers</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gawe%C5%82%20Magdalena">Gaweł Magdalena</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lipkowska%20Anna"> Lipkowska Anna</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Olbert%20Magdalena"> Olbert Magdalena</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fr%C4%85ckiewicz%20Ewelina"> Frąckiewicz Ewelina</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Librowski%20Tadeusz"> Librowski Tadeusz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nowak%20Gabriel"> Nowak Gabriel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pilc%20Andrzej"> Pilc Andrzej</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), also known as heat shock protein 32 (HSP32), has been shown to be implicated in cytoprotection in various organs. Its activation plays a significant role in acute and chronic inflammation, protecting cells from oxidative injury and apoptosis. This inducible isoform of HO catalyzes the first and rate-limiting step in heme degradation to produce equimolar quantities of biologically active products: carbon monoxide (CO), free iron and biliverdin. CO has been reported to possess anti-apoptotic properties. Moreover, it inhibits the production of proinflammatory cytokines and stimulates the synthesis of the anti-inflammatory interleukin-10 (IL-10), as well as promotes vasodilatation at sites of inflammation. The second product of catalytic HO-1 activity, free cytotoxic iron, is promptly sequestered into the iron storage protein ferritin, which lowers the pro-oxidant state of the cell. The third product, biliverdin, is subsequently converted by biliverdin reductase into the bile pigment bilirubin, the most potent endogenous antioxidant among the constituents of human serum, which modulates immune effector functions and suppresses inflammatory response. Furthermore, being one of the so-called stress proteins, HO-1 adaptively responds to different stressors, such as reactive oxygen species (ROS), inflammatory cytokines and heavy metals and thus protects cells against such conditions as ischemia, hemorrhagic shock, heat shock or hypoxia. It is suggested that pharmacologic modulation of HO-1 may represent an effective strategy for prevention of stress and drug-induced gastrointestinal toxicity. HO-1 is constitutively expressed in normal gastric, intestinal and colonic mucosa and up-regulated during inflammation. It has been proven that HO-1 up-regulated by hemin, heme and cobalt-protoporphyrin ameliorates experimental colitis. In addition, the up-regulation of HO-1 partially explains the mechanism of action of 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA), which is used clinically as an anti-colitis agent. In 2009 Ueda et al. has reported for the first time that mucosal protection by Polaprezinc, a chelate compound of zinc and L-carnosine used as an anti-ulcer drug in Japan, is also attributed to induction of HO-1 in the stomach. Since then, inducers of HO-1 are desired subject of research, as they may constitute therapeutically effective anti-ulcer drugs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heme%20oxygenase-1" title="heme oxygenase-1">heme oxygenase-1</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gastric%20lesions" title=" gastric lesions"> gastric lesions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gastroprotection" title=" gastroprotection"> gastroprotection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Polaprezinc" title=" Polaprezinc"> Polaprezinc</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16703/antiulcer-potential-of-heme-oxygenase-1-inducers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16703.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">504</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">167</span> Modified DNA as a Base Material for Nonlinear Optics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ewelina%20Nowak">Ewelina Nowak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anna%20Wisla-Swider"> Anna Wisla-Swider</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a biomolecule which exhibits an electro-optic properties. In order to check the nature of modification, DNA interactions were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy. For each illuminated sample, weight average molecular weight and hydrodynamic radius were measured by high pressure size exclusion chromatography. Resulting optical changes for illuminated DNA were investigated using UV-Vis spectra and photoluminescent. Optical properties show potential application in sensors based on modified DNA. Then selected DNA-surfactant complexes were illuminated with electromagnetic radiation for 5h. Molecular structure, optical characteristic were examinated for obtained complexes. Illumination led to changes of complexes physicochemical properties as compared with native DNA. Observed changes were induced by rearrangement of the molecular structure of DNA chains. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biopolymers" title="biopolymers">biopolymers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deoxyribonucleic%20acid" title=" deoxyribonucleic acid"> deoxyribonucleic acid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ionic%20liquids" title=" ionic liquids"> ionic liquids</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linearly%20polarized%20visible%20light" title=" linearly polarized visible light"> linearly polarized visible light</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultraviolet" title=" ultraviolet"> ultraviolet</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85130/dna-and-dna-complexes-modified-with-electromagnetic-radiation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85130.