In biblical context, it reflects God's omniscience and His ability to remember and account for the deeds of humanity. This concept is echoed in other scriptures, such as Job 14:17, where it speaks of God sealing up transgressions in a bag. It emphasizes God's justice and the certainty that He will address sin and righteousness in His timing.
sealed up within My vaults?
The imagery of sealing and vaults conveys security and preservation. In ancient Near Eastern culture, important documents and treasures were often sealed and stored in secure places to protect them from tampering or loss. This metaphor indicates that God's plans and judgments are secure and unchangeable. It also implies that there is a future time when these stored things will be revealed or acted upon, aligning with prophetic themes found in Revelation 20:12, where books are opened for judgment. This phrase can also be seen as a type of Christ, who is the ultimate fulfillment of God's promises and judgments, as He holds the keys to death and Hades (Revelation 1:18).
Persons / Places / Events
1. Moses
The author of Deuteronomy, delivering a song from God to the Israelites as a witness against them.

2. Israelites
The audience of Moses' song, representing God's chosen people who are reminded of God's justice and faithfulness.

3. God
The speaker in this verse, emphasizing His sovereignty and the certainty of His judgments.

4. The Song of Moses
A prophetic and poetic declaration found in Deuteronomy 32, serving as a reminder of God's past acts and future promises.

5. The Promised Land
The destination of the Israelites, symbolizing God's faithfulness and the fulfillment of His promises.
Teaching Points
God's Sovereignty and Justice
God is sovereign and His judgments are certain. The "this" in ver. 34 is by some understood of the sinful doings of the Israelites which God should not forget or overlook. So the Targum of Onkelos: "Are not all their works manifest before me, kept against the day of judgment in my treasures?" So also Calvin, "Quanquam de poenis hunc versum quidam exponunt, acsi Deus assereret diversas earum species apud se paratas esse, quas depromat quoties libuerit: rectius tamen est de sceleribus intelligere." But there is a more 'comprehensive reference here. Not only the deeds of the transgressors, but the judgments that should come on Israel, and also God's interposition on their behalf, were laid up in store with him, and sealed up among his treasures. All that had been done had been noted, and all that should happen was decreed, and should certainly come to pass. The "this' has thus both a retrospective and a prospective reference; it includes both the sin of the nation and God's dealing with them afterwards, as well as his judgments on their enemies. Verse 34. - My treasures.
