but <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>an unauthorized<MH2114a> person<MH2114a> shall not come<MH7126> near<MH7126> you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>So you shall perform<MH8104> the duties<MH4931> of the sanctuary<MH6944> and the duties<MH4931> of the altar<MH4196>, so that there will no<MH3808> longer<MH5750> be wrath<MH7110a> on the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>Behold<MH2009>, I Myself<MH589> have taken<MH3947> your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>fellow<MH251> Levites<MH3881> from among<MH8432> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>; <i>they are</i> a gift<MH4979> to you, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>dedicated<MH5414> to the LORD<MH3068>, to perform<MH5647> the service<MH5656> for the tent<MH168> of meeting<MH4150>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>But you and your sons<MH1121> with you shall attend<MH8104> to your priesthood<MH3550> for everything<MH3605> that concerns<MH1697> the altar<MH4196> and inside<MH4480, 1004> the veil<MH6532>, and you are to perform<MH5647> service<MH5656>. I am giving<MH5414> you the priesthood<MH3550> as a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>service<MH5656> that is a gift<MH4979>, and the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>unauthorized<MH2114a> person<MH2114a> who comes<MH7131> near<MH7131> shall be put<MH4191> to<MH4191> death<MH4191>.” <p class="hdg">The Priests’ Portion</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> spoke<MH1696> to Aaron<MH175>, “Now behold<MH2009>, I Myself<MH589> have put<MH5414> you in charge<MH4931> of My <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>offerings<MH8641>, all<MH3605> the holy<MH6944> gifts of the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> I have given<MH5414> to you as a portion<MH4888a> and to your sons<MH1121> as a permanent<MH5769> allotment<MH2706>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>This<MH2088> shall be yours from the most<MH6944> holy<MH6944> <i>gifts reserved</i> from the fire<MH784>; every<MH3605> offering<MH7133a> of theirs, namely every<MH3605> grain offering<MH4503>, every<MH3605> sin<MH2403b> offering<MH2403b>, and every<MH3605> guilt<MH817> offering<MH817>, with which<MH834> they shall make<MH7725> restitution<MH7725> to Me, <i>shall be</i> most<MH6944> holy<MH6944> for you and for your sons<MH1121>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>As the most<MH6944> holy<MH6944> <i>gifts</i> you shall eat<MH398> it; every<MH3605> male<MH2145> shall eat<MH398> it. It shall be holy<MH6944> to you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>This<MH2088> also is yours, the offering<MH8641> of their gift<MH4976>, that is, all<MH3605> the wave<MH8573> offerings<MH8573> of the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>; I have given<MH5414> them to you and to your sons<MH1121> and daughters<MH1323> with you as a permanent<MH5769> allotment<MH2706>. Everyone<MH3605> of your household<MH1004> who is clean<MH2889> may eat<MH398> it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>All<MH3605> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>best<MH2459> of the fresh<MH3323> oil<MH3323> and all<MH3605> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>best<MH2459> of the fresh<MH8492> wine<MH8492> and of the grain<MH1715>, the first<MH7225> fruits<MH7225> of what<MH834> they give<MH5414> to the LORD<MH3068>, I have given<MH5414> them to you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>The first<MH1061> ripe<MH1061> fruits<MH1061> of all<MH3605> that is in their land<MH776>, which<MH834> they bring<MH935> to the LORD<MH3068>, shall be yours; everyone<MH3605> of your household<MH1004> who is clean<MH2889> may eat<MH398> it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>Everything<MH3605> banned<MH2764a> from<MH2764a> secular<MH2764a> use<MH2764a> in Israel<MH3478> shall be yours. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span><span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>Every<MH3605> firstborn<MH6363a> of the womb<MH7358> of all<MH3605> flesh<MH1320>, whether human<MH120> or animal<MH929>, which<MH834> they offer<MH7126> to the LORD<MH3068>, shall be yours; however<MH389> you must<MH6299> redeem<MH6299> the human<MH120> firstborn<MH1060>, and the firstborn<MH1060> of unclean<MH2931> animals<MH929> you shall redeem<MH6299>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>As to <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>their redemption<MH6302b> price<MH6302b>, from a month<MH2320> old<MH1121> you shall redeem<MH6299> them, by your assessment<MH6187>, five<MH2568> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>shekels<MH8255> in silver<MH3701> by the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>shekel<MH8255> of the sanctuary<MH6944>, which<MH1931> is twenty<MH6242> gerahs<MH1626>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>But the firstborn<MH1060> of an ox<MH7794>, the firstborn<MH1060> of a sheep<MH3775>, or<MH176> the firstborn<MH1060> of a goat<MH5795>, you shall not redeem<MH6299>; they are holy<MH6944>. You shall sprinkle<MH2236b> their blood<MH1818> on the altar<MH4196> and offer<MH6999> up<MH6999> their