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">210</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">165</span> Meeting the Pedophile: Attitudes toward Pedophilia among Psychology Students </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rebecca%20Heron">Rebecca Heron</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Julie%20Karsten"> Julie Karsten</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lena%20Schweikert"> Lena Schweikert</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Adverse consequences of stigma towards pedophilia can, among other things, increase dynamic risk factors for sexual offending. Decreasing stigma, therefore, is a plausible approach in the attempt to prevent child sexual abuse. Stigma research suggests that providing direct contact to a stigmatized individual is the most efficient way of reducing stigma. The present study involved an educational intervention, followed by direct contact to a pedophile, to maximize effectiveness. It aimed at finding out whether a dichotomous anti-stigma intervention can change psychology students' attitudes towards pedophiles regarding perceived dangerousness, intentionality, deviance, and punitive attitudes. In a one sample pre-post design, 162 students of the University of Groningen attended a lecture about pedophilia, which was held by a psychology master’s student. Participants learned about child sex offending and pedophilia in addition to the importance of distinguishing between pedophiles and child sex offenders (CSOs). The guest lecturer Gabriel, shared his experiences about growing up, coping, and living with pedophilia. Results of the Wilcoxon signed-rank test revealed significantly diminished negative attitudes towards pedophiles after the intervention. Students perceived pedophiles as less dangerous, having less intent, and being less psychologically deviant. Additionally, students' punitive attitudes towards pedophiles diminished significantly. Also, a thematic analysis revealed that students were highly interested in the topic of pedophilia and greatly appreciative of Gabriel sharing his story. This study was the first to provide direct contact with a pedophile within an anti-stigma intervention. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pedophilia" title="pedophilia">pedophilia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anti-stigma%20intervention" title=" anti-stigma intervention"> anti-stigma intervention</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=punitive%20attitudes" title=" punitive attitudes"> punitive attitudes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=attitude%20change" title=" attitude change "> attitude change </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/126556/meeting-the-pedophile-attitudes-toward-pedophilia-among-psychology-students" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/126556.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">182</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">164</span> A Decision Support System for the Detection of Illicit Substance Production Sites</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Krystian%20Chachula">Krystian Chachula</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Robert%20Nowak"> Robert Nowak</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Manufacturing home-made explosives and synthetic drugs is an increasing problem in Europe. To combat that, a data fusion system is proposed for the detection and localization of production sites in urban environments. The data consists of measurements of properties of wastewater performed by various sensors installed in a sewage network. A four-stage fusion strategy allows detecting sources of waste products from known chemical reactions. First, suspicious measurements are used to compute the amount and position of discharged compounds. Then, this information is propagated through the sewage network to account for missing sensors. The next step is clustering and the formation of tracks. Eventually, tracks are used to reconstruct discharge events. Sensor measurements are simulated by a subsystem based on real-world data. In this paper, different discharge scenarios are considered to show how the parameters of used algorithms affect the effectiveness of the proposed system. This research is a part of the SYSTEM project (SYnergy of integrated Sensors and Technologies for urban sEcured environMent). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=continuous%20monitoring" title="continuous monitoring">continuous monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20fusion%20and%20sensors" title=" information fusion and sensors"> information fusion and sensors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=internet%20of%20things" title=" internet of things"> internet of things</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multisensor%20fusion" title=" multisensor fusion"> multisensor fusion</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129281/a-decision-support-system-for-the-detection-of-illicit-substance-production-sites" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129281.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">115</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">163</span> Prototype of an Interactive Toy from Lego Robotics Kits for Children with Autism</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ricardo%20A.%20Martins">Ricardo A. In the first condition, users interacted through a traditional chat that requires pressing ‘enter’ to make a message visible to an interlocutor. In another, text appeared on the screen simultaneously as the sender was writing it, letter after letter (Synchat condition), so that users could observe the varying rhythm of message production, precise timing of message appearance, typos and their corrections. The results show that the ability to observe the dynamics of message production had a twofold effect on the social interaction process. First, it enhanced the relational aspect of communication – interlocutors synchronized their emotional states during the interaction, their communication included more statements on relationship building, and they evaluated the Synchat medium as more personal and emotionally engaging. Second, it increased the coherence of communication, reflected in greater continuity of the topics raised in Synchat conversations. The results are discussed from the interaction design (IxD) perspective. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chat%20communication" title="chat communication">chat communication</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=online%20conversation" title=" online conversation"> online conversation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prosody" title=" prosody"> prosody</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20synchronization" title=" social synchronization"> social synchronization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=interaction%20incoherence" title=" interaction incoherence"> interaction incoherence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relationship%20building" title=" relationship building"> relationship building</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97727/prosody-of-text-communication-inducing-synchronization-and-coherence-in-chat-conversations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/97727.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">141</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">160</span> Touching Interaction: An NFC-RFID Combination</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eduardo%20%C3%81lvarez">Eduardo Álvarez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gerardo%20Quiroga"> Gerardo Quiroga</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jorge%20Orozco"> Jorge Orozco</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Chavira"> Gabriel Chavira</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> AmI proposes a new way of thinking about computers, which follows the ideas of the Ubiquitous Computing vision of Mark Weiser. Hence, technologies need to be adapted so that they are capable of replacing the traditional inputs to the system by embedding these in every-day artifacts. In this work, we present an approach, which uses Radiofrequency Identification (RFID) and Near Field Communication (NFC) technologies. In the latter, a new form of interaction appears by contact. We compare both technologies by analyzing their requirements and advantages. Marcel is in constant dialogue with him. He wants to give homage to him, making him one of the most eminent representatives of existential thought. His enthusiasm is triggered by Nietzsche’s phrase: ‘God is dead,’ the fil rouge that ties all of the Nietzschean references scattered through marcelian texts. The death of God is the theme which emphasises both the greatness and simultaneously the tragedy of Nietzsche. Marcel wants to substitute the idea ‘God is dead’ with its original meaning: a tragic existential characteristic that imitators of Nietzsche seemed to have blurred. An interpretation that Marcel achieves aiming at double target. On the one hand he removes the heavy metaphysical suit from Nietzsche’s aphorisms on the death of God, that his interpreters have made them wear – Heidegger especially. On the other hand, he removes a stratus of trivialisation which takes the aphorisms out of context and transforms them into advertising slogans – here Sartre becomes the target. In the lecture: Nietzsche: l'homme devant la mort de dieu, Marcel hurls himself against the metaphysical Heidegger interpretation of the death of God. A hermeneutical proposal definitely original, but also a bit too abstract. An interpretation without bite, that does not grasp the tragic existential weight of the original Nietzschean idea. ‘We are probably on the wrong road,’ announces, ‘when at all costs, like Heidegger, we want to make a metaphysic out of Nietzsche.’ Marcel also criticizes Sartre. He lands in Geneva and reacts to the journalists, by saying: ‘Gentlemen, God is dead’. Marcel only needs this impromptu exclamation to understand how Sartre misinterprets the meaning of the death of God. Sartre mistakes and loses the existential sense of this idea in favour of the sensational and trivialisation of it. Marcel then wipes the slate clean from these two limited interpretations of the declaration of the death of God. This is much more than a metaphysical quarrel and not at all comparable to any advertising slogan. Behind the cry ‘God is dead’ there is the existence of an anguished man who experiences in his solitude the actual death of God. A man who has killed God with his own hands, haunted by the chill that from now on he will have to live in a completely different way. The death of God, however, is not the end. Marcel spots a new beginning at the point in which nihilism is overcome and the Übermensch is born. Dialoguing with Nietzsche he notices to being in the presence of a great spirit that has contributed to the renewal of a spiritual horizon. He descends to the most profound depths of his thought, aware that the way out is really far below, in the remotest areas of existence. The ambivalence of Nietzsche does not scare him. Rather such a thought, characterised by contradiction, will simultaneously be infinitely dangerous and infinitely healthy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nietzsche%27s%20Death%20of%20God" title="Nietzsche's Death of God">Nietzsche's Death of God</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Marcel" title=" Gabriel Marcel"> Gabriel Marcel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Heidegger" title=" Heidegger"> Heidegger</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sartre" title=" Sartre"> Sartre</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76824/gabriel-marcel-and-friedrich-nietzsche-existence-and-death-of-god" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76824.