fat<MH2459> in<MH6999> smoke<MH6999> <i>as</i> an offering<MH801> by<MH801> fire<MH801>, for a soothing<MH5207> aroma<MH7381b> to the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>However, their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>meat<MH1320> shall be yours; it shall be yours like the breast<MH2373> of a wave<MH8573> offering<MH8573> and like the right<MH3225> thigh<MH7785>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>All<MH3605> the offerings<MH8641> of the holy<MH6944> <i>gifts,</i> which<MH834> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> offer<MH7311> to the LORD<MH3068>, I have given<MH5414> to you and your sons<MH1121> and your daughters<MH1323> with you, as a permanent<MH5769> allotment<MH2706>. It is a permanent<MH5769> covenant<MH1285> of salt<MH4417> before<MH6440> the LORD<MH3068> to you and your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>descendants<MH2233> with you.” <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> said<MH559> to Aaron<MH175>, “You shall have no<MH3808> inheritance<MH5157> in their land<MH776> nor<MH3808> own<MH1961> any portion<MH2506> among<MH8432> them; I am your portion<MH2506> and your inheritance<MH5159> among<MH8432> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>“To the sons<MH1121> of Levi<MH3878>, behold<MH2009>, I have given<MH5414> all<MH3605> the tithe<MH4643> in Israel<MH3478> as an inheritance<MH5159>, in<MH2500> return<MH2500> for<MH2500> their service<MH5656> which<MH834> they perform<MH5647>, the service<MH5656> of the tent<MH168> of meeting<MH4150>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>And the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> shall not come<MH7126> near<MH7126> the tent<MH168> of meeting<MH4150> again<MH5750>, or they will bring<MH5375> sin<MH2399> on themselves and die<MH4191>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Only the Levites<MH3881> shall perform<MH5647> the service<MH5656> of the tent<MH168> of meeting<MH4150>, and they shall bear<MH5375> their <i>own</i> guilt<MH5771>; <i>it shall be</i> a permanent<MH5769> statute<MH2708> throughout your generations<MH1755>, and among<MH8432> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> they shall have<MH5157> no<MH3808> inheritance<MH5159>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>For the tithe<MH4643> of the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>, which<MH834> they offer<MH7311> as an offering<MH8641> to the LORD<MH3068>, I have given<MH5414> to the Levites<MH3881> as an inheritance<MH5159>; therefore<MH5921, 3651> I have said<MH559> concerning them, ‘They shall have<MH5157> no<MH3808> inheritance<MH5159> among<MH8432> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>.’” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> spoke<MH1696> to Moses<MH4872>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>“Moreover, you shall speak<MH1696> to the Levites<MH3881> and say<MH559> to them, ‘When<MH3588> you take<MH3947> from the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478> the tithe<MH4643> which<MH834> I have given<MH5414> you from them for your inheritance<MH5159>, then you shall present<MH7311> an offering<MH8641> from it to the LORD<MH3068>, a tithe<MH4643> of the tithe<MH4643>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>Your offering<MH8641> shall be credited<MH2803> to you like the grain<MH1715> from the threshing<MH1637> floor<MH1637> or the full<MH4395> produce<MH4395> from the wine<MH3342> vat<MH3342>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>So<MH3651> you shall also<MH1571> present<MH7311> an offering<MH8641> to the LORD<MH3068> from all<MH3605> your tithes<MH4643>, which<MH834> you receive<MH3947> from the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>; and from it you shall give<MH5414> the LORD’S<MH3068> offering<MH8641> to Aaron<MH175> the priest<MH3548>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>Out of all<MH3605> your gifts<MH4979> you shall present<MH7311> every<MH3605> offering<MH8641> due to the LORD<MH3068>, from all<MH3605> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>best<MH2459> of them, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>the sacred<MH4720> part<MH4720> from them.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>And you shall say<MH559> to them, ‘When you have <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>offered<MH7311> from it the best<MH2459> of it, then <i>the rest</i> shall be credited<MH2803> to the Levites<MH3881> like the product<MH8393> of the threshing<MH1637> floor<MH1637>, and like the product<MH8393> of the wine<MH3342> vat<MH3342>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-31.htm"><b>31</b></a></span>You may eat<MH398> it anywhere<MH3605, 4725>, you and your households<MH1004>, for it is your compensation<MH7939> in<MH2500> return<MH2500> for<MH2500> your service<MH5656> in the tent<MH168> of meeting<MH4150>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/numbers/18-32.htm"><b>32</b></a></span>And you will bring<MH5375> on yourselves no<MH3808> sin<MH2399> by<MH5921> reason<MH5921> of<MH5921> it when you have <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>offered<MH7311> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>best<MH2459> of it.