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">239</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">155</span> An Analysis of Business Intelligence Requirements in South African Corporates</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adheesh%20Budree">Adheesh Budree</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Olaf%20Jacob"> Olaf Jacob</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Louis%20CH%20Fourie"> Louis CH Fourie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=James%20Njenga"> James Njenga</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20D%20Hoffman"> Gabriel D Hoffman</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Business Intelligence (BI) is implemented by organisations for many reasons and chief among these is improved data support, decision support and savings. Ionic liquids (ILs) like 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, 1-butyl-4-methylpyridinium chloride and 1-ethyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bromide were used. The ILs were built into helical state and confirmed by IR spectrometric techniques. Patterns of UV-Vis, photoluminescence, IR, and CD spectra indicated inclusion of small molecules into DNA structure. Molecular weight and radii of gyrations values of ILs-DNA complexes chains were established by HPSEC–MALLS–RI method. Modification DNA with 1-ethyl-1-methylpyrrolidinium bromide gives more uniform material and leads to elimination of high molecular weight chains. Thus, the incorporation DNA double helical structure with both 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride and 1-butyl-4-methylpyridinium chloride exhibited higher molecular weight values. Scanning electron microscopy images indicate formation of nanofibre structures in all DNA complexes. Fluorescence depends strongly on the environment in which the chromophores are inserted and simultaneously on the molecular interactions with the biopolymer matrix. The most intensive emission was observed for DNA-imidazole ring complex. Decrease in intensity UV-Vis peak absorption is a consequence of a reduction in the spatial order of polynucleotide strands and provides different π–π stacking structure. Changes in optical properties confirmed by spectroscopy methods make DNA-ILs complexes potential biosensor applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biopolymers" title="biopolymers">biopolymers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biosensors" title=" biosensors"> biosensors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cationic%20surfactant" title=" cationic surfactant"> cationic surfactant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DNA" title=" DNA"> DNA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DNA-gels" title=" DNA-gels"> DNA-gels</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85125/comparison-of-physicochemical-properties-of-dna-ionic-liquids-complexes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85125.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">183</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">153</span> Ramadan and Ethical Integrity in the United Arab Emirates</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Andrade">Gabriel Andrade</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Ramadan is a time of intense religious salience in the Islamic world. While there are numerous reasons that led to such aggression, there are destructive politico-religious ideologies and understandings, known as Christian Nationalism, White Christian Nationalism, and Christian Dominionism that influenced the actions of the January 6th insurrectionists. Such ideas are deeply rooted in the unification of church and state, a theocracy, embedded within the understanding that Biblical scripture is the blueprint on which the functioning of the American government should follow. In addition, the concept of racial hierarchy is embedded in politico-religious principles of White Christian Nationalism. This paper will examine how Christian Dominionism is one factor that influenced the January 6th Insurrection. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=January%206th%20insurrection" title="January 6th insurrection">January 6th insurrection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dominionism" title=" dominionism"> dominionism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Christian%20nationalism" title=" Christian nationalism"> Christian nationalism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polygenism" title=" polygenism"> polygenism</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162101/politico-religious-connections-to-the-january-6th-insurrection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162101.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">77</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">150</span> Characteristic of Oxidation Resistant High-Entropy Alloys for Application in Zero-Emission Technologies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wojciech%20J.%20Nowak">Wojciech J. An increase in operating temperature will result in lower fuel consumption, and a higher combustion temperature will result in lower pollution release. Moreover, there is a strong trend for hydrogen to be used as an alternative and clean fuel. However, using hydrogen or hydrogen-rich fuel results in a higher combustion temperature, as well as an increase in the water vapor content in the exhaust gases. Commonly used Ni-base alloys have their limits. Moreover, the presence of water vapor worsens the oxidation behavior of Ni-based alloys at a high temperature. Therefore, a new brand of materials is demanded to be used in gas turbines operated with hydrogen-rich fuel. High-entropy alloys (HEAs) seem to be very promising materials to replace commonly used Ni-based alloys. HEAs are the group of materials consisting of at least five main equiatomic elements. These alloys can be doped by other elements in amounts less than 5 at. % in total. Thus, in the present study, NiCoCrAlFe-X alloys are studied in terms of oxidation behavior during exposure to dry and wet atmospheres up to 1000 h. NiCoCrAlFe-X alloys are doped with minor alloying elements in amounts ranging from 1-5 at.%. The effect of the chemical composition on oxidation resistance in dry and wet atmospheres will be shown and discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=high%20entropy%20alloys" title="high entropy alloys">high entropy alloys</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oxidation%20resistance" title=" oxidation resistance"> oxidation resistance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrogen%20fuel" title=" hydrogen fuel"> hydrogen fuel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20vapor" title=" water vapor"> water vapor</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186777/characteristic-of-oxidation-resistant-high-entropy-alloys-for-application-in-zero-emission-technologies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186777.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">50</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">149</span> Analysis of iPSC-Derived Dopaminergic Neuron Susceptibility to Influenza and Excitotoxicity in Non-Affective Psychosis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jamileh%20Ahmed">Jamileh Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Helena%20Hernandez"> Helena Hernandez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20De%20Erausquin"> Gabriel De Erausquin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> H1N1 virus susceptibility of iPSC-derived DA neurons from schizophrenia patients and controls will compared. It is also important to support academic teachers trade unions in scope of stress-oriented activities, including psychological dangers in the assessment of risk in the workplace (college). The authors used a method of a diagnostic survey with a polling as a technique and authors’ questionnaire as a tool. The survey was conducted between September and December of 2013 and it comprised 1890 academic teachers from five voivodeships. The study reveals that 84.0% of the respondents found the work of an academic teacher to be borne with a considerable stress. The percentage values of the most frequent causes of stress are as follows: frequent changes of both organisational and didactic matters as well as overwhelming bureaucracy (77.8 %), time pressure regarding professional development and related risk of losing job (68.2 %), difficult working conditions (45.4%), conflicts and rivalry between teachers (44.1%), excessive amount of duties as well as increasing requirements and demanding attitude of students (33.7%). Work-related stress affects or significantly affects the private life of 69 % and 66.4 % of the respondents respectively. The majority of the people surveyed deals with stress by undertaking various activities, with 40% pointing at using various substances, mostly cigarettes and alcohol (p > 0,05) Physical ailments were experienced by 81% of the respondents, in 9% they were rare and 8 % of the respondents had never experienced such disorders. The entire group of the surveyed people (100 %) claimed that they have no possibility of contacting a psychologist at their workplace (p > 0.05), and they stated that the need of contacting specialists does exist. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stress" title="stress">stress</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=academic%20teachers" title=" academic teachers"> academic teachers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=psychological%20risks" title=" psychological risks"> psychological risks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=work-related" title=" work-related"> work-related</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21221/the-analysis-of-the-stress-phenomenon-among-the-academic-teachers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/21221.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">395</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">147</span> Discovering Semantic Links Between Synonyms, Hyponyms and Hypernyms</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ricardo%20Avila">Ricardo Avila</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Lopes"> Gabriel Lopes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vania%20Vidal"> Vania Vidal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jose%20Macedo"> Jose Macedo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This proposal aims for semantic enrichment between glossaries using the Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) vocabulary to discover synonyms, hyponyms and hyperonyms semiautomatically, in Brazilian Portuguese, generating new semantic relationships based on WordNet. The applied evaluation metrics were precision, recall, f-score, and confidence interval. The results obtained demonstrate that the applied method in the field of Oil Production and Extraction (E&P) is effective, which suggests that it can be used to improve the quality of terminological mappings. By contrast, the Wi-Fi communication protocol offers high throughput but limited operating range due to the attenuation effect of the sea and ocean medium. However, short-range near-field underwater wireless power transfer systems offer an environment where Wi-Fi communication can be effectively integrated to collect data and deliver instructions to sensors in underwater sensor networks. In this paper, low-power, low-cost off-the-shelf Wi-Fi modules are explored experimentally for four selected parameters for different distances between units and water salinities. The results reveal a shorter operating range and stronger dependence on water salinity than reported so far for high-end Wi-Fi modules. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wi-Fi" title="Wi-Fi">Wi-Fi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wireless%20power%20transfer" title=" wireless power transfer"> wireless power transfer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=underwater%20communications" title=" underwater communications"> underwater communications</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ESP" title=" ESP"> ESP</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149137/evaluation-of-low-power-wi-fi-modules-in-simulated-ocean-environments" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/149137.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">116</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">145</span> Touch Interaction through Tagging Context</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Chavira">Gabriel Chavira</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jorge%20Orozco"> Jorge Orozco</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salvador%20Nava"> Salvador Nava</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eduardo%20%C3%81lvarez"> Eduardo Álvarez</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Julio%20Rol%C3%B3n"> Julio Rolón</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roberto%20Pichardo"> Roberto Pichardo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Ambient Intelligence promotes a shift in computing which involves fitting-out the environments with devices to support context-aware applications. A way to deal with this phenomenon is to make use of latent variables, which can indicate whether the player is ‘on fire’ or not. This work aims to model the hot hand phenomenon through a Bayesian hidden Markov model (HMM) with two states (cold and hot) and two different probability of success depending on the corresponding hidden state. This task is illustrated through a comprehensive simulation study. The simulated data sets emulate the field goal attempts in an NBA season from different profile players. This model can be a powerful tool to assess the ‘streakiness’ of each player, and it provides information about the general performance of the players during the match. Finally, the Bayesian HMM allows computing the posterior probability of any type of streak. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bernoulli%20trials" title="Bernoulli trials">Bernoulli trials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=field%20goals" title=" field goals"> field goals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=latent%20variables" title=" latent variables"> latent variables</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=posterior%20distribution" title=" posterior distribution"> posterior distribution</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135522/simulating-the-hot-hand-phenomenon-in-basketball-with-bayesian-hidden-markov-models" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/135522.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">192</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">143</span> Impact of Popular Passive Physiological Diversity Drivers on Thermo-Physiology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ilango%20Thiagalingam">Ilango Thiagalingam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Erwann%20Yvin"> Erwann Yvin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Crehan"> Gabriel Crehan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roch%20El%20Khoury"> Roch El Khoury</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An experimental investigation is carried out in order to evaluate the relevance of a customization approach of the passive thermal mannikin. In subsequent decades there have been diverse proposals to derive the Born rule starting from even more basic assumptions [2]. In this work, we demonstrate that a simple reinforcement-learning algorithm, having no pre-programmed assumptions about quantum theory, will nevertheless converge to a behaviour pattern that accords with the Born rule, when tasked with predicting the output of a quantum optical implementation of a symmetric informationally-complete measurement (SIC). Our findings support a hypothesis due to QBism (the subjective Bayesian approach to quantum theory), which states that the Born rule can be thought of as a normative rule for making decisions in a quantum world [3]. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20Bayesianism" title="quantum Bayesianism">quantum Bayesianism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20theory" title=" quantum theory"> quantum theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20information" title=" quantum information"> quantum information</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quantum%20measurement" title=" quantum measurement"> quantum measurement</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175290/reinforcement-learning-the-born-rule-from-photon-detection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/175290.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">109</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">140</span> Asymptomatic Intercostal Schwannoma in a Patient with COVID-19: The First of Its Kind</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Hunduma">Gabriel Hunduma</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Asymptomatic intra-thoracic neurogenic tumours are rare. Tumours arising from the intercostal nerves of the chest wall are exceedingly rare. This paper reports an incidental discovery of a neurogenic intercostal tumour while being investigated for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). A 54-year-old female underwent a thoracotomy and resection for an intercostal tumour. Pre-operative images showed an intrathoracic mass, and the biopsy revealed a schwannoma. The most common presenting symptom recorded in literature is chest pain; however, our case remained asymptomatic despite the size of the mass and thoracic area it occupied. After an extensive search of the literature, COVID-19 was found to have an influence on the development of certain cells in breast cancer. Hence there is a possibility that COVID-19 played a role in progressing the development of the schwannoma cells. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
